Very interesting that it came with a cross tyres and not highway tyres. For a vehicle like the Hycross, my preference would to be always a highway tyre. The reasons is that it gives the best grip at speeds and braking under wet conditions. My personal favourite in the current market is Continental UC6 for its balance of Comfort, grip and silence. The second would be Yokohoma Bluearth and Bridgestone Turanzas. Not sure, if the Hycross tyre size is available for these models. But, you will have to check that out.

I tried searching on AIS website but it doesn't provide any quantitative figures. A query on ChatGPT returned below answer

"IR-cut (infrared-cut) windshields in passenger cars are designed to block a significant portion of infrared radiation to reduce heat buildup inside the cabin. The actual amount of IR blocked depends on the specific technology and manufacturer, but here’s a general idea:

Typical Infrared Blocking Performance:

Near-Infrared (NIR, 780–2500 nm):
IR-cut windshields usually block 40% to 70% of NIR radiation. Some high-end coatings can block up to 90% in targeted wavelength ranges.

Mid-Infrared (2500–25,000 nm):
These wavelengths are more effectively blocked by other materials and are less relevant for solar heat gain, but specialized windshields may still attenuate them.

Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER):
This includes IR, visible, and UV energy. TSER values for IR-cut windshields typically range from 40% to 60%, with high-performance glass reaching over 65%.

These windshields use technologies like:

Laminated glass with IR-reflective interlayers

Metal oxide or silver-based coatings

Embedded particles that reflect or absorb IR

Bonus: What’s Not Blocked

Most IR-cut windshields still allow some IR through for sensors (like for ADAS or toll tags) and are designed to avoid interference with devices like GPS or mobile signals

Bison Comes Home!

Here is the timeline from booking to delivery -
21st Jan - Booking - ZX(O) in Blackish Aghea Glass Flake
2 follow up's done post booking one on 8th Feb and another on 6th March (read on this forum that dealers receive stock details on the 5th ).
10th March - Sales rep confirmed that vehicle will be allotted to me and the payment process can start
26th March - vehicle received at dealership, VIN and Engine number shared
29th March - PDI completed with help from Zekardo, accessories finalized
4th April - Registration completed
5th April - Vehicle delivered

Overall the experience with the sales team at Ravindu Toyota was smooth, helpful sales rep and not a very pushy accessories rep. All questions throughout the booking to delivery process was handled patiently and to my satisfaction.

For accessories I opted for the front and back under runs, roof ornament, dashcam, side door moulding, underbody & silencer coating and ambient footwell lighting. There was no pressure to choose accessories and I picked what suited my taste.

On the day of the delivery, the sales rep walked me through all the documentation provided, explained service intervals, provided details of the Fastag provided for the vehicle, helped install and set up the Toyota i-connect app and gave a demo of all controls and features. The accessories rep walked me around to show all the fitments done, explained how the DVR or dashcam works, final payment for accessories was completed.

Along with the key handing over ceremony, Ravindu gave out a car perfume and a small gift. The overall process was smooth and nothing over the top, was happy with the experience.

The sales rep confirmed that the car had around 5 liters of petrol, ODO was 7Kms, handed over the gate pass and rolled out. Considering the distance from dealership to my preferred fuel bunk near my residence plus Bangalore traffic, I did not want to take a risk. Filled in fuel for 2K at the nearest bunk and once I reached my locality went over to my regular bunk and topped up fuel. Overall the car took 50.5 liters combined at both the locations.

Saturday traffic is the worst in Bangalore and driving a brand new car through it plus switching over from manual to automatic made me super nervous, it was a stressful drive. Things eased out once I got to familiar roads, the car was blessed and prayers completed, time to retire it for the day. Maneuvering through tight apartment parking space was a challenge but I had the confidence that I will get used to it in a few attempts.

Two weeks out, have around 290 kms on the ODO - predominantly start stop traffic from home to office and one longish 110 kms trip to test out the ADAS features. Mileage shows 13.4 as of today, the best it's got to is 14.5 and the worst was on day one where it showed 2.5 kmpl. Not too bother about the milage for now, will start observing post first service.

Initial impressions:

If you are moving from a smaller car be prepared for a learning curve. Having said that it should not take you much time to get comfortable. Its been two weeks and probably would have taken the car out 8 to 10 times and I feel a lot more confident handling it. In spite of its size, it is easy to drive in the city and all the sensors and 360 camera make parking easy as well. Hopefully over the next couple of months, I should feel a lot more relaxed while driving and let muscle memory take over.

Loved the ADAS features, experiencing it for the first time and I love how precise and non-intrusive it is. I am not a very aggressive driver and felt that the car has adequate power to suit my driving style and that move from manual to automatic is a cakewalk.

Loved the AC, small features like Hold for bumper to bumper traffic and yes the Toyota i-connect app. I have this habit of checking multiple times if the car is locked and the app is the medicine for a disease like that also one of the days the rear window was lowered and I missed closing it. Once I got home, the alert on the app about the open window was impressive and I could close it from home without having to step out.

I am not an audiophile and the music system is fine for me, wireless car play works like a charm and I love the small things like reminders on things left on the rear seat, welcome seats feature, all the sensors helping with parking in tight spaces, call clarity while answering phone etc.

I am yet to test out the head lights on a dark stretch or on the highway, something that I am weary about. Looking forward to get some free time for a longish drive to understand the car better and test its highway performance.

And yes before I sign off, we have named our car Bison, it's just the sheer size and sturdy feel of the car that made me zero in on the Hycross and it might be the color as well - Blackish Aghea GF, it gives me a glistening Bison like feeling and hence the name with full love - Bison!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hey Folks!

Has anyone been facing any loop recording issues with the Toyota dashcam (Part A-P66A30K001)? I got it installted last year from dealer. I replaced the 32gb SD card provided with a 128 gb class 10 max endurance Sandisk one so I can have about 10+ hrs worth of recording intact (128gb is the max storage the dashcam seems to support).

But it looks like the dashcam is unable to loop record once the card is full. I have tried changing the loop recording setting to 3 mins as well as 5 mins but land up with the same issue. Once the card is full, it stops recording and does not even alert properly about the recording being stopped, which is also very frustrating. Although sometimes if you manually play around with some of the buttons, i see a memory error message popping up on the dashcam.

Wondering if someone has faced this and has any suggestions? The 128 gb SD card by itself on my PC seems to working perfectly fine.

Toyota Innova Hycross Review-img_20250416_191348__01.jpg

I was clicking the Hycross pic with my Creta when The Wife pointed out the obvious : the Suzuki badge ! In hindsight, I had glanced at the alloys and saw they were different.

One question : why does the Hycross, Hyryder, Honda City hybrid and even the upcoming Kia Seltos hybrid all use NA engines? Are turbocharged engines not suitable for hybrids ?

Hybrid power trains can very well be turbocharged. Turbo hybrids are very popular in the American market. Toyota offers twin turbo V6 hybrid engines on premium models like Sequoia and Landcruiser, while Grand Highlander and RAV4 also get turbo hybrid options.

It is just a matter or choice, what the company is willing to offer to the market.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Our Hycross completes 60k Kms on the odo:

The car has completed 60k Kms on the odo recently in almost 21 months of ownership and so far, there are no issues with the car except for that infamous tak-tak issue while steering the car to left. But, I don't think it has vanished and I'd have to ask our chauffeur about this.

And, another issue we faced was alarm issue, which happens intermittently. To get rid of this thing, I had uninstalled the Toyota i-Connect app and reinstalled it again.

Since the car has completed 60k Kms on the odo, planning to get it serviced and replace the tyres as well.

I guess ours is the first Hycross Hybrid in this forum to complete 60k Kms on the odo in almost 2 years of ownership though I've seen a Hycross doing 90k Kms in a year at Toyota ASC.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I installed Toyota provided dashcam in my Hycross VX(o) from Nandi Toyota, Bangalore. However, the viewing angle of the camera is incorrect with front camera recording the area below the windshield more and only half of windshield area. Also, the back camera is pointing upwards more. This is probably because these are installed on glass directly which has an inclination. Anyone else facing this issue? Thinking of taking the vehicle back to service center to fix this.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Recently, a good friend of mine took delivery of his new 2025 Innova Hycross VX Hybrid (manufactured March 2025). This was after another friend in our circle had bought and, trust me, this car changed my perspective on the Monocoque chassis, FWD, Hybrid Innova. The other friend's car is a 2024 model, and the only difference we noticed is the new PHEV badge on the front fender.

There were couple of things my friend wanted to immedietly change. So as soon as he took delivery, the car had it's wheel changed to a set of Lenso alloys and 245/50/R18 tyres. Apart from that, the other modifications were cosmetic.

There was one thing he noticed over a week of driving the car. The car pulls to the right while accelarating and to the left on light braking (could not replicate this on hard braking). The first plan of action was to check the alignement. The alignement report had no issues. We checked wheel balacning as well. Again, no issues there. The only thing left was to report it to Toyota.

The car was taken to Nandi Toyota (Kudlu gate) to report the issue. Initially, they blamed it outright on the wheels being aftermarket. The only way we could really check this out was by swapping the wheels with the other friend's wheels from his Hycross. This was done at Nadhi itself, and the issue was persistent.

Two weeks back, my friend was called by the service centre, where they found 2 other customer cars with the same issue. Another one arrived at the service centre last week (presumably a showroom demo car), and my friend got to test it out. The same problem persists, but to 50% of what it is on his car. This either seems to be a defect in a batch of 2025-manufactured Hycross. Nandhi Toyota has said that the issue has been reported to TKM, where they will look into this and figure out the root cause.

Would like to know if anyone else is aware of this issue, especially someone who would have picked a Hycross this year. Hopefully, TKM comes back with an answer to the issues with the car.

Mine is a Mar 2025 model with the HEV badging. I have driven 300+ Km till now and even on highways for long stretch but haven't noticed such an issue. Have the service centre told its a issue pan India with all models of 2025?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

A few questions for all Hycross owners who booked their cars ONLINE through Toyota's website -

- How was the booking and delivery experience - Pros and Cons?
- Did the dealer give you a poorer experience because you did not book directly through him?
- Was it easier for you to track your vehicle's delivery period?
- Any other pointers?

Also I see very few photos of the Bronze color on our forum, which I feel is very sophisticated and the lighter color suits our climate, in this fad to buy darker/black cars. Any Bronze color owners on the forum and their experience with that particular color?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers...

We have 2 hycross in the family (ours in white ZXO while my uncle has the bronze VX). We got the white as other colors were low in production for the ZXO (and also because of Innova Crysta was Bronze). I would have preferred it again as it is a super easy color to maintain and looks very classy but we wanted the car soon and this was the easiest option.

Dust barely shows on it and a good wipe gets it shining. That said, please do keep in mind that the Toyota paint quality, at least to me feels a notch below the Skoda that you are used to (i have had the Laura-Octavia and A4 over the last 15 years). Sharing a pic below of the VX for reference for you (just after the car was cleaned).

The best option would be to take to back to the service center and ask them to fix the angle. I got the DVR installed too and no such issues.

Mine is a March manufactured vehicle as well and no such issue observed so far in the 500 odd kms driven.

I booked online in April 2024 (yes, last year) and the thoroughly unprofessional dealer Globe Toyota in Mohali not only has not delivered the car, but does not respond rto any requests for updates. My sequence number has not moved for months and raising it with Toyota is futile because they do not touch their dealers and give them a free hand in continuing with malpractices. They are absolutely tone deaf and arrogant.
