When you start you have your foot on the clutch and brake. XUV holds the brake for a second more when you release the brake and press accelerator. I have noticed this on flat surface so it's not the hill hold assist. Hill hold keeps engaged bit longer, around 3 second.

Otherwise also squeaking is common in disk brakes specially when they are cold. The pads are always touching the disk. The bit is more in the mornings. This is general nature of the pads.
But if the noise is continuous, you should get it checked and cleaned.

This should hold for Automatic models while the engine is cranked holding the brakes first time in morning (cold start), higher initial RPM and torque could be the culprit. Not sure ,whether this will hold for manual transmission, where the engine is started while holding clutch only.

I agree ,haven’t had this kind of noisy experience with my others cars having Disk brakes. There shall be a fix ,this can’t be a feature .

I had the same issue last week (AX7L AWD, 29K Km, July2022 model). The centre console AC vent knob broke. Service centre said its not covered under warranty. Living with it

May be Mahindra is already aware that the know an aren’t of good quality and hence are not included in warranty. I have seen people reporting AC vent direction adjusting knobs breaking in Hyryder thread also.
How much does the part cost?
Is this part readily available in stock?
On a side note, how effective is 2nd row AC in hot summers when temperature goes above 42 degrees?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Folks, finally made up my mind and booked AX7L D AT AWD - White over the weekend. I drove the D AT car couple of times between different dealers and found NVH a bit different mainly due to maintenance of the car maybe. 2nd test drive was better and vibrations were bit lesser than 1st time around.

Booked with ANant motors at Marathahalli, they have committed for a delivery within 4 wks primarly due to AWD and lack of stock. He was offering a FWD AT immediately but I am ok to wait few weeks for AWD. Now need to decide on tire swap options. Pricing wise no discount beyond the 2 lac, insurance I can get independently or they will price match, 10% disc on accessories

Also I wanted to install the side step and rear bumper guard, any reco if I should stick with Mahindra accessory or get it after market? Mahindra side step at 25K seems steep.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

My Green Cheetah was booked on 16th August and received it on 30th August. So far I have driven 300 kms and it's an amazing ride. Transition from Petrol to Diesel has been smooth so far. Infact that minor cabin noise or Diesel revving is so soothing on my ears.

I have just given the car for Aegis Armor TPU PPF at Carzspa, Surat who happens to be a good friend.

Will post more pictures once it's done.

Thank you.

Congratulations! Do let us know how the switch from XUV500 to XUV700 feels.

I would go with OEM as they are constructed really well (at least for XUV500)

Thanks Rajdeep, certainly will share my initial ownership experience and comparisons.

You are right about OEM quality. For XUV500 it was very good, but I read that XUV700 OEM side step is not full metal, hence my doubt. Will personally check it out with Mahindra before deciding.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

How many are using Zip mode in city driving ?
Initially I tried but everytime I stop the engine it defaults to Zap mode. After a couple of attempts I gave up.
Yesterday I casually tried using it again and I found lot of difference. It is much smoother compared to Zap mode.
After all the software updates is there any way to memorize the driving mode ?

Yes, we have to manually change it. I have driven only in the city till now and found Zip mode bit smoother and it gives better mileage. Sadly there is noway to fix Zip mode as the default drive mode.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Guys,

I went yesterday to Ananth Cars OMR Bangalore and was informed that there is a price reduction of 2 lakh rupees because of 3 year anniversary which make is even more logical to buy the XUV7oo.

I am almost decided on XUV7oo. However not sure of the version. I understand that AX7 comes with lot of safety features and 7L is required as the fake leather will otherwise sweat you a lot. So AX7L it will be. But there are few basic questions to be answered

1.) Manual or AT - I drove the diesel manual, no inconvenience and felt at home as I drive manual swift plus I own a 1958 Fiat and 1965 Jeep. So manual is ok. I will drive the Automatic today.

2.) Diesel or Petrol - My so far driving has been 10k km per year with mostly city drives. Long highway drives are only once in 6 months. So was thinking the DPF could be an issue here. Weekend highway drives 100km both ways will be there occasionally.

3.) 2wd or Awd - I was interested in AWD purely for fancy and to take my car on to hilly regions, but that will be like one in 2 years. Currently I go to hills of Ooty with my swift without an issue so think the FWD on XUV700 will also be ok.

I am almost decided on Diesel Manual 2WD (FWD) AX7L.

However writing it here incase I may be missing some points for and against my choice.

Regards,

Manish

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi Folks,
I have a creta 2nd Gen as of now and have been so considering buying the Xuv 700. I am a value for money person so as of now zeroed in on the AX5 5seater manual petrol. The price on offer just a little less than 20 lacs.
I need help from this forum on deciding if is the right car. Here is the scope of my need
- Want to feel an upgrade from the creta which has a beautiful 1490 cc engine and still runs awesome. Hence a little fixated on the 2 lts options as of now.
Tried the harrier and just didnt like the feel of it. XUV 700 felt light and easy to maneuver. Thought will give the Curvv a shot which is a completely different segment but if the engine feels punchy may go for it. Waiting for the test drive vehicle. Didnt notice anything interesting in the Kia, hyundai, Honda stable so gave them a miss so far.

-I will mostly use the vehicle in city traffic in mumbai and weekend destinations will be max 2-3 a year. Hence drivability and punch is my key objective. Parking and getting through congested roads in an Xuv 700 is a concern i have so any people who have the Xuv can comment about how it fits into places. I am very used to a creta as of now.

-Finally i have always enjoyed complete peace of mind with a Hyundai car. Never visited the service centre for any issues other than service. I am jittery about going for a mahindra given all the horror stories but given its been 3 years since the launch am assuming they may have sorted out most of the niggles.

So summarizing my questions
1) Am i missing out on any car options given my requirements
2) I Xuv 700 usage in city traffic a hindrance of any sort
3) Can i trust mahindra with no vehicle issues . I dont feel like spending 50k on additional warranties as of now.

Please help me with this cognitive dissonance !

Go for diesel AT. I am saying because you'll face fewer DPF issues in AT as compared to MT. The AT gearbox combo keeps the engine at optimum rpm and minimizes soot generation. Additionally, it will be easier to drive.

Mine is a Diesel MT

I like to use Zip mode within city usually I switch over in traffic and stay in that mode. It is able to move the vehicle easily in 1 & 2nd gear without pressing the accelerator and that's a boon in slow moving stop and go traffic. Only clutch and brake.
on 1st gear 0 - 9
on 2nd gear 0 - 16 (no gradient)
The pickup is good enough to stay with the crowd.

The Zap mode also goes to max of these speeds without pressing accelerator, but I feel the Zip mode is more comfortable to take off from zero. I tried comparing Zip and Zap for RPM and Torque differences, but no visible differences on the instrument panel for these two modes. Looks like the anti stall feature is calibrated well for city traffic in Zip mode.

I am also looking for similar feedback. I am still torn between AX7L Diesel MT at ₹22.49 lakh vs AX7 Diesel AT at ₹21.59 lakh ex-showroom. I can't go beyond ₹23 lakh due to financial constraints.

The clutch on my test drive Diesel MT was hard and I got some pain in my left leg after 30 minutes of driving in city traffic. Your feedback looks assuring that MT will not give my left leg additional exercise than what it is used to. I will try to get hold of MT test drive from another dealership and try driving in Zip/Zap modes as per your feedback.

I have been unable to get test drive of Diesel automatic for past 1+ week. SA does not even bother to call back to let me know when the car will be available.
