Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hey guys,

A quick query here from me. I own a 2023 MY Virtus GT AT. Seeing the latest post with suspension concerns a part of it, let me share my situation too.

I've got a very consistent tuk-tuk sound coming from my rear suspension right from when I start my journey everyday. It is very feeble but very consistent and anybody can hear it unless you put the audio on in about medium sound. Its only on very smooth roads that it goes away. Otherwise its always there.

I got both rear shock absorbers changed under warranty as the VW technician diagnosed that this could be coming from my shocks, but there is no change at all (hopefully they changed it).

Any other team members here facing this issue? Please do share your thoughts.

Thanks

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi, has anyone been able to find a permanent solution for the screeching noise from the front brakes? The ASC (PPS motors) here in Kolkata is clueless.

Although it doesn’t happen all the time and isn’t that bothersome, I would love for it to go away permanently.

Any help in this regard will be much appreciated.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

A one-off Virtus convertible in Brazil.

Quote:
In 2024, in the announcement of the expansion of the brand's investments by R$ 9 billion, President Lula returned to parade in a convertible made especially by Volkswagen for the occasion. This time, the car chosen was a Virtus, also with four doors.
Quote:
the team responsible for creating the prototype had six weeks to complete the project and had 30 people.
Quote:
The chosen Virtus had the Biscay blue paint job and blacked-out interior. According to the manufacturer, the model mixes items from the Highline and Exclusive versions. It has 18-inch wheels and a 250 TSI 1.4 turbofle engine with 150 hp of power and 25.5 kgfm of torque, linked to the well-known six-speed automatic transmission.
Quote:
VW engineers removed the roof assembly. With the absence of the B and C pillars, they had to reinforce other points of the vehicle structure in order to achieve good body rigidity. Remembering that the car was only used internally.

To increase space in the rear seat, the floor was lengthened and the fuel tank had to be lowered (although Volkswagen won't say how much). The rear seat has also undergone modifications with a unique design for this special model.
Quote:
Volkswagen has also developed new exterior trim parts, such as closing parts for the pillars and doors, seats, and fuel tank. It also added a crossbar in the region of the B-pillar, so that the rear occupants, when standing, would have support and safety. Finally, it modified some of the vehicle's electronic management systems, but did not specify which ones.
Now, the Volkswagen Virtus convertible used for Lula and Alckmin's fashion show at the ABC Paulista plant will be in the brand's museum, alongside the Polo Sedan and Fox used in the 2003 and 2005 ceremonies, respectively. The space, however, is not open to the public.

I installed Global brand's Saphire70 recently on my Virtus on all windows including the front windshield. It has 60% heat rejection. Considered to be equivalent to 3M's CR70 but at a nominal price. It does the job of heat rejection pretty decently so far. Haven't had much of an issue. To avoid duplicates, I got them installed by a distributor.

I installed Gear guard. The fit and finish of the protector is good. And it protects the screen entirely. Kind of similar to the tempered glass that we use on mobile phones.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I received multiple calls from VW dealers today trying to sell MY23 stock as I enquired about them in December when significant new year offers were running.

Looks like some update (like 6 airbags on all variants?) Or significant discount is coming and dealers want to offload old vehicles before that? Or is it always the case where significant discounts are offered in February on previous year vehicles?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

End of FY 2023-24 is just around the corner. The dealers are interested in closing their books by accounting as much sales as possible. That's about it.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hello TeamBHPians,
We have shortlisted VW Virtus 1.5 manual and plan to buy it in next 3 months.

I have following doubts about it-
1)Is the AC issue sorted now?
2)What is the fuel efficiency of 1.5 manual compared to 1.5 DSG and 1.0 litre manual for city driving and highway cruising?
3)Is this car reliable?
4)What discounts or offers are available on the 1.5 manual variants?

We plan to exchange our trusted 2012 Honda City V MT for the Virtus. Can we expect similar trouble-free experience?
Thanks in advance.

No, better check it yourself if it is tolerable for you (summer is just around the corner).

Subjective. VAG woes are documented everywhere, here in the forum and on the internet. Just pray you are not one of those unlucky owners.

No, dealing with VW ASS is a pain as you can see from all the experiences shared here from the distressed owners. If you have a spare car and can afford substantial downtime you may consider owning a VAG (in this price range). But again, you could be lucky.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Recently pampered myself with a Lava-Blue Topline1.0AT (detailed ownership review will come soon, driven around 1300km so far). BHPian @kpkeerthi have clarified most points already, I will also try to answer a few.

I took the delivery on 6th Jan & still it isn't that much hot in Kolkata these days therefore my AC isn't fully tested that way. But I recently met a person in VAG workshop (during my 1000km swagat service) who owns a GT DSG who mentioned that he took the car to Bhubaneshwar (about 500km) for a long road trip and AC isn't that great to be frank (I am sad to hear that..:-(). He said that he had to keep the AC in 19deg to make all the people comfortable (with fan speed of 3 to 4). For me, I am getting a very faint hissing sound when I switch on the AC as soon as I start car (it lasts for 10-15 sec). But if I switch on the AC after 4-5 mins of starting the car, that noise doesn't come. And as I mentioned earlier, my AC isn't fully tested yet due to the current weather condition in Kolkata.

For me, its about 55km drive each day (with 30% highway and 70% city drive - although mostly in morning time i.e. not in peak hours). I am getting 15-16kmpl ,I am happy with it, I am sure I will get 19-20kmpl is highway drives and I am hopeful the city mileage will slightly increase after 10K kms.

So far so good for me ,but its only 1300kms so fingers crossed

During my purchase negotiation timeframe (Dec'23), dealer was not at all interested in selling the GT1.5L versions, and was only offering insurance plus few thousand discounts. I wasn't much interested also (for GT) therefore didn't pursue that angle.

Absolutely nailed by BHPian kpkeerthi, +1 to that. For me, I have an ever reliable Honda Jazz for my daily family needs and therefore could think of owning a VW (as a second car) therefore any downtime wont affect me that way. But if I had option of only having a single car, I wouldn't have opted for VW for sure

My Virtus 1.0 AT is from the initial batch of June 2022 - it’s been 19 months and 25300 kms so far. Its staple run is on Kerala’s infamous 2-lane highways. Throw in a 4800 km Trivandrum-Pench-Pune-Goa-Bengaluru-Trivandrum round trip, 2 hop-skips between Trivandrum-Pondicherry (1300 kms each), and I think I can give you a few pointers.

The AC in my car works fine in Kerala’s hot and humid conditions, and held up well even when driving through the hinterlands of AP/Telangana/MH during peak summer in Apr 2023. Maybe I am lucky! Fair warning though - you shouldn’t go in expecting Ford/Hyundai levels of cooling, those are in a different league.

The AC hissing sound, IMHO, is being blown out of proportion. It’s not affected my drive or travel experience in the least.

My car returns a mileage between 12-13 kmpl in urban driving conditions and has gone as high as 22 kmpl on Hyderabad ORR / Samruddhi Mahamarg. I generally drive defensive, with the occasional bouts of pedal to metal on good highways - even then rarely exceeding 100 kph.

The car has worked well so far without a hitch. The ASS in Kerala, while not as transparent as my experience with Ford, is fairly competent and I have not had any issues dealing with them. In fact, I had a steering wobble issue after the drive to Pench last year, and the ASS guys replaced the disc rotors under warranty without a fuss.

To be honest, whether you will have a trouble free experience with any car is a matter of chance, and with the VAG group the perceived risk is high. I had the same doubts before purchase, trust me. But I have been proven wrong so far, and hoping it remains the same way!

Good to hear some non-negative news about Virtus AC. In my experience, there is no challenge for the front passengers. Wanted to know if you had rear passengers and what their feedback was about AC during pear summer.

Hi,

I exchanged my 1.5 Honda City Manual for Virtus GT+ DGS & here are my observations:

1. I have driven 9000 km in TN – Karnataka and I don’t find AC as an issue, On a hot day keep the AC at a lower temperature. Additionally, you have ventilated seats

2. I had Oil leakage in Virtus (my First VW car with such an issue, my luck) they took the car away for a while & gave me a loaner car: Taigun TSI, post that My car is just wonderful to drive

3. 1.5 turbo engine is imported, don’t expect a big discount

4. After-sales Service is just ok, I was never happy with Honda Hyundai or Suzuki, My Honda had persistent brake noise, Bonnet noise & Mic issues, last two issues were not solved till I sold the car at 95,000 km

5. Common issues most of us face (my circle of friends) in VW:
A) Driver window one touch doesn’t work (They update software, still issues persist),
B) Centre console cabin noise (Some of us face),
C) Mild wind noise at 100 kmph driver side window (few of us face) and
D) We face break noise at low speeds

6. Things that wowed me in Virtus:
A) Perfect Looks with black tone,
B) 1.5 Turbo Engine with a fine balance of smoothness & power,
C) DSG Gearbox is very refined
D) Drive pleasure & control,
E) Cruise control at 20 kmph,
F) 2-cylinder Eco mode boost mileage,
G) Passenger seat Height adjustment,
H) High-pixel digital panel
I) Red tone interior in Cherry Red colour car
J) Ventilated Seats,
K) Cooled Glow box,
L) Accessories: Trumpet horn & Garbage bag
M) Car height has helped me in Hill stations

7. Advise: Go ahead with a 6 year warranty & Service pack

Best of luck
