You can bring it down to 15.5 lacs. Trust me. Dealers are short of Zeta's, but have plenty stock of alpha's.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

My Jimny has crossed 5000 kilometres in around 5 months and I have loved every bit of it. Mind you this is one Jimny that is used 95% on tarmac. I haven't been frustrated once due to the perceived lack of power. But then while I drive fast, hitting max speed asap has never been my kind of thing. In gear acceleration has been adequate for all my needs.

I took my father's Grand i10 Nios for the same highway drive one weekend and the same compliment of passengers. I expected it to be faster than the Jimny but was so frustrated at the power delivery characteristics of the engine that I vowed never to do that. The Jimny's in gear capability and it's lugging capability in 4th and 5th have pleasantly surprised me. I have never felt that the engine limited my overtaking. Either buy the car that fits your driving style or drive the car in the style it needs to be driven. I drive the Jimny far different from how I used to drive the Baleno RS.

I have been ambivalent at the 2L discount and have often wondered why I did not have stronger feelings towards the same. But then remembered that it was more or less the same for the Baleno RS which was discounted in the facelift version by over a lakh. And it's not just Maruti. It's mostly the case with any performance/niche model that has been launched in India. The S-Cross 1.6, the PoloGTI (even with a limited run of 99 unit. If it had 5 doors I would have bought it for the initial price too), the Baleno RS, Tiago JTP, the Polo GT diesel...almost every such model below 20 lakhs has gone through this phase. I think it may have to do with two things..
1. The Jimny met my price expectations.
2. It offered exactly was I was aspiring to and then some.

At the end of the day all my car purchases have to satisfy my heart and my vision. If they do and I have the budget for it, I buy it. No regrets then at having a chance at ownership of this gem of a car no matter what discounts Mr. Jones gets on it.

Peace out.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

On the fence about buying the Jimny. Recently attended the Mahindra Getting Dirty event at Coorg, learnt the basics of 4x4 trail driving, it was awesome !

Do we have 4x4 groups here in Bangalore ? Having got the Jimny, how do you take it off roading?

With the high offers on Zeta variants, they are more or less selling well now, and dealers are putting up their offers on Alpha variants as well. Just check the prices offered here, the taxes, RTO, etc are high because it's in Kerala, but the discounts are great!

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/india...ml#post5676132 (Maruti Jimny’s S-Cross moment | Sales tanking, 2-lakh rupee discounts official)

The dealers are prioritizing clearing existing inventory and are willing to offer more discounts on what they have in stock, some are now left with more Alpha variants, so discounts from the dealer end on these are quite high.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Hi all, currently I am negotiating with one of Nexa's dealers, yesterday they gave me a price (pic attached) of 10.58 Lakh for Zeta MT excluding road tax as I will be registering the car in a different state. Additionally, road tax will be around 90k thousand, so at the current deal I will get the car around 11.50 Lakh on the road. Is it a good deal or should I try to negotiate more?
Kindly guide
Thanks

The empty tank alarm comes on last bar of the fuel gauge. It usually takes 33 litres of petrol to fill up on auto-cut. Range is usually 400 km on an average. I got a best of 517 km and 340-350 km at the beginning.
Reached Goa yesterday from Delhi. Was seeing low light coming at 500-520 mark. This is for a stock AT at highway speed of 90kmph. Avg has been 15-16 kmpl.

For 2 hrs in the dark i experimented with 80 kmph cruise and saw 17 on display.

In flowing traffic in urban conditions seeing 13 on display is easy.

Attaching a pic taken yesterday around Western Ghats

I would request you to check if you would need to pay any additional tax other than registration since the car is not sold in the state of registration and the GST component of state would go the state of sale. I have been through this once, I purchased my Honda Brio from Chandigarh dealership and registered the car in Punjab, I was asked to pay the Punjab VAT in addition to road tax. Though VAT is no longer relevent but please do confirm on this part.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

I ended up booking and buying a Jimny Zeta Manual - all in 8 hours. It was a completely head over heart purchase.

For those of you who know me; I used to have a Mahindra Bolero DI 2WD. The Bolero was a non-power steering vehicle with Leaf Springs on all 4 wheels and the tractor like DI engine. I was in the process of converting it into a 4x4 when it was stolen. Although I was able to recover it as the thief had managed to topple the Bolero as a result of an accident and then I had it repaired, I had to sell it off shortly as the car was just not the same as before

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...recovered.html (My Mahindra Bolero DI: A tough nut, but not as tough as I would have liked. EDIT -Stolen & Recovered)

I sold the Bolero but the hunt for a 4x4 always remained in my heart. I looked at the original Mahindra Thar DI / CRDe but dropped the idea as I did not want an open top / soft top vehicle. The new Thar 2.0 was amazing but at 18L On Road for the Diesel was out of my budget. I watched every year as the price crept up by a few thousands (and Mahindra also removed some standard items like the MLD and made it optional). I had no intention of spending 20 Lakh rupees so kept checking the used car market for the Thar CRDe and the Thar 2.0 incase an interesting unit came up for sale.

Fast forward to 6 months ago when I saw the Jimny getting launched. Now, I was never a Maruti fan and I had never owned a Maruti in the past. Nor was I a huge fan of petrol powered vehicles as my Bolero-Punto-Aspire was all diesel powered. I kept following the updates on the car until the pricing was launched. At 14.50 L On Road for the Base Variant; it was overpriced. I did not even feel like checking it out in the flesh. Not having a particular affinity towards Maruti or Petrol powered vehicles; I also did not keep sub-consiciously salivating at the thought of the Jimny like I did with the Thar.

Fast forward to Monday this week; I woke up and Google started giving me alerts about this new Thunder Edition of the Jimny and the price drop to 10.74L ex-showroom. It piqued my interest a bit but not by much. I thought to myself that at this price - I should atleast check out the car. So I popped over to the NEXA 2 kilometers away with my mum (who had the least interest in the Jimny but was rather accompanying me because I promised I would take her to the supermarket next door to NEXA).

Saw an Alpha Variant inside the showroom and thought the car was nice. It was not fancy but functional which is what really liked. It did not tug at my heart strings like the Thar but it appealed to my brain (which was rating Value for Money rather than outright desirability). I told them I will come in the next day for a test drive and left within 10 minuites

Went to the showroom next day morning and the Sales Executive tossed me the keys to their TD Delta variant and said I can drive it for as long as I want to. He told me that we can go down a nearby cliff face to the Sabarmati River bed and I took him up on that offer. I had no intention of testing the car on the River Bed simply because that is not the kind of offroading I intended to do but rather I wanted to see how it goes up and down the cliff face to the river bed through a steep rocky slope. I intend to use the car for touring but with an ability to take everything in its stride. Last Mile roads on mountains, forest reserves or even homestays off the beaten path are usually trails and I wanted a vehicle which can take me everywhere. I will never use this car as for heavy duty offroading but rather to tackle whatever comes my way during the course of my touring. Coming back to the test drive, the Jimny went through like the trail a mountain goat; skipping up through rocks and crevices with beautiful poise and articulation. 4x4 High took care of much of the trail while I shifted to 4x4 Low only to explore how the car behaved and not because trail needed me to use 4x4 low.

Came back up the trail after 25 minuites and drove the Jimny on some empty highways. The car's heavy gearshifting, heavy steering and a general reluctance to change gears quickly reminded me of my Bolero. Over small potholes, rumble strips and small bumps - the car would just trundle across with the ride quality being relatively compliant without any exaggerated jitters or wobbles. The car would cruise at around 85-90 km/hr without any issues and speeds higher than 90 would need some planning. I aim to use this car like my Himalayan 411 so 90 kilometers per hour is just fine - it is my sweet spot.

Went back in the showroom and sat down to finish the paperwork. The dealership had 1 black Zeta and 2 Alpha's (White and Black). I did not feel the need for a Zeta as I am not a fan of Alloy Wheels on offroad vehicles but prefer heavy duty steel wheels to be in a position to take on any abuse. The additional gimmicks of Cruise Control, Push Button Ignition etc did not appeal to me so I finalized the Zeta.

An hour later I had my final deal; In additional to a 2 Lakh discount offered by Maruti, I got an additional 50k off and also opted not to take the Thunder kit accessories package for which I got an additional 25k off.

On road - including RTO, TCS, Insurance etc - I got the car for 11.22 L on road which I thought was a pretty good deal. Paid by RTGS and asked them to get the Black Zeta from their stockyard. They got the car in a couple of hours later and I took delivery later that evening.

This was completely a head over heart purchase. The car's VFM quotient at 11.22 L appealed to me as I knew I will not be able to get another competent 4x4 at this price point (complete with 6 Airbags, Reverse Camera and a 7 inch infotainment system). If this was a Heart Over Head purchase, I would have gone in for the Thar Diesel 4x4.

But all said and done, I am very happy with my purchase and aim to use it for highway touring + where ever the trails take me after the smooth gravel ends.

[quote=pepega;5676313]I haven't done the drive to Coorg or Ooty yet, I'd love to experience that sometime as well. How is that road? /quote]

The roads from Goa to Mangalore and onwards to Madikeri in Coorg are quite good. Toll roads from Karwar to Mangalore. Another toll while exiting Mangalore. There is some road work going on as you exit Mangalore till BC Road. It is manageable. Mani to Madikeri is like the roads in Goa till the Karnataka border.

Re: Maruti Jimny Review

Went for a Jimny 4X4 Event organised by NEXA in Vasant Kunj Delhi,
My god! it was so impressing, how this tiny mountain goat had the capacity to go up and down such ravenous creaks with ease, I drove a automatic in 4L engaged and L gear, it was a thrill, which I will remember for many years, it was exactly in sync to those Dubai sand safaris which much larger Land Cruisers.
I am so impressed with my Mini LC (all Puns intended!)

At least in Noida after talking to all Nexa dealers, I have struck a deal with one senior relationship manager. He is willing to skip all negotiation and directly give a Alpha-AT quote of 15.50 L to anyone I refer.

I didn't discuss Zeta but probably he can do best for that as well.

Then once one has the quote, you can try even further negotiations.

For those ok to purchase Jimny in Noida, you can message me and I will provide contact details.

To be fair to him, not able to give his name publicly till he is ok with this.

I've booked the Zeta AT variant today for 12,90,000 all inclusive from sector 10, Noida. This was the final price offered and comes without the thunder kit but has the basic kit (mud flaps, mats)
