I checked with Hyundai. They said the cost of replacing the windshield is about Rs 8,000/-

This includes the cost of both the new materials and labour.

The ADAS unit will be removed, fixed back and configured by them.

In my case, the crack was very high up in the windscreen and on the passenger side. It is completely outside the wiper cleaning area.

So I got this https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B0BTH82275 and did it on my own.

I am quite satisfied by this fix and will keep the windscreen as is.

Thank you. It was not an issue. Nevertheless, we can now drive and shift gears without indication, which is a good sign.

Tried my best to answer. Have driven my Black Bounty for 3k KMs during last 2.5 months. One road trip of 700kms.
Thanks encounter1209 for your point-to-point answers.

Can you pl also confirm how the back seat comfort is; if I use it as a chauffeur driven for my daily office commute?

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

Joining the Verna tribe today. Took delivery of my Starry Night, Verna SX(O) DCT 1.5 Turbo from Himgiri Hyundai.

What helped me choose Hyundai and the Verna
1. Super prompt response for Test Drive request
2. Prompt follow-up and answer of all queries without being pushy
3. Polite sales staff

My first choice was the VW Virtus, but I didn’t opt for it because
1. No response for test drives despite repeated attempts. I had to go down to the MG road showroom but even there the sales guy was busy talking to someone else when I was taking a TD.
2. Zero follow up post TD
3. While the drive was good and the Virtus styling is impressive, the VW pricing for top end variant was higher (& beyond my company limit), the feature set was smaller and checking out YT videos suggested Verna was pretty impressive Vs its earlier avatars.

I initially opted for the new Creta but due to long lead times and again the top end variant being outside my budget, I just chose the Verna.

Since this one is company owned, I am still debating whether I should spec it up and treat it with just as much love as I did my 2007 Swift Zxi. I guess I will because 3 years down the line I will have the option to buy it outright. And I have always loved my equipment.

So seeking help from fellow BHPians on the following
1. Which tyres ? I want to go for Michelin Sport or Primacy. Any suggesruins ?
2. On PPF and Ceramic - who would you recommend in Gurgaon ? Also should I get both done ? And in which order ?
3. Which is the best shop for accessories ( I am not looking for adding more chrome/bling but good , durable, essential stuff as the dealer seemed to be out of stock on most)
4. As far as I know there isn’t a need to change much else ( I have K&N filters on my Swift and Borla aftermarket exhaust). Should I change the standard OEM stuff now or later ( don’t want to void any warranty right now).

Congrats on joining the Verna tribe. I have the same colour and variant which I bought in Oct 2023 and have done about 3100 kms so far!

1. Which tyres ? I want to go for Michelin Sport or Primacy. Any suggesruins ?

Why change the tyres? Stock work very well.

2. On PPF and Ceramic - who would you recommend in Gurgaon ? Also should I get both done ? And in which order ?

I am in Bangalore and got PPF done; Ceramic also will be good but PPF offers better protection.

3. Which is the best shop for accessories ( I am not looking for adding more chrome/bling but good , durable, essential stuff as the dealer seemed to be out of stock on most)

Did you try the Hyundai dealer itself? Are the prices more or the range not enough?

4. As far as I know there isn’t a need to change much else ( I have K&N filters on my Swift and Borla aftermarket exhaust). Should I change the standard OEM stuff now or later ( don’t want to void any warranty right now).

I have done quite a lot of mods over 15 years for my cars from Suzuki Swift to Skoda Rapid & Kushaq including ECU remaps, decals, seat cover changes, Music players, external skirtings, etc. However, this time I believe Hyundai has given a good package for the Verna top end variants, in terms of looks and comfort, so would not recommend any changes really. The 1.5 Turbo DCT is a punchy engine and does not need any mods if you ask me! Chassis and engine support each other very well, so why spoil the dynamics and handling?

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

Thanks @PeteKing75 for your inputs.

On Tyres, you maybe right, there may not be any need to change. I am however a Michelin fan, and from previous experience i do know that they make a difference in road noise, and control. Will however take your input and check with a friend who works at Apollo Tyres.

I read up about PPF and that does seem to be a useful addition to protect the body from all the various dirt and small grit/ sand which keeps assaulting the paint/body work.

The dealer experience on accessories was disappointing. They were even out of stock on basic mats !! Will check again when I go for getting the registration plate.

Congrats on the purchase! Wish you many happy miles.

1) Although I am still running stock on my Verna, I'll for sure go with Primacy when the time comes. Had them on my City and A6 and just loved the grip and performance it provided.

2) With this particular shade you are better off going with PPF, it's expensive but worth the outcome and peace of mind.
I got it done for my car at Heera Motors in Sukhrali, he's been my trusted mechanic for the past decade and just a year back opened his detailing studio. Did a great job with satisfactory results. You can find the location in T-BHP directory.
Also, I posted the job done here so you can find it just a few pages back.

3) Oyster Carz in Sector 14 has been my go-to for many years, polite guy and has a variety of accessories at decent prices.

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

First of all Thank you so much @Ruchir031- I love the way fellow-BHPians cheer on each other, great to be part of a community which is encouraging !

I did go around for a recce today, crossing across the highway to Old Gurgaon. Clearly, Old Gurgaon seems to have better options on car accessories & detailing. Thank you so much for your suggestions for both options of PPF and accessories.

Let me also look up your post on the job done on your beauty.

BTW I am new also to Automatic's... drove manuals for over 24 years, so being extra cautious as I drive. Feels almost like the 1st few days when I learnt to drive and took my 1st car ( an Alto) for a drive. There is a phantom urge to change the gear ever so often. Guess it will go with time !

Congratulations and welcome to the Verna tribe.

PPF and Ceramic both have their pros and cons. Please read through many posts on TBHP itself that should help you make up your mind.

In case you decide to go with ceramic, check out 5C Car Care in sector 66. It's owned by TBHPian AJ56 and he is very knowledgeable in this topic.

1 - Considering your location, I'd suggest you to stick with your stock tyres. They are not bad by any chance in terms of grip but its the robustness they offer that should be your priority. If you still want to go for a tyre swap, go for Continentals or Yokos for a balance of performance and robustness.
4 - Do not mess with the warranty at all. The car in its stock form is a pleasure to drive, extend and retain your warranty.

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

Went on a early morning drive to Lavasa yesterday in my Verna. Thought of elaborating the driving experience here. For the uninitiated, Lavasa was launched with much fanfare a couple of decades ago as India's first private hill-station township along the banks of the Varasgaon dam catchment area. A lot of initial residential infrastructure was built, but then it ran into several legal disputes. Long story short, post the pandemic, it has become virtually a ghost town, with most of the buildings looking abandoned, and some unfinished structures reminiscent of Jurassic Park 2's visuals.

To reach there, one has to drive from Pune via Pirangut area, climb up a hill range, descend into a valley, go past small villages, on to the Temghar dam, and then begin another, steeper climb with hairpin bends. It is a test of driving skills no doubt, and then when you get to the top, after paying an (stiff) entry fee, you again descend into the valley, this time, with somewhat gentle but continuous road bends. So you as a driver, and the vehicle itself, get a thorough workout !
But when you have 160 horses handled by a quick shifting DCT at your disposal, and a Sport mode to trigger them, boy, it is like igniting afterburners. You actually get a pushback and the car just launches like a plane on take off, even on relatively steep inclines. The steering does become noticeably heavy, and you get a sense of being in a sport-oriented vehicle. The handling of the car is quite firm and tight, even my wife, for once, did not mind being driven around in that state. Usually she is quick to ask me to tone down the thrill. It was awesome, had the road conditions been a 100 % smooth as they used to be a few years ago, then it would have been a sublime experience. But still, that route is the best one in Pune region to test your vehicle handling abilities and also it is pretty light on traffic (for the aforesaid reasons probably) which helps.
For those who have never been there, do make a half-day trip just for the drive. Take a few snaps of the dam waters and the surrounding mountains. Nothing much else to do, unfortunately. I covered the photos separately in the Smartphone photography thread referenced below:

Congrats on your new machine!!

I believe Michelin is not offering 16 inchers in India. At least I was told so. Continental UC 6 or Yoko blu earth are equally very good. I changed to Conti UC 6 and reduction in road noise is pretty noticeable

For PPF in Gurgaon, I would recommend the Detailing Devil Red Carpet studio. A good quality PPF is a very good investment if you're the kind of person who feels the smallest of scratches on your machine is a stab to your heart.

All the best and enjoy the power this turbo machine can offer!!

Hi, could you please share the information on where you got the lights changed from. In one of your posts you have mentioned having added projector fogs from Motofocusz, adyar, chennai. I wonder whether if it’s the very same place, you got your Halogen bulbs changed too. Thanks!

I have booked for Verna 1.5 Turbo SX(O) DCT Fiery Red single tone. It’s planned for delivery around the 10th of March.

Btw this is my first post and I’m so happy to be a part on this wonderful community.
Greetings to all.

Congratulations on the car! Yes, the LED swap for all turn indicators, boot light, numberplate light and the reversing light was done by Motofocusz.

Re: 2023 Hyundai Verna Review

LOT OF CONFUSION CRETA OR VERNA

As I explained in my last post, I shortlisted Verna over Slavia, Virtus, and City. Took my wife to Garve Hyundai, Wakad last Saturday to show her my choice. We saw the car in & out and took a good 8-10 Km test drive both on the highway and city.

The test drive vehicle was a 1.5L turbo DCT. Below are a few of my observations.

Verna feels solid, Door thud gives confidence
The cabin feels modern and nice. The red tubing on the 1.5 turbo is appealing.
Fit and finish are good Hyundai standards
All required features in this price band are given except for wireless charging and a 360-degree camera.

One of my contacts in Hyundai has confirmed that a 360-degree camera will be introduced in Verna during the facelift in 2026.

On the rear seat, the space is superb. Very nice under-thigh support.

The car feels sturdy and planted on the road. I took it till 120KMPH and it doesn't feel like that speed inside.
ADAS features are awesome and work flawlessly.

I asked SA to get the car again for the longer test drive. if required, I am ready to fill the petrol and he agreed without the hassle of me filling the fuel.

We left the showroom thinking of booking it in a couple of days.

NEXT DAY...

On Sunday, I took my father & brother to show them what I am booking. After checking the Verna, they feel a little uncomfortable because of the low seating.

Then they sit inside the new Creta and feel more comfortable and airy compared to Verna. Plus the panoramic sunroof and high seating make them feel even more pleasure.

Dad immediately asked me to consider this one. Now the problem is Creta is ~3 Lacs above Verna.

Prices quoted
Verna 1.5 turbo DCT (SXO) - 2108000 OTR
Creta 1.5 MPi IVT(SXO) - 2276000 OTR
Creta 1.5 turbo DCT (SXO) - 2424000 OTR
Creta 1.5 CRDi AT(SXO) - 2474000 OTR

As per SA, there will be a further discount on Verna but not a single rupee discount on Creta.

I have a budget of 20 Lac + 2-3 Lac and I am still on the edge of Verna. I finally convinced the family for Verna and for the sake of a better deal was looking at some other showrooms.

Meanwhile, I came across the below thread on TBHP for Hyundai DCT Vs CVT

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/suvs-...a-dct-cvt.html (Hyundai Creta - DCT or CVT?)

As per this thread and many other YouTube videos, I realized that DCT is not for the Indian condition and many BHPians have suggested the IVT (CVT).

Now the dilemma before me is, if I go for Verna IVT, I will miss many of the good features with are there in DCT (why Hyundai why)? which I do not want to compromise on.
On the other hand, if I opt for Creta IVT (1.5 MPi IVT SX(O)), it will cost me 22.76 Lacs.
Moreover, Creta IVT comes with all the top-end features same as DCT.

Need suggestions on a few points from the owners and the DCT experts

I like the sedans but I am OK with SUVs also. Verna looks dam sexy to me from certain angles. The front is Okeesh though.

What is your opinion on the DCT? Although it is very clear from the DCT vs CVT thread but do you guys find an improvement in Verna's DCT?, especially in bumper-to-bumper traffic? Owners pl comment

If I go for the IVT (Verna or Creta), it is mated with the NA engines. How much I am going to miss on the fun-to-drive part and performance with a full load?

What is your take on Creta IVT overall? It comes with all the features but has not been tested by GNCAP yet. when I checked with SA, he said the body shell is updated and very soon it will be tested for BNCAP. He also showed the bonnet weights of old and new Creta for confidence.

Does it make sense to go for New Creta (IVT or diesel AT) over New Verna (DCT)? Almost 4.5 Lac extra for diesel AT.
I know it is not an apple-to-apple comparison but want to know your views.

My daily run is 50 km and a couple of long trips in a year. Also, I will keep the car for a longer duration; say above 10 years.

MOD: I would like to put this post in the New Creta thread as well as some Creta owners can give some valuable suggestions.
