I came back after an hour and everything was fine when I started the car again.
After ownership of 1.2 years with my Petrol AT and clocking 12,000 km, I faced the same issue last evening when I returned home from the office. The steering became super stiff, and several yellow warning lights, including the engine light, turned ON and Alerts like ‘Assistance malfunctioned’ were popping up. Luckily, the gears were still engaging in reverse and drive, and the 360 cameras were operational. I managed to park my car, but when I tried to turn off the engine, the Start-Stop button didn't respond and showed an amber LED on it. I had to press and hold the button for a few seconds to turn off the car. After a few seconds, I turned the engine back on, and all the warning lights were gone except for the OBD/engine light, and the steering was back to normal.
This morning, when I started the car, the OBD/Engine light was still on. However, after driving for about a kilometer, it went off too.

To correlate the issue with the tight parking spot, let me recount the sequence of events during this ordeal:

1. In my lane, there was a car approaching from the opposite direction. With cars parked on both sides, I had to squeeze into a narrow space to let that car pass. I kept the gear in reverse to monitor if the passing car wasn't brushing against mine. The reverse beep was crying loud. 😰

2. After the other car passed, I reversed a meter or two and then drove about 50 meters towards my home. In front of my home, there were other bikes and cars parked, leaving very little space for me to maneuver. I had to go back and forth multiple times to reverse into my parking spot.

3. In the midst of this back-and-forth maneuvering, my car began throwing these vexatious tantrums.

I had captured a blurred snapshot of the warnings, didn't notice it then, as I was in a rush to log back in and attend an office call from home. Its not worth posting here.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, I had booked White D AT AWD AX7L on 1st sept and was promised delivery by end of sept but so far they dont have confirmation of car being sent from factory. My sales guy has offered others colors like red, green and electric blue so far which I dont want. How are others seeing the situation in Bangalore? Even FWD he offered readily but said that AWD is taking bit longer.

Question for AX7L manual owners
1. What all Adrenox features are available on AX7L manual variant?
2. Can we remote start AX7L manual via Adrenox app?
3. Can AC be remote started to cool the cabin before stepping into the car?
Everyone's priorities differ and thus everyone is right for the car they choose.
Congratulations for your choice, I chose the same 3 years ago so I have my gajraj (AX7L D MT). After 41k kms and 30 months, I can assure you that the L tag is worth every penny

Now for the answers,
Yes you may start and stop engine via remote, you may adjust the temperature and start AC via adrenox for cooling before stepping in the car. You may also use headlights, horn etc . But I must warn you, it's not so easy as it sounds, because the connectivity issue can be a headache (it's a Mahindra Vodafone combo afterall)

But these are minor things, your choice is good in my opinion. All the best, congratulations and happy driving

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Battery fully drained

Luckily during my 2 year 9 months ownership, I hadn’t faced an instance of battery drain. This Monday, I tried starting the car after 10 days and it wouldn’t. Battery showed only 3.8V. Of course, apart from the driver door unlocking somehow, nothing would work; say the door locks.

I tried jumpstarting using a neighbours car it didn’t work. The technician later said that I should have revved the good car to get enough voltage.

Anyways, the RSA was prompt and reached in 25min. The screens didn’t turn on until I disconnected the negative terminal after driving around for about and hour, and the check engine light didn’t go away till I left the car off overnight.

The battery showed 12.58V after an hour of driving and the negative terminal disconnected. The car did start after a day too. I am yet to check the battery voltage after couple of days.

Now I am wondering what drained the battery. I couldn’t notice anything left on and the car does turn it off after a while, say, if I leave a map light on. I do not have any accessories hard-wired too. Or is it just that the battery has gone so bad to hold the charge for 10 days in just 2yr 9 months? It’s not the first time in recent past that I left the car off for 10 days!

Recently went on a long trip and I experienced similar phenomenon on the highway. It is quite evident especially when you engage Lane Keep Assist and leave the steering, it tends to drift to the left and then corrects itself to stay in the lane, this even though the lane is straight. Doesn't happen on the right side even if you nudge the steering to the right to straighten and leave it, it again starts drifting towards left and then once again corrects itself. So I guess it might be a common problem. Planning to check it with the SC when I take it for the 1000 km service.

I'm waiting for the body section of the tail lights to be delivered to complete the sequence.
Hi @True_sedan - the links that you have provided for Boodmo for both RH and LH tail lamps, how do we check whether they are sequential indicators or normal ones before ordering. Just want to be careful so as to save myself the vicious cycle of return and refund. Pls let me know is there a way.

Also did you change all the 4 lights or just the two on the tailgate?

Regards

The sequential tail lamps have a different product serial number compared to the non-sequential ones. The links that I've mentioned in my original post are of sequential ones. You can buy without hesitation. As of posting this, I've changed all 4 to sequential. Looks much better.

Thanks for the response. Can you please share the part number of other two lights as well (non tailgate)

Body section sequential:
1703AW600011N
1703AW600021N
Tail gate section sequential:
1703AW600031N
1703AW600041N

I can see 2 out of the above 4 is in ready stock. Either stock is becoming freely available or by luck it is in stock. These things go out of stock pretty fast considering the number of XUVs out there.

Question-1) Does the car pick up speed on its own with slight throttle input when the car in front starts moving?
Sorry for the late input, not sure if you received your answer yet.

I drive an XUV700 AX7 L D AT. The ACC can be engaged above 30kmph, but once engaged, it remains active until you use the brake or turn it off. It will go down till 0kmph and go up to the "Set" speed depending on tarffic ahead.

If the car comes to a stop (due to an obstacle, or vehicle ahead rolling to a stop), ACC still remains engaged for 5seconds, after which it will flash a message on the MID, asking the driver to use either the Acc Pedal, or press the "resume" switch.

I just press "resume" to get it moving once the vehicle in front moves.

Based on visibility from rear, don't you think the current ones you have on the body are better. Because the indicator will be on throughout the blink cycle.

After my post, I saw that you have already changed it. What did you do with the older ones that came with the car?
Do you have any installation pics? Any difference you noticed between the stock ones and the sequential ones? (like the tail ones having different wire counts)

It is subjective, I think the sequential ones are better visibility wise. Frankly, the small non-sequential indicator looked comical for a car of this size.

I have kept the old ones safely tucked in the box. I don't have the time or energy to sell it. Please read through my post completely to spot the difference between the two and for installation pictures.

Definitely true. But once the ones on the tailgate are replaced, it fixes this issue. I wish the standard ones on the tailgate at least lights up. If it did, I would not have had the itch to change them.

I did, but could not find more info on the ones on the body. Please excuse me if I missed the post and please share a direct link. Thank You true_sedan. from one still true_hatchback.

Man I wish the Jazz had this amount of ground clearance.

On a side note. I did my first service at 1400 Km.
I wanted to change the engine oil. The rear wiper was leaving streaks of water. So I asked to change it too.
The bill came out to 3992. (including 6L engine oil, oil filter, crush nut and a car set of disposable car seat cover, steering cover and wiper fluid add-on and the rear wiper (around 350 bucks)).
Bloody happy overall. But they took one hour to receive the vehicle and for time constraints had to ask for no wash. (they will honor the pending wash as and when I have the time. There would have been longer delays just for the wash)

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi fellow XUV owners. Today I faced a very scary situation. Mine is August 2024 AX7L AWD D AT. So while moving in traffic, the car was stopped on red light. Once green since the road ahead after signal was empty, I tried to accelerate little aggressively. To my horror there was no response from the engine even when the accelerator paddle was fully depressed. Was a very embarrassing situation as a barrage of honks showered on me. Then I switched off the vehicle, opened the driver door and reshut it. After starting, the engine started behaving normally. May be a once in a million situation, but it scared the hell out of me. I have not taken it to service station since it will be impossible to recreate the situation.

Anyone else faced the similar situation?

From the video, to me, it looks like a clear case of a failing Fuel Pump. The fuel is not able to reach on time to ignite the crank.

A failing fuel pump can behave erratically. When the car does start, is the cranking duration longer than normal ? If yes, then its definitely the fuel pump, if not, then it might be something else that is blocking the fuel supply.

Usually, there is a short "whizzz" kind of sound (can be easily heard in dead silence) when accessories mode is activated indicating that the fuel pump has received power.

Comparing the presence/absence of that sound in normal and abnormal scenarios may help in further diagnosis of the issue.
