Re: Force Gurkha Review

Saw a video on YouTube where a Gurkha met with an accident at Sandakphu, cause of accident- steering failure. The last part of the video mentions about the crash, further details will be available in his next video. The owner claims, the vehicle flipped 3 times and the vehicle has been declared as total loss.

The vlogger says that the lower arm was getting hit. This might be because of IFS and rack & pinion steering that even Thars too come with. Even then, steering components don't give up without adequate warning - noises, feel, etc.

Maybe the lower arm was badly damaged, and the vlogger didn't realise how dangerously close it was to giving up. Let's see what he posts in the next video.

This YouTube engineer had removed the Front skid plate because it was 'useless' ! The blame now must be taken by the Indian automotive industry as a whole. Good content for that channel nevertheless.

Seems I would have to reconsider owning the new BS6 Gurkha which I was planning for this year. It also now seems that waiting for the Jimny should be worthy.

What a struggle in choosing between the limited(nil) options of vehicles available in India with proper 4x4 !

Durability, Reliability or Driver-ability, where does the failure lies !!

Re: Force Gurkha Review

The cat is out of the bag, and is being spotted testing:

  • Looks like there's upgrades on the steering wheel.
  • Also the FM2.6CR badge was also covered.
  • So was the Force and Gurkha badging.
  • The increased track width looks magnificent. Enhances the overall package.
Beautiful 1BHK on wheels ♥️.

Looks like a Hummer when viewed from side. If they can plonk an AT into this it would be great.

I do believe Force Motors is trying to incorporate steering mount controls. I wish they could plonk in the 2.2, but i do believe FM is planning to put in the same engine from the traveller to take care of the additional weight.
Those rims look awesome, looks anyday better than the alloys.

Re: Force Gurkha Review

Test mule of 5 door Gurkha have been spotted again. The headlight is very much different from the 3 door version & more similar to Trax(unless they are masking it by using Trax headlamp).

Re: Force Gurkha Review

Looks swell with those offset wheels. Wonder if they will make it to the production model. If not the offset, atleast the wheel design should! OTOH seriously hope that face doesn’t make it to the production model!

Re: Force Gurkha Review

Off-late most YouTube channels are having a field time, showcasing ownership reviews of the Gurkha, I really like this approach as against the regular reviews in which there isn't enough time spent with the vehicle to really understand its pros, cons, usability, practicality and lastly the company support or issues faced.
And judging by the number of views, seems like the junta loves it too.

Asterix stars in this one...!

Sad to know this turned out to be a Total Loss. I think the blogger did a mistake by engaging the local folks for recovery. This 2 Ton+ Monster is much much heavier than the Vintage Land Rovers. In these situation we all look for quick recovery and engage the nearest available help. Ideal would have been to try calling Crane services and if it was not coming then try the local help.
But looking at the loss I don't understand why this cannot be salvaged? Body shell isn't badly damaged. Suspension change will be 2 Lakhs at the max. Maybe it's not clearly coming out or I missed some finer details.

Re: Force Gurkha Review

I liked the 5 door version over the 3 door. For its size, it looks very proportionate except the headlight fascia which is so much relating to the bigger Trax cousin or the bygone days of Tata Sumo I hope Force redesigns the front to its 3-door version atleast.

Loved those steel wheels on this test mule with fat wider tires. Complements the overall styling! Hope it makes it to the production variant as well.
