Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I was driving back to Bangalore from my hometown (Chikodi) yesterday and got a stone hit or something on windshield on the highway.

I was driving at around 100kmph when this happened. Didn't expect windshield to crack at this speed. Either it was not a small one or it was also travelling at some speed. It's not very noticeable, around 15cm in length. Is anyone aware of the front windshield price ?

Apart from that, it was a good peaceful drive until the chaos after Tumkur. I was constantly getting 18kmpl for the first 500kms of the journey before the traffic started and here are the final numbers.

Mine is a GT. Very happy with the performance as well as the fuel economy I'm getting with it.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

This will be my first post on the forum. I've been working on my Virtus GT MT for a few months now.
Have done a few upgrades on my car.
Now I'm looking to upgrade my exhaust system to make it sound a little more fruity and make it more expressive because I think the engine deserves to be heard.
I've asked around a few places for custom exhausts or after market ones but can't seem to trust the places.
I'm based out of Chandigarh, if anyone has details about good exhaust shops that can guide me further, please share details.
I'll be sharing all the details about my upgrades when I'm done with my car.

Enquired about the windshield here in Bangalore and the VW Mysore Road service centre quoted 11.7K including labour charges. I vaguely remember reading somewhere or hearing from someone that the front windshield costs between 8-9K. Are you sure the 18K bill didn't include any other work ?

Hopefully it should resolve soon and it should be some issue with the battery.

UPDATE - 12th Nov: Submitted the car to ASS over the weekend. It seems the issue is with my car's BCM & in all probability it needs to be replaced from VW under warranty. Fingers crossed. Can confirm by tomorrow regd the repair timelines.

Anyone faced such BCM issues in Virtus before? Model is 1.0AT (topline)

I'm not sure if anyone with the same specced car faces the issue.

Just a quick tip: When I drive alone, I shut all the other vents off, including the rear. The two main ones are pointed towards my face, and the right-hand side one is pointed towards the seat.

Hi. With this change to the manual controls for HVAC, I guess you can't get automatic climate control? I drive a Virtus GT plus 2024 and I find the touch screen difficult to use while driving. But, I find automatic climate control very useful. I was considering this change to manual controls, but if that takes away ACC, then maybe no.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun and Virtus to be recalled due to faulty welding.

A weld seam on the track control arm may have been missed during the production process.

Quote:
According to a listing on SIAM’s voluntary recall website, select units of the Skoda-Volkswagen India 2.0 cars – Kushaq, Slavia, Taigun and Virtus – are to be recalled due to a production process irregularity at the component supplier’s end.

Recall is due to welding fault in ‘track control arm’
52 models have been affected in total
A total of 52 vehicles are said to be affected which includes 38 units of Taigun and Virtus and 14 units of Kushaq and Slavia. The affected models were manufactured between November 29, 2023 and January 20, 2024. The recall was officially registered on October 28, 2024.

Skoda-Volkswagen, however, have not yet released an official statement regarding this.

I got the GT DSG variant recently. Although the brochure mentioned that this variant supports Volkswagen Connect, my dealer is not really sure. I'll follow up and let you know if I find something.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Any suggestion for the best possible sound output upgrade on the without-sub Virtus that does not affect warranty, please? I was used to the Tata Harman Kardon setup earlier and miss that punch.

Hi. I have a Aug 24 Virtus GT plus. It came with the Volkswagen Connect. It worked after dealer set the VIN at the backend. As far as I know, it is part of the vehicle cost and nothing extra needs to be paid for it.

Just look carefully in the driver's footwell area for a OBD dongle stuck by tape to the fuse box cover.
If it's there, you have VW connect, else not.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Checked out Virtus DSG and dealer mentioned they offer 360 degree camera.

Query to members, has anyone opted for this accessory? If I face any issue outside of my city will Volkswagen dishonour the warranty claim?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I am planning on upgrading my Virtus GT foglamps.
Going through the forum and doing more research I realised that it's mostly a plug n play thing.

As the stock foglamps are 35W each, does fitting a 50W led bulb makes sense in reflectors, Is there any chance that it might void the warranty on electricals.

The two good options I came across are Osram and Night eye LED's, any prior experience with those ?

I won't even mind going for 3500K LED light setup(will help in fog and rain) but somehow i don't see any options worth pursuing in it so looks like my only option is 4300K or 6000K LED's.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hey guys,
I am planning to buy Virtus GT line MT in Bangalore. I was unable to find any reviews online as this is a new varient. As this will be my first car I would like to get the forums help on tips, accesories or any insights before buying this car.

Dealer has quoted 17.2 lakh on road with basic accessories.
