You can buy a new Camry with huge discounts ranging from 7-10 Lakhs, why buy a used one?

The Hycross is definitely worth the money, of all the vehicles I own the Hycross is the most used for highway runs the major reason being comfort, peace of mind (reliability of Toyota) and the average which ranges from 16 KMPL - 18 KMPL.

I have never really recommended any car to anyone as it is a very personal choice but I do recommend the Hycross to anyone looking for a car from this price range.

Thanks @Rajjaiswal
True ownership experiences like yours are tilting the scale for Hycross' favour!

Even with a 10 lakh discount, the new Camry will be north of 40 lakhs on road. Given the last month's water logging situation, including a time where my wife and mother were almost left stranded when they were navigating their way out of a knee deep water flooded street, I am of the opinion that if I am spending in excess of 30 lakhs on a car, might as well get one which can reasonably wade through water.

The used Camry however at 15-16 lakhs however is tremendous value to not be considered.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Did anyone get the 40k Kms service done on their Hycross Hybrid till date?

And, how much does the 40k Kms service cost?

Asking because our car has crossed 40,000 Kms on the odo a week ago and will be going to ASC for service this week.

Also, our car is in stationery since 4th Sep as my dad is not in town now.

On the flip side, I am also contemplating buying a used Camry Hybrid, 2017-2018 model year.
Not sure if 2017-18 Camry is the current(india market) gen car as I too was confused between used Camry(current generation) vs hycross and found Camry to be too overpriced in used car market(30+ lakhs in bangalore)

Hycross is a great choice in 30 lakh segment(hardly any competition), drives like a car(I swapped my corolla altis) is extremely frugal(18-19 kmpl in peak bangalore traffic) and has good power and manoeuvrable in city

If you plan to keep the car for 10+ years, find the third row useful for those rare occasions, you should opt for hycross.

I never needed 7 seater car, so went with rear captain seats and find it very comfortable and with easy access to third row, it is very usable too

Our chauffeur has given the car for service today and the estimation I got is Rs.18k, where I'd be getting all the filters changed along with WA and WB. The labour itself has costed Rs.9k, which is bit shocking to me to say the least.

Will post the actual bill after the car is back from the service.

Hey @rajshenoy, no the used camry I am talking about are not the current generation on sale, which is essentially a Lexus ES. Its one generation before, which was on sale from 2016-2018 if I am not wrong. They are available for anywhere between 15-17 lakhs in Mumbai, by only apprehension with these cars is the longevity of hybrid batteries.

Another point for the Hycross, its making a very very strong case for itself!

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi Team-Bhpians,
I have given my Hycross VX for 1st year servicing, driven around 7300 KM, very gently handled it till now, no rough terrain drives. SA from Nandi toyota suggested Wheel alignment/balancing every 10000 Km/ every year which ever comes first and also added so many line items (not sure if all of this is required or not). Is it really required? The bill is around 13000/-. Please find the estimate provided by the SA.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Don't pay anything to this moron. Just get the engine oil, air filter and oil filter. That's it.
No need for all these useless things. And do file a complaint against him. Who suggests engine flush at 7500 kms?
No need for wheel balancing and alignment, injector cleaning and all the other nonsense. He will definitely confuse you and say car will demand repairs in the future, just don't listen to him.

You can opt out of the followings which are useless, IMHO, considering yours has run a few thousands. You easily save 6-7K.

It's a scam to add items not part of the service to the estimate when all you did was to ask them to perform x000 service. Mention them explicitly not to add a single item not recommended by Toyota during the service. Cross check with the user manual as well. These are the red flags that I can straight away spot.

17199 OTHERS - AIR CLEANER 998729 1,547.10 - What do they mean by Air cleaner? If they meant the air filter / cabin filter, its replacement intervals are much larger ( 30,000 kms or so )

All of the below are scams forced on you.
  • 17199 - ENGINE DECARBONISATION null - Scam!
  • 17899 OTHERS - EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM 983.65 - Scam!
  • 17899 - EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION VALVE CLEANING null - Scam!
  • 99TGSH01 TGLOSS AC Duct Cleaning and Disinfectant 998729 1,459.00 - This should be done only if you ask for it explicitly. No business being part of regular service.
  • 99TGSH01 - AC DUCT AND EVAPORATOR CLEANING null - This should be done only if you ask for it explicitly. No business being part of regular service.
  • 99TGSP03 TGLOSS Silencer Coating 998729 1,543.00 - No business being part of regular service
  • CLEANER INJECTOR 38119000 1 1,207.00 - This is not recommended for Hycross in India. But, in some countries, it's recommended as per user manual.
  • ENGINE, FLUSH 27101990 1 1,239.00 - Engine flush at 10000 kms???? What are they smoking ?

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Hi, quick question - in NCR we have 10 year rule for diesel vehicles. Does Hycross Hybrid come under this rule or does it have a longer time to run on NCR roads?

This is unToyota, I have heard very good customer care from Toyota service, in fact they are well known for it, may be someone is trying to extract maximum out of a customer.

Which dealership is this, so that we know where to be cautious?

Thanks @Amalji and all others who responded so fast. I got a bit late in refuting as he had already completed the tasks in 40 minutes . He completed the Wheel alignment/balancing unfortunately. Also included the Engine flush/ cleaner injector. Wow, this is all a scam. Unnecessarily spent so much. Thanks all. I think the final bill is 5000/- including -
Wheel alignment 955.00
/balancing/ 1,146.00
CLEANER INJECTOR 1,207.00
ENGINE, FLUSH 1,276.00
Labour - 2,101.00
Parts - 2,483.00
Total - 4,584.00
Total Tax - 1,312.26
Total Amount with Tax - 5,896.26

This has become common practice with dealers in Bangalore these days irrespective of brand. Even after haggling they manage to squeeze few "Value additions".
