Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Mahindra has silently increased ex-showroom price of discounted AX7 DSL AT by ₹15k. AX7 DSL AT price is now ₹21.74 lakh

Anyone has taken delivery with this updated price?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello All,

I was planning to purchase a full sized alloy wheel and tyre with TPMS to replace the puny motorcycle tyre provided as a spare wheel on the XUV700 AX7L.
Upon researching, I found that the M2All website is no longer operational. The service centre has quoted me the below prices for the following:

Spare Alloy wheel: INR 33486/-
TOPMS sensor: INR 972/-
Tyre MRF : INR 15600/-

The spare alloy price seems overly inflated to me. Could anyone confirm if this indeed is a reasonable price?

Secondly, I wanted to install a hard wired dash cam (inclining towards Qubo 3K dual channel). Could anyone point me in the right direction for carrying this out in Mumbai?

Thanks in advance.

The alloy price definitely is wrong, maybe it is for a pair.

I bought it on Boodmo for my AX5 and it is available now for about 15k.

I have a 70Mai mirror dashcam whose rear camera went bust within 2 years, service is bad.

I went for Wolfbox for my Thar
and it is doing good after 2 years.

Dashcam is very useful accessory for XUV.

Indeed it's over inflated at-least 2 times of the actual MRP (excl taxes). The whole package (Alloy wheel + Tyre + TPMS) should cost around that rate, not just alloy wheel alone.

M2mall has been decommissioned for a long time now. Wish it was revived soon, as there are a lot of items M&M offers for it's cars and SUVs that dealers won't stock .

Dear Mogs and Haystack_needle, thank you for the inputs. After further enquiry from the dealer, he has confessed that it was a mistake and the actual price of the alloy wheel is INR16743/-.

I had also replaced my spare wheel with a full size alloy just 3 months back. The brand new alloy wheel costed 14500 INR and the TPMS costed some 9XX INR from Sireesh Auto, Bengaluru.

Possibly dealer would have quoted the 33K price including the Alloy + Tire + TPMS. Please double confirm with the dealer.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I took my 2024 XUV700 D AT L AWD 7-seater on the first longish trip and was able to try out some of the ADAS features. Some observations:

1. The adaptive cruise control works really well, and I was impressed with the auto-steer on just the flick of the turn signal indicator.
2. I did end up having to override cruise control several times because of slow moving traffic - especially HTVs and 2-wheelers. I imagine the adaptive cruise control will work really well on access-controlled expressways.
3. The aircon vents for 1st and 3rd row passengers is great, but the 2nd row aircon vents are not very effective. Pretty must half the time the vehicle was getting too cold for the 1st row, whereas 2nd row was still not that comfortably cool. It may require some more experiments with the various parameters before we can conclude this.
4. We were 7 people onboard - 4 adults, 1 infant in a car-seat and 2 kids. There was ample space for seating, but it was quite a struggle to fit luggage for just a 2 day trip in the boot. We ended up having to stuff our duffle bags in the 3rd row leg space and both the kids were sitting with their legs on the duffle bag - can't say they were complaining. But this may not work out on longer trips where we'll need to carry a few trolleys. Given the sunroof, I'm not sure if putting*a roof rack is safe, but will try and explore this option.

I understand that AX7L comes with continous recording feature from its 360degree cameras. Do we still need a separate dashcam?

Which dealership have you booked with?
Have you checked with VVC as well on black Color availability?
I have enquired Neon motors and Automotive Mahindra and both don’t have MY23 stock.

I test drove Alcazar couple of months back.
Points I have noted with Alcazar test drive
1. Cramped 3rd row compared to 700
2. Second row has compromised leg room to make room for 3rd row
3. BS6.2 diesel feels very lethargic to drive. 1.5 DCT has better throttle response
4. Second row door floor is lower than the place where door ends. You have to lift your leg to come out
5. Entry and exit are easy for elderly due to lesser ground clearance
6. 360 degree camera resolution is good and you can turn it on at any speed by using dedicated button
7. Blind view monitor on the mid is handy and shows camera feed in the left or right circle
8. Ventilated seats work very well in Hyundai and Kia compared to Mahindra/Tata/MG/Maruti
9. Hyundai is the only one providing 8 way adjustable front driver seat. You can adjust under thigh support as needed.

Alcazar Signature (O) DCT with discounts will be lesser than XUV700 AX7 Petrol AT. You can look at features and also experience them with your family to decide if Alcazar works for you.
Alcazar sales is very low so I am not sure how long will Hyundai continue with Alcazar in say next 15 years
Thanks for the response! Have gone with the AT as it will be used more by the Mrs and most our drive will be in the city. We went with AML dealership and also checked with Neon on 2023 stock and as you said both were out of stock. Did not check with VVC, will give them a quick call to see if they have any stock, but I would assume not.
For me space and the engine are the big drawbacks with the Alcazar. The facelift does not seem to address the space and is definitely not addressing the engine. Will wait and keep my eyes open for Hyundai's detailed launch update.

The XUV700 inbuilt dashcam continuous recording would only be enabled when an SD card has been inserted (max 32Gb).
A standalone dashcamera has below advantages when compared to inbuilt (depending on price, manufacturer, model; not all features are supported!):
  1. A dedicated dashcamera will allow you to choose more higher resolution (hardware restriction)
  2. The in-built camera photos and recordings are stored in combined format, ie all 4 channels are combined into fisheyed videos and stored as a single file (each of 4 streams is added as a quarter of the screen), so you see them as a quarter tile. Retrieving in-depth data like license plate from this is difficult.
  3. Retrieving the memory card from the infotainment control unit is not a user / customer DIY task. You'll have to visit ASC. For a 3rd party dashcam, it's accessible directly to user.
  4. The recorded images or videos are inaccessible on an external device like mobile phone or computer, in case of in-built dashcam. 3rd party dashcams allow you to download / stream / upload stored images and videos to mobile / computer / online (depending on the make and model) on demand.
  5. Low light and night time visibility on inbuilt dashcam is poor. Some 3rd party dashcams have IR LEDs for better night time visibility.
  6. As the cameras of in-built dashcam are exposed to elements of nature, it can have distorted recording due to dirt or water or external objects blocking the lens glass.
  7. Some 3rd party dashcams allow tapless installation, relying on 12V socket / OBD port.
  8. 3rd party dashcams can be remotely controlled (via voice or bluetooth buttons) and have easily accessible dedicated buttons to create emergency recording, without sensing a shock
  9. Voice and video recording of in-cabin is supported by 3rd party dashcams
  10. Parking mode and motion sensing recording are supported by external dashcams
  11. Most of these support memory cards with space of 128 Gb or more, so overwriting is less frequent.
Having said that, in-built dashcam suits you if:
  1. You want to keep the car in OEM spec
  2. Dislike / distrust wiretaps and fusetaps, dangling wires and fishing / squeezing wires through tight spaces.
  3. Content with the recording and image quality of built-in dashcam.
  4. Incorrect configuration of dashcam can drain your battery during parking mode.
  5. M&M inbuilt dashcam is supported for the 3 or 5 year warranty you choose. Most 3rd party dashcams have warranty of 1 to 2 years.
  6. If you are unable to mount the 3rd party dashcam and hide it properly, it might interfere your driving visibility.
3rd party dashcam price ranges upto 60K depending on features and manufacturer. Sony Starvis2 is the industry latest lens out there.

I have been pretty content with built-in dashcam as I do not rely on recorded images or videos for most time. All I need is a live feed. To be frank, sometimes I think I need a 3rd party dashcam.

Adaptive cruise control on Indian roads are pretty tough, IMO. Only on seemingly empty roads, expressway and access controlled highway drives can fully utilize this feature. Also, the cruise control won't work for sharp turns greater than couple of degrees.

I too have felt the 2nd row A/C is of lesser power, especially during blazing hot summer. Luckily as there is are dedicated vents on 3rd row, it helps ease the situation. There were situations that the air temp of 2nd row was slightly warmer than the air blown from 1st and 3rd row vents. Same is the case of cooled hand-rest storage box.

XUV700 has very limited boot-space in 7 seat variants. Adding a luggage carriage roof rack on a panoramic sunroof is a risky task (might also cause issues with law in some states). The glass might not be hard enough and there might be structural tension when loading heavy luggage as the rails are not that sturdy. Like you did, minor adjustments are possible for a short trip, however longer trip over multiple days and all 7 seats occupied it a big task in hand.

Went to check out the AX7 AWD allotted to me.
It came in from Mahindra today itself.
It is FEB 2024 manufactured with MRF Tyres from 0224 (2nd week of 2024? right?)

I am a bit worried seeing this greenish stuff on the lower part of the window.

Is it something to be concerned about?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

To me, it looks like the vehicle was parked out in the open and has been collecting dust, rain water and grime for quite a while. Check with your dealer and see if you can get another vehicle.

On a side note, I have been reading about many XUV 700 AWDs from Jan / Feb /Mar '24 lot being allotted to buyers in Aug '24. We are stuck with steep waiting periods and all we get is a pretty old vehicle. Am I missing something??

I agree with all your points. One major advantage of the in-built dashcam is it records in all 360 degrees. I am not sure if this is possible in the standalone. I faced a road rage incident and the event occurred on the left side and the recording from the 360 camera immensely helped me de-escalate the issue with a "Ferrari" helmet bicker.

Whoa! They are quoting way more. In the month of May, I replaced my XUV's spare tyre, bought AX7 alloy at 15000 from Sahayadri motors Wakad in Pune.
Bought MRF stock size tyre at 12700 from a local dealer. TPMS sensor cap costed some 200.

Hi Roy,
This is my first post here. So bear with me please. I am in the same boat as you(Booked an AWD AX7). I think you can check the window mechanism and if it does not squeak or hesitate you can proceed with the complete PDI. Check the sunroof lining also.
