Also, since we are planning to replace our City Diesel next year, we are considering Verna as the replacement but confused whether I should get the IVT or DCT one. For our daily city usage, I feel IVT would suffice but I'm madly in love with 1.5 Turbo DCT, which I had driven after its launch. The only gripe with DCT is its issues and FE.

Also, what's the realistic mileage Verna IVT and DCT owners are getting?

Other options we are considering apart from Verna are Thar, Virtus, Seltos, Sonet and Venue. All in Automatic guise only.
Turbo is extremely sensitive to your driving style, having driven both the manual and DCT turbo. Turbo manual- we have a week old one, 1k kms done giving anywhere between 8-11km/L in BLR traffic and 15km/L on highways, going as high as 20+km/L. DCT- would be in the same region.

Have you ever got similar feedback from the passengers seated at the back?
I haven’t received any such feedback from my wife and my pet so far as they are always in the backseat when they travel with me together
But the cooling at the back seat will not be like the front for sure. Since I have not received any bad feedback from any of the rear occupants so far (4.5K KMs in ODO) I never felt it was bad. May be check with the service center once.

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

We went for a small vacation from Bangalore to Pondicherry. The route we took is Bangalore-> Krishnagiri-> Tiruvannamalai-> Gingee-> Auroville -> Pondicherry. Lelantus, the DCT performed beautifully on the highway and as we moved into the smaller highway beyond Krishnagiri, the car was really stable while maintaining 80-100.

Since we left around 5am on a weekday (Mon to Wed), we didn't encounter much of office traffic or weekend traffic either.

Tried to use some of the ADAS features on certain section. The auto cruise control was useful in the last section of highway as we drew closer to Pondicherry.

I got a mileage of around 18 kmpl (based on Fuelio). The car performed well in some of the twisties along the route and never felt floaty.

Thanks for confirming.
However, this was the feedback I got in the test drive car as well (from a different person). So, I assume it is the extreme heat of Delhi that is causing this, and hopefully nothing is wrong with the car. 😅

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

Hi guys.

Any idea how do I stop the emergency brakes that are applied while taking the car out of parking (basically to save the car from incoming traffic).

Also, has anyone hearing any wind noise creeping through from the left side/passenger side? I have been feeling it since the time I got the car but always thought I am overthinking.

Check for "Rear-Cross traffic alert" under Parking Safety and disable it. But this will be auto enabled whenever you stop and start the car. You need to disable it manually each time.

I haven't heard much in terms of wind sound. Is this at higher speeds? I've pushed it max to 130 kmph for a very short interval but haven't heard anything.

I have a trip planned in September. Will observe and see.

Do you know if this is a bug or the intended functionality? Because all the other ADAS features maintain their state regardless of whether the car has be switched on or off.

I guess it is an intended functionality as it is not going to cause any damage like forward collision assistance breaking. But we would never be able to reverse the car in a congested road where vehicular movement is much higher and the system keeps braking if we try to get out from a parking on the road such as Anna nagar (Chennai) GCC parking slots on the road. I forget to turn this off at times and the car auto brakes and makes me panic for a second and then to realise that nothing wrong has happened

My sister didn't like the cooling at rear seats. It is not that good to be frank. I also have creta and ac performance is actually different, creta giving faster cooling than verna

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

All of a sudden front collision warning came up today when adaptive cruise control was enabled. But front collision warning was turned off and there were no vehicles at the front too

Bringing up an old dilemma here:

My Verna is due for first service tomorrow and I know they will pitch me the Shield of Trust. Is it worth investing in it? My car is 1.5 DCT.

Mine is a 1.5 DCT and will go with both extended warranty and shield of trust.

Given the amount of electronic and sophistication that today's vehicles have, best to be covered. I've already taken the SOT without second thoughts at purchase and will take the extended warranty for its full duration next year.

My suggestion is to go ahead

If you are someone who would go through all the items put by the SA in every service and fight tooth and nail for items like engine chemical wash / injector clean up / windshield washer cleaner etc, I would suggest you can give the SOT a skip. If you are someone who would prefer a peace of mind during service and would go with all that SA suggests to keep your car ASS maintained, SOT is recommended. Just to give you an overall idea, all of my annual service costs remained well within 10K for my 2018 Verna and I am a bit liberal with my fight with SA.
