Also can you tell me what air pressure you generally have and does ACT get activated during sedate driving? I keep 33-35 psi and want to know if this is too low or too high.
I'm sorry, I meant to also touch upon the tire pressure in my previous message, but it slipped my mind. I keep it at 35 PSI 90% of the time (which is in the city), and the odd occasion when one goes on long trips with a full house and a full boot, I raise it to 37.

I'm not sure if there's a perfect hack to get ACT to turn on, but from my experience, what I've found is that if you hit the sweet spot of 1500-2000 rpm and keep it at that range, you'll find the ACT gets activated more often than not. Check it out.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi all, been reading a lot of content here but first time asking a question, in celebration of my Virtus Topline AT 1.0 turning 1 today. Hoping for some great insights

Of late, I have been noticing some musty/ moldy smell whenever the AC switches on. It goes away after a while but is strong at the start. Anyone else faced this? What could be causing this and what can I do to fix this? Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Get the AC cabin pollen filter replaced, after a year it needs replacement.

Issue- Upon turning the steering fully on one side and reverse there is a constant clock ticking noise ( tick tick tick) . Faint but audible.
This is definitely the sound that was observed in Polo. You can see the complaints in the Polo thread.

Solution was to apply lubricant to the suspension components and the 'Tick Tick ' sound would just go away. Even I had got the same sound in both Polo and Virtus and the solution worked like charm.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Would installing aftermarket dual tone horns void my warranty? I saw that VW has OEM connecters so the installer would have to splice the wire before the connector to make the horns work. Hella Chrome Trumpets seem to be double the quality for half the price but not worth losing my warranty for.

Can't that be the sound of clockspring? It is a known issue for vw 2.0 cars.

Just spotted these permanent dots under the hood of my car. Not sure what the catalyst is, but I suspect it's the heat, and I'm paying the price for not getting any hood insulation.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Good morning everyone,

It's my first post post here on team bhp and I would like to inform that I am also a proud owner of a white Virtus GT DSG.

Took the delivery of the vehicle in August, I got a great deal from my local dealer up here in North. I had to bid adieu to my trusty diesel ciaz which was nearing it's faux end. (thanks Green tribunal)

The good bits so far:

* Drives like a dream with seamless gear changes. My Last ride being a manual, it is definitely night and day. The faster it goes over our glamorous roads(wink wink), the better the ride gets.
* Massive upgrade in terms of build quality from Ciaz. Thankfully no rattling noises yet. Cabin is pretty silent and with music switched ON you get cut off from the daily hustle bustle.
* Electric seats are great, changing seat position while driving is just so much more safe and convenient now. Bolstering is pretty good too.
* Headturner, I am always looking back to admire whenever I leave it in the parking lot.
• Infotainment system is pretty smooth, and the display is crisp and UI is pretty easy to understand.

The not so good bits now:

• I couldn't believe that the reverse camera is same as my 9 year old ciaz.
• No sunglass holder. Have to carry a case now to keep it in the glove box.
• High beam is just average, might be alright in darker conditions, but doesnt just light up the road like I hoped it would. I wish a separate high beam projector should have been provided instead of the forward turn signal light.

Went for the partial accessory kit, didn't opt for the rubber mat. Upgraded the horn a few days after delivery, 7D mat from the nearby accessory shop, boot mat from amazon and it definitely looks amazing.

Contemplating now to get active TPMS and a forward facing dashcam atleast.

Any suggestions would be appreciated on the above.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

I am unsure if this has been posted here before, but I went to the showroom, and they shared the cost for the newly launched Sports Edition for the GT Plus. It is Rs 30k more than the Manual and the DSG. And yes, it is available in all the colors.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Anyone seen the actual details of the new Highline plus variant? I’ve just received a call from my dealer upselling the new variant that is around 70k more expensive. Going by the details he mentioned over the phone, I’m struggling to understand what differentiates it from the Topline.

The features mentioned include Sunroof, digital instrument display, auto headlamps, auto dimming IRVM and rain sensing wipers.

And the kicker is that the variant I booked- Highline AT has allegedly no cars available at the plant currently and would thus need to wait another 2 or more weeks.(it’s been almost 2 weeks since I booked)

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Apologies for the quality, this is the list of changes in the highline trim as a consequence of the new variant.

When we upshift from 1 to 2 to 3, I hear a metal knocking noise exactly when I press the clutch and release the accelerator. Just a few clicks of it though.
Also noticed that this does not happen if I take my foot of the gas pedal a few milliseconds later after I press the clutch, when compared to my usual driving style.
Can you try switching gears post 2000 RPM and see if this noise still persists?

Hello, No, there is no noise if I shift post 2k rpm and also if I lift off the gas pedal a little later than pressing the clutch.

Leatherette seats with ventilation & leather trims on doorpads!
Probably lesser sized infotainment system.

I had noticed this in my Slavia 1.5 too and resolved it with the said approach. I think it is designed to be upshifhted at 2K RPM in these gears. Typically it kicks the turbo around 1700 rpm and when we attempt the shift in 1st and 2nd around these RPMs, it does not like it. This is purely my thought process though and I can be wrong. I hope shifting beyond 2k is not a problem given the class of machine you drive.
