My drives are going to be on the highway and if the EV mode is going to have a speed limit of 60 km, then it would be a real waste since my average speeds are around 80 to 100 km. Please advise. EV mode button next to the gearbox is for moving the car around parking lots without turning the engine on and is thus limited to 40kmph.

in normal hybrid mode, the car switches to EV mode at almost any speed as long as you aren’t accelerating.

You won’t cover any significant distance in pure EV mode but the system as a whole provides significantly greater fuel efficiency, power and responsiveness than even the diesel Crysta and Fortuner.

The same thing happened with me in Varanasi here with Rajendra Toyota when I went to book a Hycross ZXO.

Asking for a test drive was like...."What! How dare you ask for a test drive of the mighty Hycross."

The salesperson asked me to go touch and feel a customer car that was VX and then come back and book a ZXO.

They forced me to take an insurance at 2L plus, ceramic coating at over 50K, Extended Warranty of 2 years at 80K, Useless accessories of 1.5L.

If I agree, my booking amount of 50K will be accepted and I will be in line for about 5-6 months.

This attitude was totally uncalled for from the Rajendra Toyota sales team and I drove to AGR Nexa showroom nearby.

The sales team at AGR Nexa apologized for the non availability of the test drive vehicle and in the next 3 days I was given 3 test drives, 1 at my office and 2 at my residence.

They were giving free extended warranty, few free accessories and even ready delivery. The entire deal on table made a difference of 4L plus between Invicto Alpha Plus and Hycross ZXO.

Having driven both they are technically the same car but the Invicto I feel has better ride quality due to thicker side wall protection. For ottoman, with the battery back underneath the front seats, our family of 6ft plus didn't find it to be of much use and for the JBL, you always have better upgrades available.
Rest, the value of Invicto Alpha Plus is way better Hycross ZX or ZXO.

I think it's a nobrainer and plan to go about buying Invicto Alpha Plus this month.

Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Regards

Thanks very much, Cresterk, this is very useful since it wasn't clear to me until now why I would buy a hybrid Hycross and drive it in pure petrol mode on the highways! Considering the long waiting periods for the hybrid, I am thinking of trying the Invicto too!

1. I asked Toyota for the same, but they refused to work on any third party accessories. They asked me not to fiddle with the electrical system as the hybrid system is very 'complicated'. They did mention that warranty should remain intact as long as no wires are cut. Can someone with the understanding of the electrical system explain the risks, if any?

2. Which fuse should I use for connecting the hardwire kit?

Attachment 2660673
I got it installed from a FNG. We used the USB fuse for ACC and hazard fuse for VCC.

The only issue is the A pillar panel, removed to route the wires, doesn't fit seamlessly. I hope the showroom fixes this without fuss!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi All,

I am being offered VX8S by Wasan. Below is the invoice. Requesting some clarification from recent buyers at MH State.

Toyota Innova Hycross Review-invoice1.jpg

1. Insurance is offered in 3 + 3 years for both OD and TPD. Is it mandated by government or 1+1 / 1+3 is also acceptable?
2. Should I opt for Ext. Warranty? What is expert advice? I am intended to keep the vehicle for 10+ years
3. What is VAS package? Any info.

Thanks in advance.

Vas is a service package, remove it if you don’t want also take only those accessories that you like from the complete package shown here, and take the extended warranty if you want no harm in getting extending warranty.
The insurance quoted looks insane ask for a much more reasonable quotation, generally, it is 1+3, and anything above 1.5L is just too much.

I paid ~93K for 1 + 3 last year for ZXO, followed by ~45K for second year.

After driving approx 1500 Kms this is how I see it -
It’s more about how fast you accelerate (which in turn depends on the rate at which you press on the accelerator pedal) which decides when the hybrid system switches to engine mode from EV mode. On conservative side I have seen this happening at about 40Km/h.
About the distance which the vehicle can cover in pure EV mode - I have been dropping my son to his college and returning most mornings. This place is at an elevation. While going uphill it’s a mix of EV mode and engine mode. However while returning with a combination of some downslope and some plains with low traffic I have been able to cover 4.3 Kms in pure EV mode during which I even saw car cruising at 60km/h in EV mode with light foot on pedal. But as someone in this thread has responded, this vehicle is not designed for use in pure EV mode. I get 15-16Km/L in mostly city driving. Coming from 2.8L Diesel Innova Crysta this is a 50% bump in mileage for me in similar driving conditions and I’m happy.

I have been using this app (Auto Expense) on iOS to track the cost of ownership of this vehicle. Same or equivalent should be available on Android as well. I enter odometer readings and total fuel that went in during every refill. Reminders for routine periodic servicing plus additional things I intend to do (like oil change every 5000 Kms instead of of proposed 10,000Kms and tire rotations and wheel balancing every 5K Kms etc ) are available and useful. Interestingly reminders can be set for time period or odometer readings - whichever happens earlier. Posting a screenshot of same. (If the part regarding the app doesn’t belong to this thread, I request moderators to move this post to wherever they feel appropriate )

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Looking for some guidance here from fellow hycross owners. My car delivery is due in the next week and I am looking around to get my car ceramic/graphene coated.
Can anyone share contacts of detailers specifically in Mumbai Western Suburbs [especially Borivali] and what has been your experience.

Dealer charges 17.5K for dashcam official accessory (front and back). There is no rattling in A-Pillar Panel after installation.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hey everyone,

We took delivery of our (my mother in-law's) White Hycross VX last Thursday.

We set out to pick something up in the 20L segment and had zeroed in on the Elevate. However, I made the mistake(?) of ordering a test drive of the Hycross too.

Long story short, both my MiL and Wife were so smitten by it that we extended the budget considerably and got the VX. The Team-BHP logic of getting the better, more expensive car and hanging on to it longer prevailed.

Having driven it around 300 km so far, we are all very happy with the purchase.

The car is a polar opposite to my Slavia DSG especially in terms of the way the powertrain drives but still pretty good fun to drive in its own way (a 7 seater "van" has no business moving off so effortlessly and quietly ).

All the posts on this thread helped tremendously with the decision making process. So thanks a ton!

Special thanks to @Cresterk for being a key driver of this thread

Some noob questions:

1. Apart from hitting the power button under the infotainment screen, is there no way to mute audio via the buttons on the steering wheel?

2. How does one get Trip A and Trip B to appear on the MID at the same location where one sees the odo readout?

3. I tried the procedure outlined in the user manual to the T multiple times, in order to get the doors to unlock upon the driver opening his door. Tried it with both the keys. It simply isn't working. Am I missing something?

1. You can mute or play/pause by long pressing the mode button on the steering wheel you will hear a beep when it is done.
2. You can cycle through the trip meters by pressing the black knob present on the instrument cluster and to reset the trip meter just long-press the knob.
3. This is a tricky process I have set the custom setting to unlock all the doors when shifted from D to P as shown in the manual, the mistake I made was that I didn’t release the lock/unlock button after 5 sec, you have to release the button after 5 secs.
