Thanks mate. I test drove Safari twice and I think Safari’s low speed ride is infact worse than XUV700.

One place where XUV700 might shine even better is the AX5 variant as that comes with 17inch wheel and larger side walls. But lack of cruise control and telescopic steering features makes it a deal breaker for me.

I second this. Yes the low speed ride is very firm. I drive an AT Diesel and till the third gear engages the ride is not enjoyable. I kind of feel if the engine is struggling. But the shifting dynamics changes quickly in the Zoom mode. I mostly use Zap mode in my city drives and change to Zip mode when the traffic snarls.

Out on the highway its a beast in the Zap and a monster in the Zoom mode. If you want to enjoy the drive, take her out on the highway.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I have had my XUV700 AX7L P AT for few weeks now but since the first day, the front suspensions have made this audibly loud THUD sound when going over small and hard bumps. This doesn't happen as much over bigger and less steeper bumps. This issue also seems to be more prominent at slower/crawling speeds.

Also when initially starting the car and letting of EPB there is sudden jerk and fast acceleration. This is happening only at start up when car has been parked for a while. Is this normal with EPB cars as I am new to this system?

For the first case the dealership is saying the suspension sound is normal and asked to bring during first 1K service to get it looked at without confirming any further details as to the reason and solution for the issue. This seems to be case as highlighted by Ram87 earlier, has anyone else faced and resolved this issue.

Please advice how to go about raising this issue with the company or are all dealers capable of acknowledging and fixing this issue during first service?

Currently I have only done 500Km so far and loved every minute of it. Kudos to Mahindra for such a brilliant product, the bar has really been raised and its a win win for all consumers.

First service is just checking the lubricant levels, software update and wash (In my case i am not sure if they washed the vehicle as I did not feel any difference). Still felt Mahindra was better than Maruti. Martuti service centers charges close to Rs 1000 for consumables only during the 1st service.
Where did you leave the vehicle? I left mine at AMPL and they charged me 393 Rs and i raised the same issue with their customer care.

AMPL Guindy. Reasonable customer service. I am a first time user of Mahindra so didn’t expect anything great from them.

Congratulations and wish many happy miles, mate!!!

A quick update from my side, after missing out five CPD's by Mahindra, I have been informed yesterday that the car has been allotted and should get it by mid March. I had been following up on daily basis post the last CPD change.

Also received the latest Accesories details from the dealer. There are some changes in the accessories this month. I have attached it here.

Owners of XUV 700,

How are you managing light in boot space? It is extremely dark if you have to open it during night drive or parking where there is no light. Some one added any light from dealer or DIY?

I have put up 4 led strips using 12v socket in back which can be found on Amazon for around Rs. 300 and this seems to be a good option suiting my needs for now. It also works as ambient light for the trunk but I don't expect it to last for more than a few months.

You could also use 12v usb adaptor and find some usb led light options on Amazon.

I will definitely explore it once i get my vehicle
I too am exploring the available after market options. I came accross this vendor named Ajanta enterprises they are Mumbai based and are manufacturers of Roof racks, Roof luggage carriers and Roof boxes. They have installed it on new Tata Safari and MG Glister.

The only concern I have is, the roof rails on xuv700 are not load bearing and only cosmetic.

Also installation of it may invite void of warranty and affect leakage seepage from sunroof.

Experts of forum do advise.

Roof carrier Roof box for Xuv 700 with panaromic sunroof.

One of the biggest flaw with the xuv 700 or you may call its Achilles heel is the lack of boot space.
Though the car is a 7 seater on paper with all rows up there is almost no boot space. Which means it's a 5 seater for long drives and holidays.

Since we are a family of 6 and we often go for longer holidays would love to have a roof carrier.

I explored the option and found Ajanta Enterprises in Mumbai who seem to have installed many such roof carriers on MG Gloster, Tata Safari and they have been installing on xuv500 with sunroof models.

My concern is the roof rails on my xuv700 are just cosmetic and non functional. Then will installation of such roof carrier void the warranty on the car? Can such a installation lead to seepage from sunroof in longer run?

Experts please advise!

I too faced the same problem, and had asked the same q earlier in the thread.

I have placed an order for the following product: https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B09...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Though there's the 12V cigarette lighter outlet in the trunk, I didn't want to reserve it for the trunk roof light. So, opted for a battery-based light which I can quickly change if/when needed.

I plan to check if this particular product is ok for both the vanity mirror (might be too bright on the eyes or too thick, rendering it unusable) and also for the rear trunk roof. Will post back once I receive it and use it.

Roof racks or boxes should never be installed in a car whose roof rails are cosmetic. Box + luggage is a good 70-100kgs. Imagine all that weight above, moving around, on improper/insecure foundations. There is a reason the company explicitly states the roof rails are not load bearing. That should be respected.

Also, do note that cops create issues for private vehicles with roof racks in some states. This is a problem especially here up north.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Just read about an XUV 700 accident with a truck (rear ending). Seems like the truck applied brakes and 700 driver could not react in time.

Good to know that passengers were alright. We surely are improving on the safety front in four wheelers. I wish we could improvise in driving etiquettes too

Article does say anything about the variant but if it happens to be the one equipped with ADAS, it puts big question mark on the usefulness of this feature when it actually matters.

I wonder if there are short carrier frames which don't' overlap on the sunroof area and just sit at the rear end. Since it is going to be a small carrier, limitation of the cosmetic' roof-rails may not matter much.

ADAS works great, and saves lives in exactly these sort of situations. While the system may not work great on Indian roads, where you would get these nuisance steering vibrations, warning chimes every time a two wheeler or a four wheeler cuts in to your lane, it works great in certain cases. I have it turned off during my city runs, but had it on my recent highway run and it worked great. I had my initial reservations on the system during my first highway run, where in the night , speeding BMW/Audis cut in to my lane and slowed in front of me and the system applied sudden brakes, flung the second row passengers forward. I turned it off for the rest of the journey. As a matter of fact, I would have reacted a little more rationally and applied a softer brake pressure. But then this is not AI we are taking about. In fact during my last highway run, an overtaking vehicle in front me braked hard and if not for the ADAS, I definitely would have crashed in to them.

And so I have begun to trust the ADAS more and more with each passing day, at least the ADAS in XUV700.
