Thats really good to hear. I will give it a try. I have tried in the past, but maybe the brake was not fully pressed. I generally apply the hand brake as well as I could not activate the hill hold on normal inclines.

Do you also own a Baleno Sigma by any chance?

I tried it and it worked, but it only works after a certain angle, which is unfortunate considering the ups and downs on Hyderabad roads. It's not very useful in city drives (at least for me), unless you are stuck on a flyover or hills. The Hyundai hill hold in Creta activates even on normal roads which are on a slight incline.

The good part is you don't need to press the full brakes to activate it, and it will keep on activating if you press the brakes again after 3 seconds.

Thank you again for your input.

Re: 2022 Maruti Baleno Review

Guys I want to know from owners whether the AC of Baleno is effective in summers or not? I'm reading lot of conflicting opinion regarding AC on net. Some are praising the cooling while some are criticising it. Can the owners please clarify and answer the question. Would really appreciate.

Thanks

The AC has been good in Hyderabad (even at 44 degrees Celsius). It's not as good as a Hyundai or a Mahindra for sure, but it does the job, and I own a Sigma, which doesn't have rear AC vents.

One thing I do is increase the blower speed and keep the temperature around 20-22 degrees when it's hot. Anything above that on a hot day, and rear passengers will complain. No complaints from the driver and front passenger side.

The best part is, even with the AC on in bumper-to-bumper traffic, it gives around 12 km/l mileage.

IMO, you can go for Baleno (or Fronx) if you are looking for a good, smooth, pocket friendly city ride.

Re: 2022 Maruti Baleno Review

Hi -I recently bought the Alpha AMT in Feb 2024. We went on a short trip to Ooty and unfortunately while returning, a deer jumped right into the right side of the car. Luckily no casualties, but I had to replace the driver and rear driver doors as they were heavily damaged.

Coming to the point, ever since I got the car back, I started noticing a sound that is coming from the gear shifts, specifically when it's shifting up and down in the first 3 gears. I do not recall if this was prevalent before as well. I took the car to service center, and was told this is operating sound and is common among AMTs. I wanted to understand from the group if this is actually true, and there is a sound which is clear to come from the auto gear shifts, as I do did not hear this in the multiple test drives.

Thanks and please let me know your inputs on the same.

An update for the infotainment was released recently. Cars currently having version 55TA.05.60 can now update it to 55TA.07.00. Link to download the update: https://www.global-infotainment-syst...ate/index.html

We had a Baleno 1.2 P from 2016-2023 for about 95000 kms, in Kanpur till 2019. AC was bone chiller, never had to top up gas, just timely replacement of AC filter. During summer AC was used in Auto mode all the time at 26.0 temperature.
Maruti is known to make flimsy cars but engine, transmission and air conditioner are one of the best, if not the best in our market.

Hi Visakh,
The warranty guy is just trying to make you a fool, even if the issue was on the last day of the warranty period they are supposed to replace the player FOC. Popular vehicles had replaced my AMT unit FOC even though it failed a week after my warranty period. All I did was send an email to Maruti explaining the situation and how my vehicle was properly serviced at an authorized SVC as per the scheduled.

So ask him to cut the bullshit and replace the audio system. I hope the issue was entered in a job card as your warranty has expired by now. Just shoot an email to Maruti with the name, designation and dealership details.

Re: 2022 Maruti Baleno Review

Hi. I drive an Alpha AMT purchased on March 2023 and have the same exact problem as you mentioned. I never had this problem for almost a year. But when I was reaching the 3rd free service point, I started noticing this tak tak sound when the gear changed from neutral to 1,2 and 3rd gear. Initially it was less audible but then started to get louder. I took the car to the two different NEXA service centers and the service advisor told me this is normal operational sound and is in acceptable limit. They also gave me a test drive on another customer's AMT car and it had the same issue while gear shifting but the sound was less audible. The sound is only audible upto 3rd gear. Guess this is an issue with the AMT gearbox and there is no solution for it. Pretty disappointing from Maruti Suzuki because the sound was not present in the new car. Just have to get used to it.

I own a Glanza 2022 model, basically a Baleno. I can sum it up for you as we also have a 2016 Swift in the household.

The AC of latest Glanza/Baleno is good and you won't find it inadequate or not cooling the cabin enough most of the times. In peak, hot temperatures that we face in Delhi NCR for a couple of months you might feel the cooling is about ok, which is my experience as well.

But it is not the same AC as previous generation 1.2L engine cars from Maruti Suzuki stable. While I was finalizing the purchase I had read about the AC performance on Team BHP and read about change of compressor make/capacity on the facelift of Baleno. The AC of previous generation Swift/Baleno was bone chiller as I witness sitting in both cars but it is not the same.

Hope it answers your query!

Thanks for your input. It's true that I did not recall this from the brand new car. It's actually quite frustrating that they have no resolution to this. I wonder if this is only a Maruti Suzuki issue or prevails amongst other OEMs as well. I have driven Grand i10 Neo AMT and don't hear this.

Re: 2022 Maruti Baleno Review

I think mailing Maruti Suzuki would be the only option because the NEXA service advisors keep saying this is normal. I can understand if the sound was coming for all the 5 gears. But here the sound is only audible till the 3rd gear. I don't think this issue is common among other brand AMT's. I feel like the sound generates from the drive shaft. It comes from the back of the car. But this sound was never there in the new car.

Viewing maps is the biggest problem at the moment. I still don't have a viable solution to this. I'll update when there is any changes.
I am facing similar issue on my Baleno Alpha. Have you got any solution for the issue form the SC?

Well I am facing the similar issue of ghost touch on my Baleno Alpha. The issue started just 2-3 days before my warranty was to expire and I was on a trip out of station with my family. So I was unable to get in touch with the SC. After returning from the trip I was able to visit the SC but by the time it was out warranty. Could you please elaborate how did you mange to get the warranty coverage after it was over. An on which channels did you contact MS regarding the issue?

Hi Raj,

A bit late update. After the warranty was rejected I did send an email to Maruti explaining my issue and my vehicle details, from there they ended up enquiring about the issue to the service center I went to and the issue was escalated and I got few calls telling me that the job card was not closed and they are still looking for a solution and they will try to fix this with the extended warranty even though it's not covered under it.

Long story short I got the infotainment system replaced with a new unit on August 3rd and it took a few visit to the service center to record the issue again and to do a few swap tests with the old unit and the one they ordered.

In the end I did felt like the warranty coordinator did try his best to find the solution to my issue and I don't have any hard feelings to them.

I was told that the new unit costs around ₹57,000 and the extended swap tests were needed because their TSM changed during my issue and to make sure that Maruti will accept the fault when they ship the old unit back to them and to reimburse the service center for the new unit they ordered.
