Re: Kia Carens Review

I own a Prestige Plus Diesel Manual and I recently did a long Road Trip in it. This is the link to the travelogue. Some points might be of interest to fellow Carens owners.

Today, while driving, I received a random error message, though I didn't notice any changes in the vehicle's performance. My car has covered 62,000 kilometers, and it was just serviced about 10-12 days ago. Additionally, I've noticed that the DRLs on my Carens have turned yellow at the front.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Hello,
Are there any Carens group in Pune?
We can plan Team-BHP meet in near future.

Well, it is difficult to answer this question without some context. If you are upgrading to a new vehicle because you badly need a 6/7-seater for family needs, I will leave the decision to you. However, if you are upgrading because your current vehicle is showing its age, but is mechanically sound, I suggest holding on to it until the facelift launches. Since you seem to hold on to your vehicles for a long time, I suggest you wait for the facelift provided you have no urgent need for a new car. The wait should be worth it. If you do not like what you see when the facelift launches, you can get the old one with fat discount. While the Carens does not have major issues per se, I expect Kia to iron out niggles such as condensation on roof, etc.

Thanks for the inputs. My car started showing signs of aging and the new car itch became too much to control. Have gone ahead and booked then Carens Prestige Plus O variant. Initially I did wanted to wait, however could not

Re: Kia Carens Review

I have got Carens Prestige Plus O DCT car on 31-August and I went for a short trip over the weekend. The car is great for highways and is not short on power. The display mileage showed 18km/ltr after I travelled for more than 200 kms. I used cruise mode and eco mode for sometime and maintained speed around 90kmph. On the return journey I used normal mode and was touching 100kmph sometimes. Mileage turned out around 15-16. The car is comfortable and this will tempt me to take the highways more often .

Today, I went to 3M car care to get under chassis coating and noticed that the front brake area rusted. Attaching the photos below.

Wanted to check with this forum on whether this is covered under warranty? Should I reach out to the Service guys right away or should I bring this up when I go for the 1st service? Any insights would be of great help.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Respected Members,

Brief:
I have been driving Kia Carens 1.4 Turbo Manual for around 2.5 years but recently while driving Carens in 2nd gear - speed 25-30 kmpl, I tried to stop the car by hitting the brakes.

Problem:
But brake pedal got hard like stone and I repeatedly kept pressing but the brake pedal didn’t bulge from its position, it was rock solid and after about 5-10 sec. when I release the brake and again pressed it (now first clutch),brake finally got engaged and car came to halt. Luckily no accident, as the car was in slow speed. but what would have happened, if car was in high speed?, cannot imagine.

Raised issue with the Kia on call and appointment was schedule with workshop, upon visiting Kia Workshop on appointed date and describing the problem, they took a test drive but the problem did not surface in test drive.

Has anybody faced this type of problem associated with brake in Kia Carens?.

Requesting your guidance in this matter and what solution do I have and how to raise my concern with Kia, as problem had not surface in test drive.

Waiting for your valuable Feedback.

Re: Kia Carens Review

The DRLs on my Carens started turning yellow, so I decided to have them replaced under warranty.

I have to mention that the headlights are quite expensive, especially considering their meager throw. The cost of both the headlamps is close to INR 80K.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Damn, 80k for headlights! Makes investing in the extending warranty seem worth it.

If I may ask, how yellow did they get? Mine have started getting yellow near the inside half. And was it difficult to convince the SA for the warranty replacement?

I opted for the most comprehensive warranty available, which covers 5 years/Unlimited kilometres.

A similar issue occurred, where only the inside part was losing color while the outer part remained blue, but getting the replacement wasn’t too difficult. They admitted that this problem is common in most Carens. However, earlier, replacing the rear stabilizer arm was a challenge. They initially refused to acknowledge the issue and suggested I either claim it through insurance or pay out of pocket. After I made it clear that I would escalate the matter, they replaced it once they had it in stock.

The circled part was bent, giving it the appearance of having a positive camber.

Re: Kia Carens Review

Forgive me if it has been asked and answered. I'm unable to figure out what the flat gauge in the dashboard is for. It has markings from 0 to 30.

I did try searching the internet with the image and using terms like flat gauge in kia carens etc., no luck. The manual also does not say anything about it in the dashboard section or the driving the vehicle section.

Appreciate any insights.

Live fuel efficiency. Try doing "lift and coast" and it will cross 20, try accelerating, it will be lower

Is there a trip meter hidden somewhere in Carens?

Re: Kia Carens Review

Thank you @vikramv4u . Much appreciated. It was quite literally driving me nuts to figure out what it was. I wish they had printed kmpl somewhere. It would have helped. Any measure without a unit is bound to confuse.
