Beware of keeping car in low running - it will spoil the engine, battery & electricals. Such cars atleast requires 5 KMs on alternate days - daily will be much better. Avoid long standing periods with no ignition at all costs - it will ruin mechanicals as well. Also, it will become sweet spot for rodents & likes.

Does Skoda run some campaigns occasionally or is it best done along with new car purchase.
Hi, anyone who recently purchased with 5th year warranty and 2years smp managed to get it extended?

When I checked, the SA told it's not possible to add just the 6th year, as the extension comes in 2 year package only. Similarly for service, it's possible only to add after the current one expires and even if extended, it won't cover the full service requirement of the fourth year.

Thank you for the advice. Yes. I will do the regular running. My running could be monthly 300-400 KM.

I have another query here. Is it advisable to do the PPF or Ceramic quote on the Moon White color of the car. Although the dealer did not suggest, but when asked, he suggested to go for Ceramic than the PPF. What could be the cost of the Ceramic quote with 3 years warranty.

And are the glasses on Kodiaq sufficiently stop the external heat from sun light? Do I need to put transparent but heat reducing film on the glass. I have it on my Honda city and it helped.

The glasses have no heat reduction film/tint. I got 3M CR70 done on all windows except windshield and sunroof. There is a marked difference - my Hyd-Del-Hyd trip in May/June was comfortable.

Without the tints, March/April Hyderabad heat was getting uncomfortable.

I don't suggest PPF or ceramic coating. What I do is Teflon coating every 6 months. That is keeping it shining for so long. 3M films are pretty good - can go for them.

Re: 2022 Skoda Kodiaq Facelift Review | 2.0L Petrol DSG

Congratulation on the new car. I have also decided to get the Kodiaq as I don’t like the upcoming design and expect it to be more expensive. Love Jozef Kabaň’s work on this one.

I wanted a Magic Black one and luckily one guy who booked under last month’s offer didn’t pick up the car. It’s a MY24 model and December 2023 manufacturing but arrived at the dealership in August ‘24. Completed the purchase and now waiting to get the registration done and I will go to Guwahati on the coming Sunday to pick her up (I’m from Dibrugarh).

Dealer tried to transfer the 2.5L + 2 year SMP + 5th year extended warranty to me which was under the original booking but ŠKODA declined it so he gave a 1.6L discount which I took and I didn’t want to negotiate longer as other dealers all across were not taking booking for Magic Black anymore with no availability in the Aurangabad plant as well so didn’t want to risk losing this last Black piece. I also ordered Michelin Primacy SUV+ 235/60 R18s and will get rid of the MRFs at the dealership itself Here is a picture of the Kodiaq in the dealer’s stockyard.

Congratulations on your purchase. It is very unfortunate that the discount which was available last month, Skoda is not passing it to the new customers. That is my only sore point in my purchase decision. You are lucky to get the Black color. What price was quoted to you for Michelin upgrade.

I am getting the tyres from M. D. Tradelinks, Calcutta @ 16,400/- per piece. Now I need to find someone to hang these MRFs on. Dealer is only offering me 4000/- per piece and no other tyre shop in Guwahati is willing to take them.

May I ask the reason you considered changing the tyres? I've got the MRF on mine and I couldn't find the need to change. I drive sedately mostly on highways.

Also, did you consider PPF or ceramic coating?

When I drove the Kodiaq and compared it to the Audi Q5; I was really impressed with the noise insulation and ride quality which was on par with the Q5. Of course the Q5 has a much higher state of tune and the DSG also is much faster but other things I found the Kodiaq equally as good and it even has more space and ventilated seats.

The only part I found lacking was road insulation which was I’d say ~70% as good which I put it down to the tyres. I’m sure the Michelins will be much better and the Primacy SUV+ was only available in 235/60. A couple of people on this forum have upgraded their Kodiaq to 60 profile and found it to be a good upgrade with better ride quality and stance of the car.

And no I have not considered PPF or ceramic coating since I feel VAG paint quality as it is keeps very well. My 11 year old Jetta only had 3 Teflon coatings done and even now after a wash she shines like new

That is correct, my friend also checked for his Virtus, VW told it cannot be bought for a single year. Just before the 5th year warranty is expiring, a 1 year warranty coverage can be bought. This would be same for Skoda as well.

We got graphene coating (above ceramic) done from Turtle wax this year on my friend's Kodiaq. It costed 32k with 3 year warranty (1 free top coat each year included).

Also I missed out on this point; the Q5 dynamically felt tighter and more close knit to drive. It’s a newer more evolved platform so it handles better. Not that the Kodiaq is bad but the Q5 is as good/better in comfort as the Kodiaq is in Sport handling wise.

My drive is mostly on highways & expressways, it's been 40K KMs & Markus are serving me quite well. I am highly satisfied by their on-road performance, vehicle handling during 100+ speeds & they still have quite a life left. Don't know if I will shift to Michelin.

Congrats on the acquisition. Black Kodiaqs are rare and look the best. What's not best is the decision to switch to higher profile tyres right at the showroom, you should know that the dealership / Skoda will wash their hands very easily if there's some issues with suspension related components, citing not only non-OEM tyres but also upsized. If you so wish to change the tyres, do so after a year, new MRFs are also pretty quiet on the road. I started noticing noise around 15-20K kms. As such you're getting very little resale for the tyres, might as well make some use. Pirelli Scorpion Verde, is a good, grippy, quiet tyre which I recently changed to at 45K kms. I have seen the Primacy SUV+ and almost bought them but when I arrived at the shop and saw them in person, I did not like the profile design of the tyre, the side wall protrudes a lot. Hence went for next best, the Pirellis.

You're right. Up to 40K, these tyres perform well. But wait till you get a puncture, right about in next 1000-2000 kms, and then all tyres will start getting punctures and you'll be picking up a new set pretty soon. When I switched, my MRFs had plenty of life left still, no loss in grip, etc. The only grouse was, getting frequent punctures, (not because of monsoon - this happened sometime in early June) and terrible road noise even on smoothest of tarmac.
