The Delhi RTO documents have spilled the beans on the XUV700 before Mahindra announces prices of other variants

the MX Diesel, Mahindra has homologated all variants with manual and automatic transmissions.

The top-spec variant, AX7, is only available as a seven-seater. And if you want an all-wheel drivetrain, your choice is limited to the top-spec AX7 Diesel AT.

The C, T, and L in the top-spec AX7 are the optional packs. They are possible abbreviations for ‘Comfort’, ‘Technology’, and ‘Luxury’.

All variants may not be available from Day 1 as these are just homologations.

Did I read that right? Mahindra has homologated both AT and MT for MX variants? That would be a decently kitted vehicle for 14L ex-showroom right (assuming Mahindra and their dealers will be interested to sell it)?

I guess going by the training slide, AT is even there in AX 3 variant. Received the below pic from a dealer.

With the details in the training slide, MX is only paired with MT and not AT. Hope Mahindra make an announcement soon with regards to all the options / variants. Its been too long a wait!!

So are the optional packs limited to only the AX7 ? Maybe I am over expecting a bit, but it would be really helpful if features like 360° camera are provided in AX5 even if it means additional cost. However it's a very interesting thing that AX5 petrol AT is rumoured to not have the option of the 7 seater as per these reports. Would there be any logical explanation for that if it is true ? If 7 seater and optional packs are not available in the AX5, and if AT is still available in AX3, suddenly AX3 might subjectively become as VFM as AX5 for some.

Here's another article from CarDekho about the same :

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Have asked the sales folks to confirm on AX5, 7 Seater Automatic Diesel. Awaiting reply.

One question: Are the middle rows fixed or sliding in 7 seater

It doesn't have sliding mechanism but can be reclined.

Nice pics Suresh!

I think there is no Black color. It is a very dark blue, called Midnight Blue.

My limited reactions after sitting in the car for few minutes:
  • Definitely looks very upmarket. Both inside and outside. Except for the logo - I absolutely hated it. I spent few mins understanding how they can be removed/masked out if somebody wants to get rid of it.
  • The stance seemed noticeably lower than the XUV 5OO. Noticed this in an empty car, which means even with a full-house the car will probably not go much lower, which essentially means stiffer ride.
  • Seats felt pretty comfortable. Lots of room. I drive a XUV 5OO and I felt 7OO has more room than the 5OO. Couldn't get into the 3rd row, but it did feel that the 3rd row also had more room.
  • Sound system was blocked. The driver said that if the system is enabled, the drivers don't listen to the instructions on the walkie-talkies. Hence the music system is disabled for all cars, except few. But he claimed that it is very good and there is no need of an after market fitment.
  • Noticed that the pop-out handles are "motorized" for the "L" variant. For the lower variants they are manual. So in lower variants, anybody can pop them out, even when the car is locked. The door won't open, but the handle will hang out. The motorized ones looked cool though.
  • Also found a niggle in the car we sat. The sunroof didn't open completely. It appeared to get stuck in between.
Overall, M&M surely have a winner in their hands. What they need is this car to have as less niggles as possible .

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

My thoughts:

XUV700 really looks good in that blue shade, reminds me of 2015 Urban Blue Baleno, sad that Maruti discontinued that color.

Coming to XUV700, I don't know why Mahindra decided to go with bulb+LED tail light setup. In 2021, a 20L car will look odd with this, even the lowest variant of Swift has all LED tail light!

AdrenoX infotainment system is new and will be full of bugs, hope Mahindra will give regular updates.

Mahindra should have given XUV700 an all black interior, the black+beige combo is not looking that good.

Overall XUV700 is good and with its aggressive pricing, it will give tough competition to 2021 Tata Safari. Considering recent Safari issues, customers will surely go for Mahindra.

Thank you for the insights.

Good to know that you felt more room in the third row. Was seeing contradicting reports on the same. Again would have loved to see motorised pop out handles as a base feature or atleast from AX 5 onwards.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I'm not sure if there was a Freedom Drive organized in Kurnool, but, I happened to catch the convoy on the highway between Gooty and Kurnool yesterday, September 12, 2021. The convoy looked pretty impressive on the highway, and the pictures don't do enough justice to seeing them in person. The cars did appear to enter a dealership in Kurnool in the afternoon.

Here are some pictures my wife managed to click from the co-passenger seat. Pardon the quality of the pictures, but, she just used a mobile camera and shot the pictures while we were cruising at around 80 kmph on the highway.

Moderators, please delete the pictures if the don't meet the quality expectations.
Thank you!
