Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Tyre change at 18K km?

My AX7 PAT front left tyre has worn down to the wear indicator while front right has half a mm more thread. Back tyres has a lot more threads that I cannot even notice the wear indicator from outside.

Mahindra XUV700 Review-img_3529.jpeg

I do accelerate hard occasionally and Bangalore has some horrible roads but 18k km is indeed a bit too early. Did anyone else had to change tyres around 20K?

Also, I am considering Yokohama RV02 of same size but apparently 109V or 103W. Not able to confirm spec online; the dealer said 109V, one online store 103W whereas the current tyres are Apollo Aptera HP 103H. Any suggestions?

Retrospectively, it looks like I should have rotated the tyres earlier. They were rotated once at 9.7K.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Quick question. I went in for a PDI today for my AX7, P AT and the sunroof was giving trouble closing. It kept going back to full open when trying to close from halfway position. I also tried to put my hand and apply slight force to see if the anti pinch feature works. To my surprise I was told there is NO anti pinch feature in the sunroof.

Any confirmation on same would be highly appreciated.

Also I have been told that car will now have to visit the workshop prior delivery to get the issue fixed and it could be a software update, which I personally don’t think is the case.

Don't sweat on this - this is common and they will do a manual relearn of the sunroof by following few sequence of steps and these steps are also mentioned in your manual. The service folks do a pre delivery pdi and own any fixes or software updates and the sales folks usually don't get involved much into these other than just coordinating.

Sunroof does come with anti pinch and auto close too that gets triggerred with rain sensor.

1. There is a weird clicking sound coming from the back door of drivers side. Now this is something electrical as I have witnessed it multiple times while the car is standstill with the ignition turned off. The clicking noise that comes from the screen is altogether a different issue and still exists after multiple software updates. On informing the co-tech he just got the screws of my driver seat tightened up. Just wow.

2. Looks like it's going to take forever for Mahindra to fix software issues. Putting the car in different drive modes everytime is still an uphill task. The physical button and the screen option for the same are unresponsive 5/10 times.

3. As mentioned by others, the rubber bead sound is prominent at even low speeds . The resolution provided by my workshop was rubbing some lubricating oil over them. Problem remains as it is. Though will try the WD-40 to see if it works.

4. The gas strut of the boot is not as Swift as it use to be. It requires more effort to bring it halfway. What can be done with the same ?

5. During the morning runs, the gears are not at all smooth. The 1st and 2nd gear do stuck a lot and require upshifting or downshifting to resolve the issue.
Rest apart, The fuel efficiency in city these days. Ranges from 17.3-18.2 and on highways it's around 19-19.3KMPL. Mine is AX5 D MT. Any idea on close these odometer figures are to reality ?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I went for PDI of my AX7L D AT but didn't get chance to do the PDI, as the area of the showroom had total power shutdown. The car was in their stockyard nearby with all dust and it was parked very close to other cars such that the doors cannot be opened. Stockyard was jam packed. I was really having a bad thought as they didn't get ready the car even after telling them that I will be coming for PDI, well ahead of a couple of days.

But the joy of owning 700 in a few days time made me stay calm. I was just able to confirm that it is NOV 23 manufactured using the VIN.

Made few negotiations on few things like the accessories that will go into the car before delivery and insurance.

Can someone help me on the insurance part.
The showroom has tie up with Chola & Liberty. I checked online prices with Chola and they were cheaper by 25k against dealer's quote for same comprehensive insurance (add-ons like - zero depreciation, key replacement, engine protection, consumables, personal belongings, RTI, passenger cover and PA cover. I decided to take all the add-ons).

Can I go ahead with the online insurance? Can someone provide which I should opt for, online or dealer? (as dealer will take care of all the things like inspection and claims and repair if something happens)..
Being a 1st time owner, I'm not aware of these. It would a great help if someone provides me a quick solution.

TIA.

As I believe quite a few of the cars have had their sensors go Kaput.

Experienced the same in the last week of September.

Details in the latest post of my ownership report :- https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test-...ml#post5682930 (The Flights of Icarus | Our Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel MT)

In my case, the ASC took exactly a month to get the job completed as they had to order a set of two new sensors to check if it was either one of the two which was faulty, or both. Turned out to be the left one. It was replaced under warranty after being painted in body colour shade.

A first in my 4-wheeler ownership experience till now. And no, it wasn't a result of a software update, since I got the MAPPLS patch in the system after the sensor went bad.

Poor Quality Control, most definitely.

We have owned much, much cheaper cars equipped with reverse sensors and never, ever had to go through this till now. Mahindra needs to sit up and address this rather basic issue. Since they have been so pro-active in listening to owners' feedback, I am sure they are working on this with their vendors and tightening up their QC checks as we speak.

Dear RavenAvi, thank you for sharing your inputs on this. On a side note, I wanted to ask, is there any update planned or scheduled for the other niggles that plague us like - Dual Screen Blank issue and Boomy suspension? Thank you

1. The first option is going with the insurance claim. My car was purchased on 24/03/2023. So around 2.5 months of insurance cover remains. Also I have not made any claims till now. As for insurance the body shop asked me to pay a sum of ₹2000 as processing charges and the rest would be taken care of. Also they will hold the car for two days.

2. The second option is paying for the windshield out of my own pocket. It will cost me around ₹14K for my AX5 version. And for this they told me they'll deliver the car in the evening, the very same day.
You should opt for insurance and a processing fee of 1500/- to 2000/- INR is usually applicable for a claim. I had replaced my cars windshield due to a similar problem through and insurance claim. ASC at Bangalore took a days time to get the work done through insurance and delivered the car next day.

Since last 2 months, I have experienced the same, sensors not working, intermittently about 3 times. But it corrects automatically too. Should I escalate this to ASC?

Yokos with 107V seem to be the popular choice for most owners. Higher the load bearing index and high speed handling, the better. 109V might be a bit of an overkill, unless you are driving with a constant load of 1,000+ kgs in your XUV.

Also, if you are not a high-speed chaser, H or V suits you fine. W isn't really required.

A lot of work is going on behind the scenes to finetune the AdrenoX experience. Future Mahindra cars shall have better systems. This was a first for Mahindra too so these glitches were bound to happen. Unfortunately for all of us first-users of the system, we were the scapegoats.

The 10.27.61/62 update was supposed to cure the blank screen issues. It has done so in my Icarus. If you are still experiencing them, either get the patch re-installed or wait for the next update.

Suspension sounds have been reduced greatly after the lower control arms job. Get that done.

Could be connector issues or a random sensor bitten by the non-functioning bug. Get it checked ASAP. Better safe than sorry.

Sure you can. It's your money, and at least till you've parted with it you hold the upper hand in negotiations.
Politely tell the dealer that you'd like to give them the business provided they can match or come close to the online quote you've got. In most likelihood they will. In insurance, the only value addition the dealer is doing is saving you the task of having to call up the surveyor, uploading documents etc on your own in case of a claim. I was quoted ~ 99K for the AWD, got it for ~63 K on my own and plonked the difference into accessories

Agree with your point that first choice could be to negotiate with dealer to match outside quote.

Adding some more perspective about value addition by dealer.

Dealers earn fat commission on new car insurance from unsuspecting customers, specially first time buyers. It is always negotiable and customer should look for good deal. Service center does not do anything differently during claim whether you buy insurance from them or not. Claim processing depends on the tie up of insurance company with the service center. Customer can buy own insurance by keeping in mind that the insurance company should have vast network of cashless tie up, specially with your choice of service centers. Many folks in the forum (including myself) have opted to buy insurance on our own and as long as it is from a reputed company with good cashless network coverage pan India, it works without any issues.

Thanks to this forum, after the first couple of times we've always gotten the insurance on our own. When we had to claim for a windshield replacement & side panel repaint for our Dzire, the MS dealer's employees (Beekay Auto, Matigara Siliguri WB) told me that since the insurance wasn't from Maruti, I'll have to call the concerned insurance company's surveyor myself. I called him, the guy came, took the pics, asked me to upload a few documents to their portal and they approved the job. This was in 2018.
Had the insurance been from the dealer they would've done these things on their own so there is a bit of a difference. This may be a dealer specific practice too but either way, it wasn't much of a hassle considering the savings.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi,

I have the XUV 700 AX5 petrol automatic model and had got the reverse parking camera installed at the showroom while taking delivery last year. This was part of Mahindra genuine accessory list.

In the last 2-3 days, i keep getting a constant blue screen when i engage the reverse gear and one 1-2 occasions when the camera did come on, there was constant severe flickering.

Took it to the service centre today morning and i was told that the camera needs to be replaced and since its out of warranty, will have to pay for the replacement.

I was showing RavenAvi's thread to the service centre guy to check if they could put the AX7 camera in my AX5. Cause even the service guys were telling me that accessory camera has been giving a lot of problems and they have recently replaced 3-4 cameras under warranty.

While they said they will check if it is possible to put the AX7 camera in my AX5, wanted to check with anyone here, especially folks from bangalore if they have had any luck with this anywhere or any other reliable camera options, how about the Blaupkunt DH05 etc?

EDIT: I checked on boodmo and the AX7 camera seems to be available there, so any help in getting this fitted is greatly appreciated
