Its sad for Scorpio N owners , my relative also rejected it 2 months ago due to its short feature list & bare-bones cabin & myself as well but mainly due to the vertical movement & nose dive. This new Thar will definitely cannibalise the sales of the Scorpio N.
Lets wait for normalisation to happen on the reviews as most of the them are excited and calling it as the perfect SUV. To start with, there is no dual zone AC, no key less entry, 5 seats and all white interiors. There will always be some overlap of customers b/w XUV7OO, Scorpio N and Thar Roxx - Mahindra would be super happy to retain the customer in the stable rather than losing to competition. So as the reviews normalise and as the comparisons (vs. Scorpio N) from main stream media are out, I am sure the persona of a potential customer of both these vehicles would be different. Not because I own one but I prefer the form factor of Scorpio N to be my daily car for going to office and that could be for most who are comparing both these vehicles.

I agree. I come from a Hyundai Grand i10 and at times I feel the smaller hatchbacks are not visible in the blind spots and I am very cautious when changing lanes etc.

Fuel efficiency in traffic is barely around 6-7 KMPL.
My Z8 S P MT has similar FE and I have learned to live with it.

While driving on Atal Setu, could feel air drag during the open stretch at about 100 KPH (when there are no barriers on either side). Some noise was also there inside the cabin, probably due to panel gaps (not sure). Was not confident in sharply changing lanes at that point.
I noticed it too especially if you arent playing any music and thought it must be due to rain visors that came with accessories pack.

I would say the audio quality is quite below average. Not an audiophile but my Ford Figo’s sound quality is better.
I am satisfied with the audio. I am not much of an audiophile and play loud music only when I am alone and on highway.

At my position, there is little space between seat and steering (horizontally) and have to be slightly careful while getting up, otherwise my thighs seem to rub the steering.
I am 6 ft. 3in. And have the same problem. I was under the impression that it's due to my bulky physique. Guess I need to lost some weight

Quote:
There is a lag between pressing the horn button and when it buzzes. Although it is very very minimal, but in the Figo it is instant!
For me it's on the left side of the center pad of steering with the M logo. It doesn't work at times no matter how hard I press but the right side seems to work fine.

I still cannot get over the looks. It really is a very good looking car.
Couldn't agree more.

I wish you many more happy miles with your beast!

I just had a chance to fill my tank up to do a tank to tank calculation. From tank to tank, I did a total of 459 KM. I filled up 40.38 ltrs, tank to tank - cutoff (I don't do the whole brim to brim). That results in a real world mileage of 11.35 KMPL roughly.

Over a 9 hour drive, there was a deviation from a 11.95 KMPL MID reading to 11.35 KMPL real world reading.

This would mean, the real range of Scorpio N P AT is essentially +550 KMPL, assuming 50L of the tank is actually usable and 11 KMPL of mileage.

That being said, I'm done with testing the N's mileage. I'll admit, I got caught up in the numbers game. I'm back to enjoying it for why I got it - smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon.

Cheers.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

I encountered first REGEN on the MID screen at odo of 2747 km and did the park regeneration.
Mine is Scorpio-N Z8 D MT and the surprised to see the REGEN so early. I mostly drive in Bangalore City traffic, should be the main reason.
So worried now, i have to follow this Park regeneration cycle once in every 2 months.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

Frustrating TD experience of the Scorpio N, ended well

Here's my test drive experience of the Scorpio N (I am not going to write about the drive experience, this post is purely on the dealership and the experience of getting the test drive)

14th August: I had some free time in the afternoon and casually decided to check out the Scorpio N as I was anyways planning to buy one soon. Visited Anant Cars on Mysore Road (Bengaluru) But they did not have a test drive vehicle, instead, they offered me the XUV 700 for a test drive, there was a Scorpio N on display, I took a good look at the car and left telling them I will come back by the end of the month.

18th August (Sunday): Decided to test drive with the family and called Anant Cars on Bannerghatta Road as it is the nearest dealer for me. They assigned an SA who confirmed they have the Scorpio N Diesel Manual, I told them I would visit at around 5 in the evening and the SA said they would be open till 8. Due to some personal work, I reached the showroom at 6, the SA showed up after 10 minutes and said we do not provide test drives after 6 PM as there is too much traffic on this road. (Anybody buying a car in Bengaluru would spend half of their life in traffic, how can they deny a TD in the most ideal conditions? Do they not trust their customers? I fail to understand this logic). I asked them to at least run us through the features to which the SA said they'd disconnected the battery of the one on display, you can book a home test drive on weekdays. I told I will confirm and took a good look of the vehicle along with the family. When I decided that I would want to book the home TD for Monday (19th August) the SA had already left without even informing a potential customer. I tried to call him, no response, I texted him, no response. I did not want to disturb him on a Sunday evening so I left.

19th August: Waited till the next day morning, no response yet, I called him again and asked for a TD, and he said there was only automatic for today, I would arrange a manual tomorrow, I said ok and shared my home location.

20th August: Tuesday morning he texted me saying the TD vehicle had gone for service and he could arrange for Wednesday, I lost my cool, called him and took out my frustration. I clearly told him that I wanted the TD today itself even if it was going to be late, he told he would try, but never came back.
A few minutes later I got a call from Anant Cars Mysore Road (which I had visited on the 14th of August) The same SA who had given me a test drive of the XUV 700 informed me that they have a Scorpio N Diesel Manual for TD today and they are ready to provide a home TD if I want, I confirmed the time and shared my home location. Their showroom is around 45 minutes from my home, but they were ready to provide a prolonged TD and they promptly arrived on time. The TD went well, I asked them to provide me the final quote including PPF and then I would be able to take a call.
It is strange to see such a difference between 2 branches of the same dealership. It might just be down to the SA, which made them loose a customer!

21st August: The SA shared the accessory list with cost, I selected the required accessories and asked the SA to share the final cost.

Below is the list of accessories selected (The variant I've opted for is the Z8L D MT 4WD)

Mahindra Scorpio-N Review-whatsapp-image-20240821-3.43.59-pm.jpeg

The total cost break-up is as follows:

Mahindra Scorpio-N Review-whatsapp-image-20240821-4.46.59-pm.jpeg

It has not been a great first impression, but hopefully, it will improve.

- Scorpio N owners, please let me know if you feel any of the opted accessories are not worth it or if you feel I need to add any to the list.
- Has anyone got the PPF done from Mahindra and is it any good?
- Also, please let me know if it is a fair price or if I can negotiate further

Any input from Scorpio N owners in the forum would be very helpful

Skip all accessories and change the variant immediately to AT please, you will thank me later. MT is very good , I have no doubts but the AT is vastly superior.

PPF on a Scorpio , well what has the world come to. Don't baby it, just use the money on diesel and enjoy the drive.

I feel that a 360 camera & a panaromic sunroof are more impactful features for me. The digital cluster also adds that premium factor. As for the looks , I was never a fan of the tailgate on the SN but otherwise it was a good looking car , the 3rd row of seats were useless of us anyways.

Couple all this with the Roxx's lower price & I am afraid that the SN will take a massive hit in terms of sales. People who don't like loud & shouty looking cars will go for the SN , other than that I dont see any reason for skipping the Roxx.

Regardless for me , a BOF vehicle is a strict no, I can't live with such poor dynamics on the road. From this trio , the 700 it is for me

Not a Scorpio owner though, the price of the ppf seems a bit too much. Would suggest to enquire with couple of reputed detailing studios and get a quote.
Transmission choice depends on an individual though, but trust me, the AT is one of the best currently available. Have TDed both MT and AT, after driving my Gurkha, the Scorpio N AT felt like heaven.

In Evo's review, Shirish has pointed that the panoramic sunroof is starting from behind the front seats and wished it started ahead. Yes, missing of 360 camera on SN was a mystery from the beginning. Agree on the other flaws you pointed but no car is perfect.

As an analogy, somehow Roxx happens to be the KTM of the bikes. Definitely superior and well engineered but has got a perception and that keeps some customers away from owning one.

I guess this will the last wave of BOF vehicles under 50L. Its a dieing breed and buying one (atleast for me) was a bucket list.

All aside, really happy for Mahindra brand for coming a long way and positioning itself very strongly as a brand for diverse SUVs.

Have been driving the Scorpio N for last 1 year and 12,000 kms and I will also suggest to go for the AT. Scorpio's AT is just too good and I never missed MT in any conditions, even in highways and in the Bangalore traffic its so relaxing. I feel now I am driving much calmly than before and its mostly because of AT.

I have not gone for full body PPF, I have on the bumpers, door edges and side mirrors, rest body is ceramic and find that to be sufficient.

I see so many Scorpio N owners from Bangalore we should plan for some breakfast drives with some off-road adventure. I am itching to go on some mild off-road drives but don't have the courage to do it alone, it would be great is some us tag along.

That's a great idea! A breakfast followed by a small off-road session is a recipe for a perfect weekend! One of the reasons I am going for the Scorpio N is the occasional off-roading I wish to do, but as you said neither do I have the courage as it is the 1st "SUV" in our family and I have zero experience. Happy to tag along with BHPians!

Panoramic Sunroof Yes, but 360 Camera is overrated IMHO. The L models of Scorpio-N come with front camera and that's enough to judge the gap. After few KMs with the vehicle, once you get the judgment even the front camera seems useless.

Do we have lane watch camera in the SN , for me it is a great feature. 2 of my relatives picked the Harrier over the SN because of the lack of a 360 Camera

No, SN doesnt have. There's only front camera and reverse camera available. Lane watch should be part of ADAS suite. With Roxx now getting the ADAS L2, its clear that SN will soon start having the same. Big question - will it be as part of product refresh or as a feature addition in the immediate near future?

Re: Mahindra Scorpio-N Review

Perplexing, the N still hasn't gotten a 360 camera and an Electric Parking Brake + Autohold, when even a 3XO has it now. M&M bean-counters really confuse me to no end, especially after that sort of stupid omission of the front passenger door handle sensor button.
