Yes. It is under accumulated info. After you start the car, press the pages symbol on the steering wheel and scroll through it. You will find 3 things - distance traveled since you started the car, distance traveled since last refueling and accumulated info. Press the Ok button to reset them. It took a while for me to figure this out as well.

We need to read it along with the fuel icon that is present above it. I take time to read the user manual after buying the car. If not, we will never read it again

Sorry for the late response. I think the problem is with Indian Oil XtraGreen. I filled up my BS6 Ecosport with that once, and soon after that I got a 'DPF Overloaded, drive to clean' message. A 70 km run on Hyderabad ORR got rid of that error. I've never filled that XtraGreen diesel again, and have had no DPF issues for the past 3 years, with 30k on the odo.

Interestingly, the manual that came with the car has a lot of content missing. It has only security and maintenance sections. Nothing else. I asked Kia Dealer and they are also clueless.

I browsed the PDF manual and i could not find this information on the bar. Let me re-read it . Thanks for the input.

Reg this particular topic, the way I am reading this is --
1) The gauge is "Live Fuel efficiency" -- keeps changing as per throttle input

2) The number above 1 above is the fuel efficiency of the trip or since the time the meter was reset etc depending on what screen you are on. Eg: If you have driven 10Kms and the digital number is showing 7.0, and you realise you want to increase fuel efficiency, you can choose to change a few things (eg lift n coast for engine braking, move to Eco mode etc) n u will see the "live fuel efficiency" go up and the digital gauge also would inch upwards slowly from 7.0 to 7.3 etc

Thanks

Vikram

Apart from the details shared by Vikram, I could find an image in the PDF manual which is not that self explanatory. Attached the screenshot. The bar gives you an indication of the fuel efficiency based on the current action you are taking like accelerating, braking, lift and coast.

Also, can you please @Venkatesh C share underbody photos of the front wheels? I just wanted to know whether the oxidation of the front wheels that I have noticed is ame across all Carens or is specific to my car. It will display your current fuel efficiency, and after driving 10-15 kilometers, it will also show a bar indicating your average fuel efficiency.

Re: Kia Carens Review

My hunt for a new set of wheels just started on a bad note....went to Tapaasi Kia and was informed that the IMT diesel will henceforth only be available on top end trim (the sales rep says this decision was made about a month ago)....I can't understand Kias logic on this but it probably means that the Carens is out for me as the OTR is well over 23 lakhs in Bengaluru....

Re: Kia Carens Review

My Carens is 2.5 years / 32K Kms old. While the vehicle is a perfect family vehicle, the list of issues just keeps increasing. For starters, my car has all the common issues - condensation, ghost touches/touch screen non-responsive (8-inch one, mine is Prestige Plus) and clicking noise from the steering while taking turns with indicators on. As usual, the ASC brushed all these aside as "normal". After running around 2 different ASCs for answers, I decided to make peace and live with it.

Just when I thought my ownership experience can't get any worse, the CV joint boot on the front left wheel developed a leak. I have no idea when this developed. I usually park my vehicle with the wheels straight. However, recently, I happened to park with the wheel fully turned to the left when I stopped for a tea break. Upon returning, I decided to take a look at the wear on the tyres and then noticed a leak on the CV boot - right on the clamp. There was grease deposited on the control arm. The nearest Kia service centre was 40 Km away and I had to take a detour to reach it, which I did. They inspected the vehicle and mentioned that I could drive back home, but recommended that I get it checked at my regular ASC as soon as I reach home. The clamp was fine, they mentioned that the boot developed cracks. I reached home that evening and dropped off the vehicle at my regular ASC for repairs. Now starts the fun part. I dropped off the vehicle on 01-Oct first thing in the morning. It's been 3 days and there is complete radio silence from the ASC. The SA does not pick the call. If I ask for an update in the group, he simply responds that the repairs are ongoing. No photos, nothing.

The thing is cars are mechanical objects and things can go wrong. I am completely fine with that. However, Kia's after sales is concerning. Don't get me wrong, regular service is perfectly fine (barring new scratches every time my vehicle visits the ASC). However, the moment we mention issues, they search for the silliest reason to brush it off. This is the first time I gave the vehicle for an actual repair and 3 days (and counting) to repair a leaky CV joint is concerning. I plan to drop by at the ASC unannounced tomorrow morning and if I find my vehicle collecting dust at a corner, I will give them hell for sure.

On the contrary, my dad's Hyundai had a minor issue recently. He was in and out of the ASC in under 3 hours. Well, I won't sell my car off anytime soon. However, if the same service experience continues, this might be the last Kia for me.

I guess that happens with all cars? The gears click for the self cancelling function. It is present in all the cars I've owned. Some more pronounced than others, but it is present.

Regarding the ASC, if it is not too far from your place, CAR KIA in Gachibowli has been amazing in terms of communication, and I'd suggest you try that branch.

True, but mine is at a stage where the passengers started noticing the sound. It gets extremely annoying - especially when taking U-turns.

Is this the Q-city branch you are referring to? If so, my car is with them as we speak. My experience with them has been sub-par so far. Parking is cramped and my car returns with new scratches every time it goes in there. While they do a decent job with general service, they hardly pay heed to any complaints. When I complained about the clicking noise, I was asked to record and send them a video. I posted the video in the WhatsApp group as they have requested and the very next minute, the SA left the group. I think I will shift back to Malik Kia (previously Vihaan Kia), even if it means I have to waste a day travelling that far.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Bought the Prestige Plus Diesel manual in April 2022, its ~95k kms old. Got the engine light on recently, no problem in running though, took it to the service centre. SA put in the scanner on the OBD port and his face gave a look that he's seen this error before. Asked him what's wrong, replied that they need to keep the car for further diagnosis. Next day they call and tell DPF needs to be replaced, will take 2 days as they need to run the car for 100 kms after replacing it. No concrete answer as to why it happened and how can it be prevented in the future. Part cost is ~Rs 50k, replaced under warranty.

Would be great if anyone could shed light on this DPF issue - cause and prevention?

So in a less than 3 year old car with high running, got 2 headlamp replacements (DRL yellowing issue), AC compressor replacement and now this DPF replacement. Not sure if I got a defective piece or these "new age" cars run this much only niggle free.

Have never had anything replaced in any of the previous cars that I've owned including Honda City, Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, Tata Indica, Maruti Zen. All of these have run 1 lac kms+, some even 1.5 lac kms+.

Just putting out this information for the benefit of everyone here. Not criticizing the company or the car, it's a great car for the price point.

I happened to notice the new dials. Initially, I thought this was exclusive to the X-Line, but your screenshot shows the Luxury+ variant also has this. Is this a new design across all variants ?

I had only seen this simple digital meter in the tbhp reviews as well as in the Youtube reviews. When did this change ?

Update: I did drop by the ASC. As expected, the vehicle was collecting dust. I told them that I had to travel the next day and needed the vehicle. The vehicle was returned that evening (on day 4). I was happy to get my vehicle back and did not check what they did. They told me that it was a minor problem and was resolved. I drove 500 Km the next day. This morning, I checked if the leak was contained and this is how they fixed it.

Kia Carens Review-20241006_093831.jpg

To no one's surprise. there were grease deposits. Took the vehicle to the local ASC (different city) and the first thing the technican asked me was if I got it repaired from a road side mechanic

When I informed him that this "repair" or rather jugaad was done by a Kia ASC, he asked if they handed over the vehicle stating that this was a temporary fix and if a replacement boot was ordered. When I responded in the negative, the SA and the technician went through the vehicle records and found no mention of this. The previous ASC labelled this "general check-up" and closed the issue. As things stand now, the jugaad is still in place. A replacement was ordered and it might take 10 days to 2 weeks to get parts. Hopefully, this should solve the issue once and for all.
