I would forget that my car had paddle shifters - coming from a Polo GT that didn't have them. Bought a pair from Amazon, but they were terrible quality and finally didn't even fit the existing pedals, so I just returned them right away. Didn't bother with a picture as it wouldn't add any value. I did however find a really good website dedicated to this, here:

I plan to get these paddle shift extenders too. Do they work fine for you? Are there any issues?

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Hi All,

I have finalized Virtus Topline MT (steel Grey). Although the heart wanted the GT manual but mind and money went on with 1.0 variant.

I test drove both the variants (1.5 in DSG and 1.0 in manual) and honestly coming from a Baleno these both were significant upgrades for me in terms of ride quality and performance.

VW Virtus Topline (1.0, manual) vs GT Plus(1.5, manual)
Reason for me to go for 1.0 Topline-

- Price: The discounts offered in Topline variant were much more than offers on GT Plus which widened the ex-showroom price gap to much more.
FYI- Ex-showroom price of Topline- 14.89 Lakh & Ex-Showroom price of GT Plus- 17.89 Lakh.

But coming to on road price the price difference widened.

I got a final quote (on-road) of Rs. 18.60 Lakh for GT plus variant
and for topline I finalized for Rs. 15.60 Lakh.

So this proved to a much bigger price gap.

- Usage: I do not use car for daily commute for office and it will used mostly on weekends within city and frequent outstation trips either home or to mountains. My heart was going for GT only for the rush it provide during acceleration and engine sound. But that is just going to be once in a while event. I am pretty safe driver and love to cruise around only 100 kmph on highways(I know everyone is) which 1.0 is meeting perfectly keeping that fun to drive factor intact.

- Wife: Yes, believe it or not they are also a good factor to keep you in check with your spending. Although here the reason is 1.5 lit variant was pretty quick for her to drive comfortably so she wanted to go with the smaller one so it would be easier for her to drive too and use that saved 3 lakhs to road trips.

Now since the car is finalized I wanted some opinions from this experienced forum regarding some things-

1) PPF: Should I go for it. I was planning to go with matte ppf that really makes it a looker.

I enquired for the branded one(XPEL) but they are costing around 1,75,000/- in Gurgaon, which is a big no considering the price.
Then I enquired with the 2 of the major chains I came around, CarzSpa & The Detailing Mafia which provided their own brand named ppf which might be rebranded Chinese ones but since they are major chain so I might not be difficult to make claims in 5 year warranty.
They quoted me price of around 80-85k for matte ppf with 5 yr warranty and periodic maintenance for same. If I am to go for ppf I would like to choose between these two.
Can someone share their experience which one should I go for.

2) SVP- 4 years: I ma for sure taking the extended warranty (4+2) and SVP for 4 year for 25k also sounds good as it'll save the hassle on every visit and costs almost same. The question is I came around one opinion in this forum only is to do the first service of 15000 km by myself in 11th month of so and then buy the SVP for next 4 years, that'll be more value for money. Can someone shed more light on it.

3) Running the car Can I go for a road trip instantly after buying the car. It would be in short runs with sufficient breaks as follows-
- Leg 1- Gurgaon to Kota- 800 kms (after this 4 days break)
- Leg 2- Kota to Bhopal- 300 Kms (2 days break) (will do 1000 km checkup in Bhopal)
- Leg 3- Bhopal to Hyderabad - 1000 kms (roaming in and around 2 weeks)
- Leg 4- Hyderabad to Gurgaon - 1800 km (maybe in 2 days)

Any suggestion if I should go with this much distance in new car or not. What precautions to be taken.

Note- Although this whole trip depends if I get my car before 28th or might have to postpone to next month.

4) Any must have accessories or add-on I must take with car, Dashcam is on my list and planning to buy it in Big Billion Day sale next month.

Well okay, first off, advance congrats on the upcoming GT Plus or Topline! You will definitely not regret it!

To answer your questions, first.. Yes, you can go for road trips.. But for the first 1000KMs, you have a run-in period. During this run-in period, you gotta keep your car under 4000RPM. Other than that, I don't think there is anything else. After 1000KMs, you have the Swagath service which, as you said, you can get it done in Bhopal.

Second, dashcam is a must. If required, a phone holder but you won't need it cause you have Wireless Android Auto/ Apple Carplay. Oh, and also try to get a wireless charger. The wireless charger in the car is pretty slow and tends to fail most of the times! Other than that, you are good to go!!

Happy journey! Cheers

Yes it does. My 1.0 MT Virtus initially gave 8-10 kms to the litre but mileage improved as more kilometers racked up. At 7.5k odo now, it gives about 10 in bumper to bumper, 12 to 14 in moderate traffic, and about 18 to 20 on the highways.

Congratulations on your new car! The pictures are stunning.

What went wrong with the delivery experience?

I know it's fairly early; how's the mileage like?
Have you considered PPF/ceramic?

The 1.0 is a practical choice based on the requirements you’ve shared.

Coming down to some of your questions:
PPF - My suggestion would be to avoid PPF and use graphene or ceramic coating. There are a lot of helpful posts in this forum that can help. I got the graphene coating done from Esperto car care in Bangalore for about 28k and I’m quite happy with the results.

SVP - based on what I’ve heard so far, that’s a good investment. I did read a similar post about getting the svp after your first 15k service, but I don’t think it’s much of a difference anyway. Perhaps just wait for the festive season to see if VW offers any lucrative deals for SVP. In any case you won’t need it right away.

Accessories- It really depends on your personal preferences. I found the pharoah 3d mats quite useful. A dashcam is good as well since you mentioned long trips. Don’t count on the wireless charger as it’s practically useless. Get a nice charger that connects to your 12v socket.
The dealer should include the essential accessories package in your on road price. My suggestion would be to not skip it as some of the items are hard to source from boodmo/amazon etc. for example the mud flaps and the rear windscreen.

Overall it’s a great car! All the best.

Seems like an issue with his piece. I have driven through some heavy downpours and did not have a drop seep through. Some of the rainfall I experienced this year, was unlike anything I had seen previously, making it impossible to even see the road ahead despite the wipers working overtime to help me out.

I also got some opportunity to clean the car using a big pipe with a 1.5 HP motor plugged in directly (its a novelty for us living in apartments) and I was liberal in spraying the car until either I was tired/or very satisfied/ or someone dragged me away. Not a drop inside.

In any case, if water had to seep through, it would be mostly from door sills. Water coming from near the breaks could be catastophic since that would indicate water going near the motors/turbo, sitting just on the other side. The pic itself doesnt prove anything, since that amount of water accumulates on the mats even with wet shoes/slippers.

Thanks lckshmi!

Delivery experience:

While the dealer ensured timely delivery, the experience in the showroom was not pleasant. What I didn’t like was that the sales advisor was not forthcoming and honest, particularly about availability of certain parts and accessories. He had agreed to provide the sporty pedals but on the delivery day, he said those are not available. On probing further he tried to dodge by giving vague reasons. The car wasn’t really clean and the delivery was delayed by an hour despite calling and confirming the appointment. No accessories were available in the showroom so anything I wanted to add was only listed in the website but there were no products on display. The list of issues goes on. I will just say that it wasn’t the right experience.

Mileage has been good on the highways. Trips to Mysore and Krishnagiri were at about 15-17 kmpl when driven sedately (since it was still within the running in period). City mileage is about 8-10kmpl thanks to the infamous bumper to bumper traffic in Bangalore. I think getting double digits in city traffic will be a stretch.

PPF/Ceramic: After going through the posts in this forum as well as other resources, I decided to get the graphene coating done instead of PPF. The owner at Esperto Car Care was quite helpful and helped with the right product. I am quite happy with the results. I do need to be careful while washing the car (usually do a dry wash once a week or so using proklear).

I also got the pharoah 3d mats and they’re awesome! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for good quality mats.

On the accessories front, I did get a VW car cover and the rear windshield sunscreen in place of the sporty pedals from the dealer. That was an ordeal too!
Next, considering a dashcam but looking for one that doesn’t need to be hardwired.

Thanks. FE was in back of my mind when deciding between 1.0 & 1.5. Might go with 1.0 since it seems more practical for both city & highway runs.

Doesn't the VW car cover come in the accessories kit? If not, how much did you have to pay for that and the rear windshield sunscreen?

This is a genuine concern on few cars from earlier batches, I remember seeing below video showing the same thing. However, I have never faced such issues, have travelled to extreme rains in Vapi, Daman, Ahmedabad and Pune.

Yes the 1.0 MT should provide better mileage. Also it packs a punch and doesn’t feel underpowered at all. In a recent trip to Mysore, we had a fully loaded car but it cruised without a sweat. I opted for the 1.0 AT purely because I will be driving predominantly in city traffic with the occasional long distance trips.

I initially was planning to pick up the mats directly from 3dMats store but they were out of stock and asked me to check back after a month. I didn’t want to wait that long so looked around and picked up the mats from Car Shringar near Lal bagh. You can ask for Akshay. He was quite good to deal with and also offered a good discount for the mats.

The car cover and rear windshield sunscreen are not part of the standard/essential accessories kit but they are available for purchase at the dealership. They typically include the rear passenger window sunscreens in the standard kit. I also noticed different dealers had slight variations in what they included in the essential kit.
I didn’t have to pay for the car cover or the rear windshield sunscreen since these were taken against the sporty metal pedals that the dealership had initially promised but eventually did not give.

Re: Volkswagen Virtus Review

Here’s a picture of my 1.0 TSI highline manual. It’s been a fun 1.3 years of ownership. And a lot more fun with all the Virtus car meets going on all around. This car has certainly created a buzz around the country. I’ve never seen a single brand or single model sedan do such large meet-ups. A few mods have been planned for the future, but only on the aesthetic side. Such as lowering the car, adding a rear spoiler lip, woofer, etc.
never been disappointed with the so-called puny 1.0-liter engine. It packs enough muscle for triple-digit speeds on the expressway. Brilliant car, but the only downside is the lack of build quality for the interiors (in certain areas only) and the lack of features at this price point.

Hey Kishi,
Congratulations on your new car! I am in the market for a new car and confused between Virtus and Slavia. Could you please let me know the VW dealer from which you bought the car.
Moreover when did you get this much discount as it accounts to nearly 2 lakhs?
Thanks.

Hello,
I choose Virtus over Slavia purely due to in cabin feel of virtus. The integrated and seamless dashboard was a looker in Virtus and both me and my wife liked the interior of it compared to Slavia. Also Slavia was coming with 8" infotainment which was not looking that great.

Coming to getting good prices I would suggest to get in touch with multiple dealers in NCR and take some time as they will counter each other's offers a lot. They will say if you book right now or today itself then only this offer is applicable but just take your time and wait out.

In my case I approached Groupwe for the best offer but at the same time I was in touch with VW Faridabad and honestly he gave me great deals everytime and then Groupwe went on to match it.

The discount I got was around 50k in August. I also got the insurance on my own. 1.0 l models had better discounts. 1.5dsg had the lowest in NCR. The fact that I was getting lava blue in 2 days, I took it and am am very happy about it. I can’t confirm about any price hike though.
