You are most welcome. Even mine is an iMT. Driving without indicator is quite ok... the only thing we might lose is a little mileage since the shift might not be ideal. I shift up or down based on the vehicle's response.

Re: Kia Carens Review

I visited Captial Kia at Perungudi, Chennai today to enquire about Carens X-Line 6 GDI. The sales man told me that X-Line production is stopped even though it is still displayed on the website. They wanted to sell only a luxury+ variant.

I want to know if this news is true or a typical sales gimmick.

It could be true and due to year end stock clearance. Try checking with a couple of other dealers and see if the narrative is consistent.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Has anyone installed an aftermarket 360 degree camera for Kia Carens? Does it void the warranty? The dealer quoted around 50k for this and I think that is expensive.

Will the dealer fitted 360 degree camera work with existing media unit in Carens?

Re: Kia Carens Review

I just completed 10K + kms in 1 year on my Luxury (O) 7DCT. I was going through this thread in brief to see what is happening and wanted to respond to couple of observations by our fellow members.

1. Yes, the 1.5 Turbo is slow to start - But, we can get used to it quickly by modulating the pedal. i.e., if we push too hard at start, and expect to jump, it won't - Just be soft of the pedal for a start and within a short second, it would reach the necessary RPM and then press it harder which will make the car gain momentum extremely fast. Actually it gains speed very well after that initial lag, which is manageable with the trick above.

2. Someone had mentioned that cruise control may not be that useful in our highways - I was also under the same impression before I started using it in Carens. It is extremely helpful as you set the speed on Cruise and once you brake and to regain speed, just press the refresh button on the right side steering control, it just gains speed and reaches the limit. It relieves so much of hard work for our right leg and just keep using the refresh as your "accelerator"

3. Even with the air purifier unit, the middle row space is very good and the air purifier works really well. My family of 4 adults with our Labrador dog have done 500" kms trips without any issues.

Actually a very good VFM car in today's standard with good fit and finish and quality materials used.

The Transmission Change Indicator no longer works post the upgrade; the upshift and downshift suggesting arrows were missing from the console. However, there were no other issues at all with respect to the performance or mileage of the vehicle. The current gear number is getting displayed as well.

Not sure how the Service centre guys missed it, but I noticed the issue the moment I took the car for a test drive after it was delivered to my home.

I reported it immediately and the service advisor requested to bring the vehicle, when possible. I took it the very next day. Then started their diagnostics and test drives. I thought they were going to simply update it again and get rid of the issue. But that was not the case since the update did not throw any errors in their diagnostic tools. I was there at the service centre for almost 2.5 hrs. At the end of it the Service manager came and apologised for the delay and confirmed that there was a bug in the ECM upgrade patch. The bug could not be found in any of their tools. After which they worked with KIA factory engineers, uploading the logs and it was found from the factory that there was a bug where in the guidance system (the upshift and downshift suggestion arrows) was not working.

At that time, only a small number of Kia Carens across India were impacted by this issue, as reported by the factory. I am still waiting for the updated patch to rectify this issue in my Carens. The last update from the service manager was that they are still waiting for the updated patch from factory and more vehicles are getting affected.

A few days ago, my brother-in-law had the same ECM upgrade done on his Carens, but he did not encounter this issue. I suspect I am the Lucky one

Yaaayyyy ... finally this issue is resolved. I got a call from the Service manager today to come and get the ECU updated with the new Patch. After the ECU update, did a test drive and confirmed that the Transmission Change Indicator is working fine now and MID is displaying the upshift and downshift arrows based on RPM.

A big thanks to Service Manager Mr. Durai Raj who followed up diligently and got it sorted. Came to know that this issue was first reported to Kia India from Perungudi Kia service center through my Car

Adding hood insulation.

Hello Everyone
Just thought this might help the people who are looking to add hood insulation to the bonnet.

Apparently, only Diesel Carens has it, my petrol top end, 6 seater, turbo DCT, 2023 model didn't have one.

Visited the dealer to confirm if diesel has it and it did.

Have attached part numbers.

Yes. I just spoke to them. They are quoting 43,500. The 360 degree camera will work with the existing media unit. I have checked at one shop locally and they are quoting 25k for 3d version and 32k for 5d version. the 5d version comes with a knob and we can view any of the camera at any time. The warranty would be valid for this too as no wires /cables are cut.

I did it through dealer Incheon Kia, they quoted 35000 with 20k discount if I took it through their festival package which includes chrome fittings, head rest, mats, idol etc. total 43k or so. This was during Feb. They might have some packages this time also. This also had a knob which we can scroll to view camera of our choice. Working good so far

Please share some snaps of 360-degree camera quality and the knob if possible.

I was looking at Carens DCT couple of months back and the dealer indicated they did not have any 360-degree camera available as an accessory.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Hi all,

I've noticed a common issue with the rear fender linings in my Kia Carens. They're made of a carpet-like material that sags significantly after a few thousand kilometers.

I've tried to get this fixed under warranty but had no luck. Seems like it's a widespread problem.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with their Carens? I was told that Kia was planning to switch to more durable PVC linings, but I haven't seen that happen yet.

I've attached some photos for reference.

This indicates another bad quality part used by Kia India, other than LED DRL that has been reported by lot of people. The dirt and grime will stick on other parts once the liner becomes loose.

Can you please share how much does it cost for replacement?
Is the replacement covered under warranty?
Is this part same as Rear wheel guard assembly?
