What configurator you are referring to? Can you please explain how can we check that.

Need to sell my existing 10Y old vehicle, thanks to NGT. Even though my XUV 5OO runs in mint condition.

New Car preferences:
Should be Automatic
Will be buying petrol this time, as I don't want to be in similar situation to sell within 10 years.

Variants where I am confused:
Was more keen to buy AX5 Petrol Automatic 7 seater. However, there is no model that exists like this.
Most likely purchase would be of AX5 Petrol Automatic.

Any suggestions guys ?
I am also in same boat, having 2012 model XUV 500 W8 Diesel variant, and willing to change to XUV700 now.

My reason for change is same as your's, i.e. NGT restrictions in Delhi/NCR, due to which I am forced to change the Cheetah. Otherwise I was pretty satisfied with XUV500 and I was willing to run it for complete 15 years, as it is very well maintained and excellent car till date.

Coming to your current requirement, my two cents are to go for AX7 Petrol Automatic (Luxury or non Luxury is your own preference), having following reasons :
- It's a petrol automatic version (could run for complete 15 years)
- It has 7 seats (could be used as 5/6 seater to accomodate that extra luggage)
- Most importantly it has ADAS, driver drowsiness system, side airbags, TPMS, inbuilt reverse camera etc. These safety features are must in the current era.
- ADAS might help you in North Indian extreme foggy driving conditions during winters

Hope it helps.

Hope that is the case, and people waiting for their pending deliveries get is sooner than actual Customer Promise Date (CPD) by Mahindra.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Has anyone checked the engine oil level of their petrol xuv700 and found it 4-5mm above the maximum mark? I checked the oil level for the first time today and found it high. SA didn't flag it during first service. Wondering whether it's intentional to compensate for excess consumption by the new engine.

Thanks for all the suggestions and we are practically in the same boat

Responses to your Comments:
1. Even AX5 has Petrol Automatic. Only thing is that it doesn't come in 7 Seater option (which we rarely use, but yes its an advantage).
2. Out of all features like ADAS, driver drowsiness system, side airbags, TPMS, inbuilt reverse camera etc >> I found that it is the Reverse Camera that's required. However, the same can be fitted from after market.
Six Airbags is a boon as well but that's not an option in AX5.

ADAS, Driver Drowsiness >> wish to have.

Preferences & Requirements do change with people.

E.g. I am fond of super high end music systems in my cars. Even in my W6, have spent quite a lot on music. Would like something similar in 7OO as well. Had a test drive of AX7 Petrol Automatic and I actually liked the music system in that vehicle.

So, bottom line is that I am still confused on whether to buy AX5 or AX7. Two things are super clear though >> Automatic & Petrol.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

My experience with ADAS

Happy to share that I got my black beauty last Sunday, AX7L D AT. The experience has been exceptional so far, specially since this was a major upgrade for me. I was driving an Alto for last 15 years.

Wanted to share some first hand experience with ADAS for owners awaiting delivery. Existing owners please feel free to share your experience.

Where I find ADAS helpful
ADAS is very helpful on highways. The experience is next level as you only observe keenly while the vehicle does the rest. Combined with lane keep assist for roads with clear lane marking, expect the vehicle to do bulk of the driving. For mileage conscious users, I want to share that I got the highest mileage, upwards of 18kmpl when driving with ADAS set at speed of 80

Where I don’t find ADAS useful
One of my biggest reasons for getting Luxury pack was Stop and Go function where ADAS is able to completely stop the vehicle and start again. I imagined this feature to be very useful for bumper to bumper traffic. However, in my limited experience I found this feature to be totally useless as there is a significant driver involvement during bumper to bumper traffic. There are so many vehicles cutting in specially bikes, you just can’t rely on ADAS

Though there is a polarised view related to looks I am sharing a picture of my beauty standing next to Innova Crysta. I bet you can’t take your eyes off the black beauty

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Guys,
Someone suggested me to try out Hyundai Alcaraz Petrol as well, in comparison to AX5/7 Petrol Automatic.

Anyone of you guys faced this comparison in person before ? If yes, would like to take your valuable inputs in finalizing the product.

Yes I've driven alcazar and test driven 700 too. So I feel i may answer this question. What I feel is that alcazar is a five seater (not even 5+2).
It may have the Hyundai level premium comments on Facebook and YouTube, but the truth is it comes noway near the XUV in most aspects.
If at all, you are inclined towards alcazar because of any reason, please have a look at carens too.
While I'm yet to see it in person, it seems to be a VFM option in comparison to alcazar.

Needless to say , i booked XUV 700 over alcazar.

One more thing, if vitamin m is not a problem , please go for AX7

This is from me despite the fact that Hyundai showroom owner here is known very well to me and I could have easily got a huge discount on alcazar.

I can't get myself to drive at 80 kmph on an empty highway. I've tried it multiple times by engaging the Cruise control on my car: it feels like you're standing still when other cars whizz past. That said your black beauty looks gorgeous!!

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

In the search for our next car, we looked at the XUV700 yesterday. We were greeted by a Midnight Black AX5 at the showroom and quite a looker it was. (Except the front, which was trying-a-bit-too-hard-to-impress as compared to the more mature looking Harrier or Safari, but I understand looks are subjective).

We were quite tempted to make a booking after spending about 15 minutes with the car (not taken a test drive yet). The raising plastic on the front windows, which goes on to join the dash, was the only slightly weird thing is what seemed to a very premium look all round, inside and outside. I asked if the much advertised AX7's ADAS might come to AX5 later as an optional (purchasable) software upgrade. The sales person didn't think it was possible, as the hardware needed for ADAS does not exist in AX5 at all.

Those door handles: I was hesitant to pull the door as the handles looked delicate, but the sales person, to demonstrate that they are built for heavy use, pulled the handles hard & heavy multiple times (almost to the point of abuse). It was good to see Mahindra instill such confidence about its flagship product, in its sales people.

The sales person said that he can try for an expedited 3-month delivery as against the current 5-month waiting period for the petrol AX5 AT. That sounded like an inviting proposition (in comparison to the super long waiting period of AX7 AT).

At 22.23L Bangalore OTR, AX5 Petrol AT seemed to be of a better value as compared to Astor top end AT that we saw (~22L OTR). And totally beyond any comparison with the Carens (~21.4L Petrol 1.4 DCT's OTR) that we checked out after looking at the AX5. Except for that very usable 3rd row space, Carens does not stand a chance in convincing anyone to buy it over the XUV 700.

It is just amazing what Mahindra has done with this car which should a benchmark for the ages to come.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi Team-BHPians,
I had a quick query and hope to hear from fellow members.

Has anyone received AX7 Diesel Automatic XUV700 (non luxury) variant delivery which has been booked in first week of November 2021 (around Diwali week)?
If yes, from which dealer and city?

Thanks in advance

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

The service manger said that engine oil will not be change at 1000 Km. He said that it was old practice and instructions when engine and oil were not so advanced and hence it is not required now. However, if customer insists they can and it will cost them around 4500/-.

Does anybody changed the engine oil after 1000 Km at first service as per the recommendations in some forums?

I have my first service in coming few days and I am still contemplating whether should I change or not. Thanks!

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

^ Engine oils and other fluids can be changed as per schedule, no need to perform additional maintenance and increase the costs.

Can you find our why the oil change costs 4500? what is the breakup of this cost?

Are they using FEO (engine oil) or something else?

Thank you!

The engine oil cost around 3500/- and filter needs to be changed as well. So approximately it would be 4500/- .
