Mahindra XUV700 Review
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official-new-car-reviews/240680-mahindra-xuv700-review-764.html)
These photos are of a car that was placed inside the showroom. My car had wider gap on one side. The SA didn’t have any solution when he figured this is a problem with all the cars in the lot.

The screenshots you shared have almost similar gap as the one that is allocated to me.
Is the first screenshot from your car and did you finally the car with the larger gap?
Did the showroom provide any solution for fixing the gap?
Have you noticed any issues due to rainwater in this gap? |
The mahindra team came yesterday, on the 13th day, to test the battery. Hydrometer showed all cells in deep red and my battery tester showed 0% battery available with resting voltage of 11.8V. Another 5-7 days and even the doors won't open, just like I had predicted.
Hopefully post this 2 week long investigation where the Mahindra CRM is also involved the dealership can't claim the car is ok and there are no faults. Mahindra CRM also told me they will replace my battery with a 90AH battery as mentioned in the manual ( my car has 70AH amaron battery which was installed by the dealership in Jan 2025 )

If they replace the battery, make sure it is really 90AH and not a 80AH one stickered over with 90.
Good Luck!

Hey Folks, has anyone done an upgrade to the AX7L audio system like door damping, door speaker upgrade ? want to know what's the feedback and improvement seen. I am thinking of damping but happy with speakers as such but wouldnt mind if sound gets better |
I got damping done from Sireesh Silk Board for all doors and bonnet.
Got it done for mine and my brothers 7oo’s. There is very minimal difference with respect to ambient noise, but reduction in engine noise is noticeable.
Thicker damping sheet gives better results.

This is a major concern. I noticed that my battery model no was 95D26L. The mahindra technician told me it means the battery is 95AH. I googled the model no and amaron site says the battery is 70AH. I don't understand why amaron doesn't use the correct nomenclature and why even so called trained technicians aren't aware of the actual battery size.
The only reason I checked the battery size and model no is because of the posts on tbhp where users claimed they got batteries with lower capacity with a sticker pasted over. This is downright fraudulent if you think about it. We trust OEM dealerships and if the car manual says 90AH then they should use a 90AH battery instead of a 23% smaller battery, especially when the complaint is about quick discharge of the battery

How about improvement in sound quality from door speakers? did it help?
Update on the battery issue : 16th day today. 11.5V without any load and 11.2V with just the radio on. Engine is starting because it's a brand new battery so able to supply the CCA needed. Another week and I am 90% sure the car won't start
Mahindra dealer claimed upto 6 weeks there shouldn't be any such deep discharge issues and the car will start while in my case the battery is already deep discharged in only 2 weeks
Update on the battery - 17th day today and car didn't start. I tried 2-3 times and now completely dead. Even the infotainment not starting now
Let's see what Mahindra does. I have asked them to replace the battery with 90AH capacity instead of the current 70AH as well as disconnect the scuff plates ( the only accessory installed in the car - mahindra original and installed by dealer at time of delivery ). I have also asked them to diagnose battery drain properly.
Waiting for dealer to pickup the car now

I am not an expert but I remember folks mentioning not to dampen the bonnet because the sheet used for dampening is inflammable and bonnet is very very hot. So do check with someone who is an expert. ASCs will do anything for the money !!!

I have done the full send - doors damped and all speakers replaced. Initially, I was very unhappy with the way the speakers sounded - clarity was good but the Sony 12 speaker system lacked the bass. I initially went for just doors damping and adding an underseat subwoofer. But due to the weird amplification by stock system, the output was very subpar.
I then proceeded to (once in my life) get a full audio upgrade done. Only my doors are damped and I left out the floorboard, boot and bonnet areas. With little music on, outside noises have come down by a huge lot. Engine sound does filter through though but a little more volume to the infotainment and it also becomes a non-issue.
IMHO, getting just the door speakers upgraded won't make a huge difference but it all depends on what you want to achieve. For me, the system is just perfect now with the clarity and deep bass that I wanted. But if your idea is to just get a quieter cabin, you can start with damping just the doors first.

My primary intent of damping would be improved audio quality and also some more cabin insulation in the process.
I also have an underseat sub from my previous car which I wanted to install since bass on front rows seem less compared to 2nd row. Just to make sure I get your point, did you feel a difference with door speakers changed or it did? Which speakers were installed on the doors?
Hello Fellow BHPians
I was a happy owner of 1st Gen, 3.5 yrs old Hyundai Alcazar with nearly 70k+ kms clocked. Went with call of heart and booked ROXX AX7L 4WD D AT, intended to be used as my prime mover. I drive approx 2 to 3000 kms per month in a mix of good to severely bad country roads. I also thought of giving Alcazar to my wife to be used as a mostly chauffeur driven car in city traffic.
Unfortunately my plan went kaput as Alcazar got totalled into a serious accident trying to save a drunk e rickshaw. Which left me hunting for a new 7 str diesel car.
My requirements strictly mandate a 7 str diesel AT. After due consideration, zeroed down on XUV700 AXL FWD. AS the car is expected to arrive within a week, the overthinker in me got awakened. Some questions that I am pondering on right now are as follows-
1. Is is wise to have both of horses from same stable?
2. Is XUV700 finally niggle free? The posts on this thread give a mixed vibe about this.
3. Is any of these a good city commuter? If yes then which one?
All advises are wholeheartedly welcome.

There definitely is an improvement after the door speaker change. I have got a JL Audio setup for all 4 doors with an Audison subwoofer. Also got DSP and Amps to tune the music to my liking.
Update on the battery issue - Dealer couldn't find any battery drain. On asking why the battery died in 2 weeks when they had said battery won't deep discharge for 5-6 weeks they had no answer. Thankfully, I have no accessories installed so they can't deny warranty / pass the blame on me.
As of now, I have been told they will replace the battery ( 70AH, one month old ) with a 90AH battery and there's nothing else they can do. I had read a few posts here blaming the silver box for battery drain and shared the same with the dealership and Mahindra CRM. I was told my silverbox is fine. Basically, nobody knows why a brand new fully charged battery drains in 2 weeks and a 6 month old battery drains in just a week. Typical ghost in the system issues which are near impossible to diagnose
Mahindra team couldn't tell me why the battery discharged completely in just 17 days. Car returned with 85AH battery installed ( previous battery was 70AH )
There is a battery drain for sure but they are unable to diagnose. I guess I will just keep getting battery replaced every year. The new battery has a 18+18 warranty as per Mahindra dealer ( amaron website shows 24+24 for same model ) so hopefully I can get 2 batteries replaced under full replacement warranty before I have to start paying for this or sell off the car by then.
edit : Another customer was there fighting for battery replacement because their car's battery failed in a year ! This seems to be a "minor" yet known issue which affects very few cars and mahindra doesn't seem to be willing / able to diagnose and fix it. The law of averages applies when it comes to buying a mahindra - someone will get a lemon
