It is unfortunate that your dealership is still not using the V4 for BS-6 cars. You can take up this issue with the CC and your local dealership for a long term perspective. I would suggest you change the engine oil with V4 as soon as possible.

I follow a practice of changing the engine oil at every 10K interval. I have used the V4 at my 20K service, even though engine oil change was not prescribed in the manual. Initial result was good as the engine noise and vibrations reduced and the running became smooth. But over a period of another 10K running I have noticed that the engine noise has increased slightly though the vibration etc. are not there. My car is at 29.5K now and I intend to change the oil again at 30K service.
Also I would like to have suggestions on few more issues that I am encountering in my XUV 700 AX5 D MT.

1. There is a weird clicking sound coming from the back door of drivers side. Now this is something electrical as I have witnessed it multiple times while the car is standstill with the ignition turned off. The clicking noise that comes from the screen is altogether a different issue and still exists after multiple software updates. On informing the co-tech he just got the screws of my driver seat tightened up. Just wow.

2. Looks like it's going to take forever for Mahindra to fix software issues. Putting the car in different drive modes everytime is still an uphill task. The physical button and the screen option for the same are unresponsive 5/10 times.

3. As mentioned by others, the rubber bead sound is prominent at even low speeds . The resolution provided by my workshop was rubbing some lubricating oil over them. Problem remains as it is. Though will try the WD-40 to see if it works.

4. The gas strut of the boot is not as Swift as it use to be. It requires more effort to bring it halfway. What can be done with the same ?

5. During the morning runs, the gears are not at all smooth. The 1st and 2nd gear do stuck a lot and require upshifting or downshifting to resolve the issue.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Last week, I got a pleasant little surprise from Anantcars, Bannerghatta Road (Bengaluru). I booked the AX7L P AT in Midnight Black the previous month and received a call last week about the allotment. I booked a Zekardo inspection yesterday, and everything seems okay except for a couple of pixel-level paint issues on the doors and extremely minute boot misalignment. Hopefully, the dealer will fix them before the delivery. The invoice is done, and we're waiting for the final payment before the car is sent for registration.

They're also offering the Tata AIG insurance from "Ensure by Mahindra for about 65K that includes NIL DEP, RTI, ENGINE PROTECTION, RSA, PERSONAL BELONGING, CONSUMABLES, KEY REPLACEMENT, TYRE PROTECTION as add-ons. I've also asked them to include the "Return to invoice" addon.

For accessories, I've opted for a Tailgate scuff protector, Bumper corner protector, Scuff Protector Set Theme 1 - [Part AW60018], Infotainment screen protector, Mud flap set, and Micro SD card. I'm planning to order the Pharaoh floor mats.

Please let me know if the insurance and accessories sound good or I'm missing something important. (First new car ).

I was almost 99% sure I would cancel the booking because I didn't want to wait for an unknown time. I also had another booking for VW Virtus that would be allotted in a week or two. All in all, it has been a pleasant experience so far with the Mahindra sales associate. Now, I'm preparing myself for the ownership experience. Hopefully, it will be pleasant as well. :fingers-crossed:.

Congratulations for the XUV700.
Instead of Pharaoh Mats I would recommend GFX Mats for XUV 700

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello everyone!

I have a bit of an on-going issue with the dealer reg delivery. Posting this so fellow members are aware of such scams.

Background:
I had booked my XUV700 AX7L D AT, right about end of march 2023. Its December last week and I've received a call from my sales rep stating there's this car available and I should proceed with my finance. I was happy to hear all this.

Story:
My loan was processed and ready to disbursed.
While asking my sales rep for final quote, he added all unnecessary accesories (which obviously i asked them to remove which were not needed to me, keeping just the footrest+mudflaps) + Ceramic Coating.

When i asked to remove the ceramic coating (cause i had already shortlisted another detailer) the sales rep got a bit annoyed and stated that the car was supposed to be delivered to someone els, and that person's loan could not be processed and hence it is been moved to you. I was firm on my decision on not paying on the ceramic coat. This got escalated quickly and I had to talk to the sales manager.

He then requested a followup and came with 2 solution:
1. A 20% discount on the coat (because they claim its already on the car, and I did not want it, so they are waving off the margin).
2. Wait to arrange another car for a few days, which I was okay with ( so the sales-mgr suggested there is going to be transportation charge) because he will have to get the car from another dealer.

I have agreed to take up the first option of taking the car with coating, because I do not want to push the purchase in Jan, making the ex-showroom price higher.

The worst part is, I know all this wrong doings and I still have to go ahead with this to dodge those 5% hike manufacturers usually have.
Also that I am not in town and my dad is going to do the PDI (and yes he is automobile guy along with teambhp PDI checklist) so a little stressed.

Tbh I am skeptical on the ceramic coating already been done. Dad is going to check on the coating with a simple water test at the stockyard today. And if i do not get the coat, good for me, I can get it done from my detailer. And will definitely pick up the car, but will for sure escalate this issue to higher authorities at Mahindra for these wrong doings.

Also the dealer is based out of Vapi and he is the only dealer to my 150kms radius.

What do you guys feel? How should I proceed? Considering I want to make the purchase before ex-showroom price increases.

You should ask for a replacement of the throttle body under warranty and ask the ASC to connect you with the M&M Service Manager of your area. The ASC will probably want to clean it first and replace it if the problem still persists. Discuss with the Service Manager all your issues and shoot a mail to the service manager with copy to CC.

1. Get the door alignment and the window glass checked.
2. I have learnt to live with it, though feels very irritating at times.
3. I also use WD40 when things become too irritating. Personally I have noticed that filling the tyres with N2 and maintaining the right tyre pressure, many of these vibration related issues do not occur.
5. I have an AT - so won't be of any help here.

You're spot-on except that I would prefer the side steps and the corner protectors are known to come-off after some time.

I decided against side steps because the car users are primarily taller. Not sure how effective it is against riders who get too close because it doesn't seem protruding enough.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Is anyone else annoyed by the amount of dust that get accumulated below the bootlid where the tailgate scuff plate is supposed to be pasted? I feel the gap is a bit high there to accommodate the scuff plate. Anyone explored any solutions like a rubber scuff plate or so?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Is XUV 700 still the "Value For Money" that it was at the launch?

One of the best thing for which the car was appreciated by all reviewers unanimously was the VFM tag upon launch. The top model (AX7L D AT) upon launch was at 21.59 Lacs, and it was first of its kind to offer those many features at this price point.

Fast forward 2 years: The same top variant is dearer by 5 lacs Ex-showroom (costing 25.25 Lacs), translating to 6 lacs additional (OTR).

This begs the questions whether the car can still be considered the best VFM of segment, considering not ALL niggles are sorted and it's just 2 years. Should this still be considered as VFM?

Glad to know that you are enjoying the drive though there are known niggles and someway or the other, a newer one keeps coming up! Even I hope to enjoy the car as much as other folks have done so far. Thanks for sharing your views.

Congratulations for the XUV700. I'm going for the PDI this Saturday. Even I'm planning to go with Tailgate scuff protector, Bumper corner protector, Scuff Protector sand blasted ones for all 4 doors, Mud flap set. Planning to get the micro SD card 32gb myself and check if they can put it in before delivery. And for the screen guard, someone in the thread mentioned that the cost is high and we can get it half the price from amazon. Do check that out too.

Insurance - that is a good quote from the dealer. May be I will discuss all these once the PDI is satisfactory.

Can you please share pics so that it would be great to decide on Pharaoh or the GFX. About to be proud XUV700 owner soon.

I'm also planning for the corner protectors. I'm having second thoughts now as I have been considering front and rear PPF, along with handles and ORVMs. Is it a wise choice to go for PPF?

I'm in a similar position as you. My booking timeline is as below.
March 2022 - first TD and fell in love with the car.
Sep 11, 2023 - Booked online for AWD with dealer#1. And after couple of weeks, was judging whether I needed AWD variant.
Nov 14 - TD of 700 at my place. AX7L P AT with family. All liked it.
Nov 17 - TD with family at dealer#2. Diesel AX7L AT and Scorpio-N Z8L petrol AT. SA promised earlier delivery and we decided on AX7L D AT.
Nov 28 - Cancelled AWD booking from dealer#1.
Dec 9, 2023 - After discussing and deciding on finance options with family, booked AX7L D AT non-AWD with dealer#2.
Dec 14 - asked to push and deliver car from 2024 1st lot.
Dec 15 - was told that they will allot car coming from factory and asked me if I'm ok for allotment. Told OK to proceed.

I kept calling my SA for updates, but was informed that no response from factory.

Dec 19 - contacted dealer#1 to check for any stocks are readily available. To my surprise, the variant which I asked for was available and I paid the booking amount on Dec 20 as part of holding the car. Now loan is in progress.

PDI scheduled for 23rd. If all is well, invoicing and loan will be processed post Christmas. Soft delivery will be done before new year and I have asked to do registration on 1st week of January and I will be getting the car after number plate fitting

Fingers-crossed as this will be my first car

Yes for me, AX7L D AT comes in at 25.26L and comparing this to Safari top end, the only contender in market, coming in at 26.99L gives a difference of 1.7L which is pretty significant. The Harrier top end is priced 60K more than 700 top end

Even the AWD variant comes in cheaper by 40k compared to Safari and 60K more than Harrier.

I have the same variant as yours, and I am facing the exact same issues you have mentioned. Here are some remedial measures you can take:

1) The sound coming from the rear door seems to be related to fuel or the DEF supply system. I think it's normal operational noise and nothing to worry about. A bigger issue is the splashing sound from the fuel tank, also known as the 'football in the boot' sound.

2) Though I have faced the screen hang issue a few times after the latest software updates, drive mode selection works 9/10 for me. Try to turn on the ignition and then give it 5–10 seconds to boot up before starting the engine. I have seen that screen hang occur mostly when I start the car in one go without holding.

3) WD-40 does work for window beading noise, but only for a few weeks. I have been using it for the last 6 months.

4) The tailgate is slightly difficult to operate both during closing and opening. Frankly, the tailgate should be power-assisted for this height and weight.

5) The 1st and 2nd gears are hard to engage in cold conditions; try not to raise the rpm in the first two gears and shift at around 1200–1300 rpm. It should ease the problem a bit.

So an unfortunate dent to my heart. A stone chipping happened on the front windshield while I was cruising on highway. Since even a day seeing the car like that is not possible for me i would like to get it replaced. I have two options. I would like suggestions from BHPians.

1. The first option is going with the insurance claim. My car was purchased on 24/03/2023. So around 2.5 months of insurance cover remains. Also I have not made any claims till now. As for insurance the body shop asked me to pay a sum of ₹2000 as processing charges and the rest would be taken care of. Also they will hold the car for two days.

2. The second option is paying for the windshield out of my own pocket. It will cost me around ₹14K for my AX5 version. And for this they told me they'll deliver the car in the evening, the very same day.

You should definitely opt for insurance in this matter. Processing charges for opting insurance are common.

We pay through our noses for the insurance and the add-ons. So why not use it when the time comes !
