Indeed, the heart pains to see when they dump it from N to D while revving > 4K RPM. The types of stuff they all do in the name of drag races is just sickening.

Moreover, seems that their stretch where they test high speeds is not always closed, some videos show small 3 wheeled tempos accelerating in the wrong way while these people race. (They surely must have good contacts to cordon off random roads in the middle of the day )

This is seriously dangerous driving!

91K after so much abuse is much more than expected

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi Guys.

I have a 14 month old Virtus GT MT.

For some time I am having a problem with brakes. They make this very audible squeaking noise when I brake at low speeds(like less than 10 kph). I have got them cleaned and lubricated twice at the service center.

The problem still persists and it irritates me every day.

I drive my car everyday on the highway for 120 kms for work. The traffic on the highway is very start stop.

Is this problem because of overheating or some fault with the brakes.

Should I get them replaced? I do not think that the replacement brakes from VW will be any better. I do not trust them anymore. Are there any after market ones being sold that can be better for me as I have to drive on the highway everyday and need good braking performance.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

The squeaking noise is due to change in the material used for thr disc brake pad and disc. Its something you have to live with i guess.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Finally got here to update on my purchase of the Virtus GT Automatic in June 2024. Have done about 12000kms thus far, including a 4000km road trip to Gujarat.

The car was a replacement for my 2011 BMW 320d, that served me well for 5 years and 60000kms.

My observations:

What's horrible:

1. The car is so confused (D1/D2) at crawling speeds. Considering the condition of roads around my house, this is a major irritant.
2. The rear seats are not the greatest, when compared to the decade old beemer. The wife complains about how snug the Beemer felt, while this is more of a bench?
3. The mileage takes a big hit, if you are someone that tries to close gaps in traffic. Sigh, this has turned me into a more relaxed driver
4. The ventilated seats don’t seem like it blows air to your back (seems only the bottom works)
5. The 12v socket stays on all the time. My 3channel dashcam is going to make sure the battery is dead pretty soon.

What I love:

1. The lightning quick gearshifts after the initial jitters.
2. Never lacks power, overtaking is a breeze, especially on those 2 lane highways (I do a lot of these, on our regular trips to KL)
3. The stance of the car. This is one stylish sedan.
4. Just love the suspension setup, makes the car a corner craver. Though the missus sitting at the back would prefer a more softer setup.
5. The foldable rear seats are lovely and very useful when we need to move large items. The boot itself is humongous.
6. Everything else about the car wants me to drive it everyday!

1) While I parked the car at my residence (post office return - around 9pm), I noticed that ORVMs didn't retract back when I locked the car! I unlocked/locked a few times back-to-back, no joy either. Then after sometime it did work. I thought, it was an one-off issue & forgot after dinner.
2) Well well well, morning came with another surprise. When I started the car for the school-drop trip for my son, the mirrors didn't open up when I unlocked the car. I again tried a few times locking/unlocking, no joy. Then I was getting late for school so I started the trip anyway. And I could open the mirrors by manually operating the button situated at RH door.
3) Then another issue. After starting the journey, I discovered that I cannot lower-down the Power window of the driver-door. All 3 other windows I could operate but not the one of the driver side! I anyway had no option other than to continue the journey (because of school timing issue). And after driving about 20 mins or so, I tried again and that time it worked! (i.e. I could lower down the driver-side window)
4) And by this time, I also noticed that the one-touch functionality (of the power window) is not working for the driver door. And while parking at office, the ORVMs didn't retract back as well.

So, net net, few of the electronics are not working, that too randomly. Any thoughts / advise from anyone? I have no scope to visit ASS before weekend..:-(

NOTE: My Topline AT is going to complete 1 year in January 1st week. Last month (end of Sept) one of my DRL's got changed (incidentally the driver-side one) under warranty. Other than that, everything went smooth so far
ORVM auto unfolding issue is there in my VW Arteon also. It happens once in a while and I manually control it from the driver side window. I remember having this issue in my previous VW Passat as well.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi Guys, I am a proud owner of the Virtus Highline for 2+ yrs now. The vehicle still gives me the feel of owning a new vehicle and still makes me look back each time I park the beauty queen.

Just one thing which bothers me is the lack of a digital cockpit on my Highline.

Is there any way I can install the official digital cockpit. If not, is there some aftermarket ones that are as accurate as the original ones.

Thanks!

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hey Guys, my car just got back from the swagat service from VW Hadapsar, Pune.
All fluids were topped up and normal checkup was done.
The issue for slow driver power window seems to be resolved, however the horn issue still remains where I need to press the right part of the horn pad a bit more harder to honk.
I raised this with the team and hope to visit them soon for it.
On another note, they seem to have dropped some ink (blue ball point pen type ink, seems like)
On the centre of the hood
And it is clearly visible, since the car is White!

I raised it to the SA and he said he'll check on Monday.
I tried pouring water and wiping it but it didn't even fade.

Better to let the showroom handle it I suppose.

Hello, if you are ok going aftermarket you can even get the digital cockpit VAG cars get in CBU cars like TROC, Tiguan, etc. Try checking instagram channels - retrofitmyvag, vag.planet. Last I checked they were asking approx. 1L for euro digital cockpits. The ones coming in 2.0 cars would be cheaper, please take note I am no way associated with them, just have them in my list for future upgrades.

Please raise issue with Mr. Vinay, he has been quite helpful in these 2.5 years of owing the GT. I hope he would be able to assist and get things fixed for you.

One question, what was done for slow driver power windows? If you are aware do let me know, I will try to get them checked mine too if something can be done. Mine also seems a little slower than it should be.

Thank you for the quick response. Have contacted retrofitmyvag and am trying to find the number to contact vag.planet.

I also would request inputs from somebody who has done the changeover being discussed. Just need to know if it’s actually worth the money and the hassle.

Hey, Sure.
I will check with Mr Vinay as well, since these ink marks on a brand new car ruin the service experience.

I didn't ask them in detail about the fix for power windows, but they said lubrication mostly.
I had read on the forum as well, some people's driver window issue was resolved with lubrication of the motor.

Sometimes I feel that too, and I checked the settings in the infotainment and the sound focus is set to the Centre of the car.
In spite of that, One day some friends sitting in the backseat complained that we can hear music louder from the front than from the back speakers.
Will ask the service folks to check this as well, and whether the sub-woofer is functioning normally as expected.

As of now, the horn pad issue still stands unresolved
Hope I'm not being given the customary VW service experience that everyone dreads, example being those ink marks on the center of the hood which I posted earlier on the forum

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

TBHP thread on FY23-24 Exports shows Virtus did 31,478 nos.

That's pretty good. Does anyone know if these are RHD or LHD models.

Also which country are these majorly exported to? Is it under same name?

Interestingly nothing mentioned for Slavia

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Dear TBHPians, Virtus GT DSG is gradually turning me into a rash driver. That crazy kick down and subsequent take off with engine grunt is intoxicating. Would love to hear from you to understand if it is impacting only me or others too.
