Honda Elevate or G Vitara/Toyota HyRyder.

Some YouTube channels mention the Maruti-Toyota siblings are best. Few others say Elevate. Then again we have the Magic Carpet ride of Citroën.

I personally found the Elevate to be best.

Also seek a specific input- how to parametrically assess ride comfort without the ambiguity of individual bias?
I personally found Elevate to have the best balance of firmness and comfort at low speeds. At high speeds its a bit too firm for my liking and the NVH levels high.

The Creta was too comfort oriented at low speeds and at high speeds has slightly "boat like" suspension with not so good High speed manners.

The GV/Hyryder have a good balance between firmness and comfort at higher speeds, but at low speeds the ride is a little bit firm compared to Elevate and Creta.

Haven't driven Citreon yet.

Hope that helps.

I do not rely a lot on online reviews to assess ride comfort. I prefer taking test drive near my home on known stretch so that I can compare the ride with my current car. The road has patches with huge potholes, highway where I can do 70+ kmph drive, inner roads with unrealistic big speed breakers and at last drive in chaotic bumper to bumper traffic if possible.
This way I know I will be satisfied with the car when I own and start driving in on the same stretches.

Grand Vitara:
I only got to test drive Grand Vitara full hybrid on flat tarmac, so I cannot comment on ride quality on bad roads.
The noise is very less inside cabin when car is in EV mode.
The noise from engine can be heard when car switches to ICE mode.
Grand Vitara is easy to drive on highways up to 70kmph.
Cabin noise was less up to 70kmph speed.
The engine is not peppy, so you cannot do spirited overtakes on highways and have to plan the overtakes.

Elevate
I have driven Elevate on road section which was dug up and had huge potholes.
Elevate steering felt good to hold and high ground clearance gave confidence to take the car over some bad patches.
The suspension was able to handle and flatten some of the bad potholes and did not toss people around
I did not get opportunity to test drive Elevate on highways, so I cannot comment on highway drives as some owners have complained of cabin noise.

Is this for Smart Hybrid or Intelligent Hybrid? Do you need active connected car subscription to use the app (like Tata IRA and Mahindra Adrenox subscriptions)?

Yes, subscription is needed .For new cars, first three years are free. After that I think it is 2,299 for 3 years and 999 for a year's subscription upon renewal.

I assume this is a strongHybrid. For my Vitara strongHybrid also I get similar FE figures during drives on the Kochi-Kollam highway in KL which are mostly 2 lane median-less roads with 8-laning construction happening on the full stretch limiting average speeds to 40-50kmph. I drive as fast as road/traffic conditions allow.

Overall FE is 22kmpl (50:50 city & highway) as per MID/App & double checked with full tank method.

I recently did an experiment to see how far it will go on a full tank (as MSIL was advertising 1200kms) & the car was good for 1000kms in an even mix of city-highway usage in Kerala, with my regular driving style. In states with better & wider roads, 1100kms should be easy. And for someone driving steadily for economy keeping speeds within 80-100, 1200kms should be achievable.

This is for the strong hybrid one, sorry to have missed posting it. It comes with Maruti connect which is Maruti's connected tech for its cars.

Re: Maruti Grand Vitara Review

Hullo,

I have been away from this site ever since I purchased an SX4 VXI in 2010 that is due for renewal of registration in a couple of months. Having done 79K on the odometer it is in a fine condition. My only concern is the lack of airbags. I had bought a Swift ZXI (1.3 L) the same year which is largely used as a city runabaout - what an engine! The subsequent models aren't half as hot. The Swift will need renewal in a year's time having done 48K on the odometer.

So, am on the lookout to retire my SX4 in my retirement. I have a budget of 20L. For a car with trouble free retirement for the next 15 years.

After considering all options I now eye the Grand Vitara Zeta 6AT. I liked the Toyota Hyryder's (neodrive) looks and seat colour better but Toyota is, inexplicably, upto 1 lac more in CSD. Toyota hybrid trains are not available in the CSD.

Its irritating to not get a top model option sans sunroof. Also, i am curious why the Maruti/Toyota engineers tried to pass-off a mosquito net as a sunroof curtain. The stupidity doesnt end there - the hybrid cannot be bought without the sunroof at least from Maruti.
All is not lost though. At least Maruti/Toyota, unlike others, have offered a decently furnished option sans sunroof in the Zeta.

The ace suspension, space, and low rpm grunt of the SX4 is difficult to beat even by these new age cars. But the lack of safety is what is egging me to replace it rather than renew its registration.
Let's see.
