Though it was transmission whine too.

Agree with the infotainment screen. Should have been placed much lower with atleast volume knob present.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

"Better late than never".
Finally my Jimny arrived at the dealership this morning. Awaiting delivery of the vehicle either this friday or next week, depending on RTO formalities.

The White Jimny Alpha AT:

Side view:
Maruti Jimny Review-img_20240805_102434.jpg

I would have been an early buyer too, incase the launch price was similar to the current discounted price. But the itch to buy one was always there

Attempt 1: (Booking #1)
Had booked a Jimny before launch. Mine was the 5th booking in my hometown to be specific.
But couldn't digest the launch price and had to let go of the dream, of buying a Gypsy/Jimny.
For reference, when launched it was around 18.75L for Alpha AT, while Thar 3 door turbo petrol AT was approx 20L(Bangalore)

Attempt 2:(Booking #2)
Heavy discounts came in pretty soon around December 2023.
I had almost finalized selling my duster and buying Jimny this time, but in the last moment wife and parents changed their minds and forced me to keep the duster. Hence had to skip Jimny plans again, with a heavy heart.

Attempt 3:
Discounts were announced for 2024 stock in July2024. This time my uncle and friend were interested. On behalf of them did all the enquiries , took them to test drives, helped in selecting the variants, finalizing the vehicle etc.But I myself couldn't buy one.

4th and final attempt: (Booking #3)
The discount was extended till July end from earlier July 15th deadline. The SA called again and gave me a good offer.
In the mean time my father was forced to sell his MM540 4x4 due to some constraints(a story for another day) and my cousin showed interest in buying my Duster(blocked with advance but haven't sold yet).
So thought this is it, the wait is enough and listened to the heart and booked Jimny around 20th July 2024.
And here it arrives at the dealership today, after a year long desicion making.

PS:
Will share the final on-road price in a day or two.
Have slight confusion related to registration charges, accessories, add-ons, warranty etc, will be sorted out tomorrow.

Regards,
DLC5005

Congrats and all the best with the rest of the formalities. I am also in the same boat, waiting for a PDI in the next two days. I booked the vehicle on 18th July with Mandovi Motors, Yelahanka, hopefully, I get to see it in a couple of days. Looks like your dealer is more efficient in getting the vehicle faster.

The final numbers quoted by the dealer as follows,
Ex showroom - 1495000
TCS - 14950
Road tax - 285928
Registration - 862
Insurance - 44849 ( Reliance )
Fast-Tag - 600
EW - 25K approx. I removed CCP which is approx 10K
Also opted out of MCP and rewards
Discount 330000
Free accessories - 5K

Are you upgrading the tyres? I short-listed Yoko 215-75-15 and Apterra AT2 225-70-15 however Apterra is not available with any dealers. The maximum offer I got for the stock tyre is 2000 per Tyre. Let me know if you have any suggestions on Tyre dealers.

Exactly, the roller coaster ride continued till the last day of loan approval. The last phase of delivery is pending though.

It's a small, sweet story. Will share some pics and details in related 4x4 thread, as and when time permits.

Hi,
Thanks for the wishes and wish you the same.

I would say decent. I had to push them and follow up myself every alternate day to get the process moving.
Actually, it would have been delayed if it was to be ordered from factory. The dealer had ready stock of Zeta AT and Alpha MT. But my choice of Alpha AT in white was not in stock. But the manager was helpful and spoke with other dealerships and did some swap and arranged an Alpha AT for me.

I think you still have scope to reduce some amount in above, incase you haven't finalized yet.
TCS - 14,950 vs 11,490
Insurance - 44,849 vs approx 38,000
Free Accesories - 5k vs 10k
So you can easily save around 10k cash + 5k more accesories.Do give it a try.

Had plans to upgrade initially.
But buyback of 5 tyres is 10k max. So not worth disposing off 5 new tyres for mere 10k buyback.
Spoke with few of the fellow bhpians, and most of them suggested that the stock tyres are good for 90% of the use cases. So for time being will use the stock tyres and swap to 215s during first tyre change or after a year, if the need arises.

Better to stick with 215s. The 225 section on stock rim/alloys creates a bulging/baloon of side walls.
See the below pic of the Jimny with 225s, which had come for service. Side wall showed too much bulge in real time than the pic.

I had got below few suggestions from fellow bhpians, see if it's of any help to you.
1. Tyre professionals, Basavanagudi
2. Tyre stacks, Ramamurthynagar
3. Madhus
4. Torque Block

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Jimny caught on camera while rolling down multiple times in a ditch during some offroad event. The SUV was taken back to the top by driving from the accident spot. Just imagine some heavy weight SUV in this situation.

Thanks for sharing, but a caution: we should never assume anything based on an incident/accident. No two incident conditions and outcomes would be the same. The best educated guess for safety is the NCAP test which are done is the same condition with same environmental factors for all the cars.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I am getting impatient with my dealer and Maruti. They are unable to move the vehicle from local stockyard to dealer stockyard for the last 7 days. This incompetency is making me rethink of my buying decision. Worried about same kind of incompetency in after sales service.

Looks like same issue with many of the dealers.
Had been to showroom today at my hometown and one of the customer was having a heated argument with the SA.
The SA was saying it's in main stockyard from 4 days, waiting for clearance. The customer was disappointed since the SA had not been able to get the vehicle even after 4-5 days.

Most of the dealerships are as such. My SA's response and follow up too has come down after making the payment, even though the deliver is not done yet. So I am running behind him from past 2 days to get the final few things done.

Don't let the dealership experience ruin your dream of owning a good vehicle. For service, if one shows incompetency then we have the option to visit other service centers.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I have a query.
My Jimny will be completing one year in the first week of September. It will complete about 17,000 kms by September. As the service interval is 10,000 kms OR one year, whichever is earlier, it had it's 10K service five months ago when it reached 10K kms. Now, do I schedule the next service in September (completion of one year) or wait for completion of 20K kms which would mean waiting for another three months or so?

Assuming you got your 10K service in April, your next service is due in April 2025 or 20K KM whichever is earlier.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Thanks to my friend and BHPian SumitB, recently, I had the opportunity to drive a Jimny Alpha MT from Shillong - Cherrapunji - Dawki - Shillong and multiple times on Shillong - Guwahati highway.

First thing first, I am bowled over by the suspension, I have been driving SUV's and lots of them, across all price range, but the way it takes bad roads has to be experienced. Very mature, very compliant, ride is absorbing and handling for a SUV is good. This Jimny was shod with 215's Cross Contact AT's so my experience was with it.

Maruti Jimny Review-img_5310.jpg

On a trail which leads to his farm, you can still manage it in 2H, thanks to the Continental tires, but if it rains (which it does and lots of it), you need 4H.

The Jimny also has intermittent setting for wipers which I liked and has an interval (2 speed wipe settings for the rear) which I absolutely loved. On Guwahati - Shillong highway, with rains completely lashing, it would have been a chore to keep the rear wipe continuously on, this 2 speed wipe function helped immensely.

From what I observed, Jimny is built well, just like a Jap vehicle should, this vehicle sees bad roads everyday and there were no rattles / squeaks anywhere. The infotainment showed me ~11+ kmpl fuel average, I think, considering Shillong's traffic, too much fog / mist on road to Cherrapunji / Dawki, plus lack of outright power which made me gun the engine was the probable culprit and yes, the turning radius is large for the size.

If and when I change my second car or add a third one, this should be it.

Few pictures -

Completely in agreement. As a past owner of vehicles like the old Gurkha, Scorpio 4Wd, every time I drive the Jimny I just fall in love with it a bit more.

I am also in the same boat as you. My next car change is in 2026, and I just hope that the Jimny doesn't get discontinued before then, and I don't want to have a 3rd car at present. Fingers crossed.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Finally we took the plunge!

While Jimny was always on the radar, the pricing was stopping us to go ahead with the decision. In my friend circle, we have Jimnys which costed 17.85 lac (all OTR prices), 16 lac, 14.7 lac, 13.20 lac...

The July offers were simply irresistible, and I knew this discount will not last beyond the month. As per insider information the stocks at MSIL are almost clear now, and from August the discounts would start to get reduced (which has proven true).

Thus we booked ours on 25th July, and managed to get best-possible deal (we got ours under 13L OTR in Delhi). Original choice was White, but dealer Magic Nexa, Dwarka, Delhi checked from MSIL Yard and found out that White was not available and only 2 colors were readily available (Grey and Nexa Blue). We settled for Nexa Blue and paid the booking amount. Dealer promised the delivery by 31st July, but got slight delay. we took delivery of our Jimny on 4th August which happens to be my Dad's birthday.

I had sold my Gypsy King in 2014, so it took 10 year gap in getting the replacement. Now looking forward to customizing and upgrades.

Cheers!

Congrats ! The Nexa Blue color on the Jimny is rare but looks very very good.

Which model/transmission is it by the way ?

I am also curious to know, are the rear seatbelt reminders present in your car when the seats are empty and not seatbelts not buckled in ?

I know Maruti removed it from FronX and GV from May'24 onwards, curious about Jimny, since I don't see anyone in this forum who recently purchased commenting about it.
