Called the dealer and asked him, he told me that this is a technical glitch and my booking will be terminated.
The sales rep told me that they get a minimum of 5 calls in a day about false bookings and asked to be terminated.

Could this be a ploy by Mahindra to inflate booking numbers and build hype around the product?

A product which is quickly booked in large numbers is seen as a success and attracts more attention and potential buyers.

Thanks for pointing this out, as I thought I was the only one who noticed this. I have a AX5 and it only comes with one charger, unfortunately.

I think Mahindra never intended to provide 2 chargers in AX5 due to variant diffentiation, however some of the initial lots had it, maybe due to parts availability (sort of like some XUVs which have wooden door inserts).

While I don't really mind this, what is actually frustrating is that they have not even provided a 12v outlet at any front location (only one I can find is in the boot area). Seriously who does that in a 20L car which is supposedly a utility vehicle?

Also, adding to the confusion, the second row charger is type C, and charges faster that the type A chargers upfront. What logic was used to determine the type C and type A placement is beyond me

I don't know that for sure. All I know is even if 10% is such cases (which is high) we still have large number bookings. Count out the double bookings too - you still are looking at 35K bookings in total! Oh and by the way, regardless of the numbers, the cash registers must keep ringing...

Anyway, I am getting my car whenever I get - there is not so much "rush" for it

I meant that as a rhetorical question, to highlight the possible tactic that might be getting used.

Yes the booking numbers did turn out to be large regardless.

The rush created by the rush didn't get you to rush with a rush.

Well, looks like the dealer is hell bent on releasing the car and reducing their load. If you genuinely don't want the car, check with friends and family whether they would want the same. Considering how eager the dealer is, they will manage to iron out all issues and deliver the car swiftly.

What if the dealer and buyer both are unable to reach a truce on insurance?
Is it possible to switch the insurance after registration and all formalities?
You can't register / transfer / renew fitness of any vehicle car without a valid insurance. Am getting insurance by myself for the Duster I have booked. The insurance copy has to be shared with the dealer who will have to submit the insurance details to the RTO in order to register. Same thing with FASTag as well, from what I understand.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Quick check to authenticate your cars history

Hi All,

SO after my PDI I was waiting for the Car to reach the dealer from the stockyard. I finished all the payment formalities and got my insurance from outside and gave it to the dealer, He then raised the Invoice.

I had asked the Dealer to do my KYC as early as possible for the car, As my Nexon EV KYC took about a weeks time, and that delay prohibited me from using the connected features of the car. So with that experience, I didnt want the delay in the XUV and asked for it.

I had noted the VIN of the car, So was trying out registering on the App but was not happening as my number was not linked, this morning the phone number got linked and Alas, I can see the entire History of the car!! All the trips the car had till date all available in the Adrenox app, SO i was a bit worried as to why my car was 3 months Old, However I can see that the car was at Chakan plant Mid - end sep, then sometime in Nov it was at Bangalore stock yard ever since and then just yesterday it has come to Dealer. That has cleared all my doubts about the car.. Going for delivery of my New Beast today!!!

So folks who go for PDI, can always ask for this Location history to be shown to them by connecting a laptop, So should anyone have a doubt about their car like I did, You can use this info, Of course at the time OF PDI you cannot use adrenox app but have to ask them to plug in the laptop and pull out the info as the car is already logging all the Info from its birth. Hope this helps, few screen shots for your reference..

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi Folks,

Anyone here seen the MX variant in flesh? I have tried few dealers in Gurgaon and Delhi, but none of them have the MX variant for test drive.

I want to test the driveability of the lower tuned 155 PS engine and also look at the interiors in person.

Any pointers from the group will be helpful.

Thanks

I would have bought it myself for my wife, if it had push button start. It is non negotiable for her. I have checked with couple of buddies too. Moreover, was feeling guilty as I was sub consciously had a feeling of robbing someone else's choice.

Called up the SA and asked him to cancel my booking and allot it to the next in line.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Finally, took a long test drive of XUV700- AX7L D AT today. Was requesting the dealership for the last 2 months for the same. They told the limit is 5 kms but convinced the SA for highway run ( hosur road) and she obliged. Here are few of my observations:
  1. Best place to enjoy the car is via the drivers seat. You get a commanding view of the bonnet and the road.
  2. The car just wraps you around itself. You will forget its a bulky SUV.
  3. Driving pleasure is awesome. Coming from a sedan, i dint feel any difficulty adjusting to it. No feeling of driving an SUV here.
  4. AT is the automatic choice if most of the driving is in the city. Mainly in cities like Bangalore, your left leg will be thanking you
  5. The car just sprints the moment you floor the pedal. You will not know and you will be cruising at triple digit speeds.
  6. Breaking is adequate. You will have confidence knowing the vehicle will stop within the distance you thought. No nose diving and all.
  7. Suspension is awesome. I purposefully went over bad patches, speed breakers and what not, and the car just glided over it. Though there is a vertical movement in the 2nd row, it is still far better than other cars. The car handles itself perfectly.
  8. The lane keep assist is an irritant. It is on by default and you have to turn if off ( the SA told you cannot turn it off but i don't believe it) to enjoy the car. not that its intrusive. It will start functioning the moment it notices lane markings and will gently nudge the steering if you deviate from your lane. You can always override it by moving the steering your way, i even changed lanes when it was nudging me . Once I even got the message to hold the steering even though i hadn't moved my hand off of it( glitch in the software ? ).
  9. Wireless charging works good. Inquired about the 2 USB ports on top of the wireless charging and was told they will remain in the production vehicle also. Not sure if it will only be for AX7L or for lower variants also.
  10. Tested Android auto and my nephew had trouble connecting his Galaxy flip phone to the car. Might be coz its still a test vehicle ( from the initial batch ?) but was promised that it will works properly when the car is delivered. Was even told that mahindra will send a technician home to make sure all these features work and to explain them to us.
  11. 2nd Row has adequate leg and head room. I am 6.2 and my nephew ( 5.11) had no issues sitting behind the drivers seat. Although leg room will be a problem if i push the drivers seat to its maximum position.
  12. AC works like a charm. Car cools very fast. Mainly the knees for the 2nd row people as the AC hits their knees directly. Even the 3rd row is getting chilled because of the blowers there.
  13. No claustrophobic feeling at all. Car has ample light coming in, mainly with the big side windows and the sunroof. Will be missing sunblinds though. They were needed here.
  14. Sunroof is awesome. Working fine via the manual controls.
  15. Alexa is still a pain to manage. Tried multiple times to have her open the sunroof/skyroof but it failed. I guess not as smooth as the one we use at home.
  16. Sound system is very good.vocals are very crisp and clear but i felt the bass is less even when it was set to its max setting. Felt safari has a better Bass.Bluetooth connectivity is good
  17. 3rd row seating is ok. My nephew felt comfortable ( was not expecting this). I guess shorter distance travel will be fine, need to keep an eye option for speed breakers though as your head will hit the roof for sure.
  18. Seating comfort is very good. Ventilated seats would have been icing on the cake.
  19. 360 degree camera is a boon. Mainly for people like me who are coming from a sedan. must need for a car this size. Works fine also. Additionally blind spot detection is also very useful mainly for taking u-turns. both features worked perfectly. Collision warning also worked fine. Couldn't test the cruise control feature though.
  20. Mahindra SA's have a lot to learn. Even though they were polite but knowledge of basic car features are expected of them.
  21. Lastly i was told the delivery date which i received in my mail ( 7th feb) is to be followed and not the one updated in their site ( which is 7th-17th march). Hoping i will get it in Feb. Fingers crossed

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I got an update from my dealer who shared the performa invoice today and mentioned the car would be delivered by month end. Cost break up for the AX7L AT P is as given below.

ex showroom - 2098998
TCS - 20990
Insurance - 95000
Registration - 214530
Hypothecation - 1500
Incidental - 9090
Recommended Acc - 25000
4th year warranty - 18407
Total - 24.8L

My question to anyone who has experience in recent purchase of XUV700 is that out of the above which all are mandatory. I have quotes of of 65-73K from my insurance agent and I have asked him to share copy of the same so I can share the same with dealer to either match or I would purchase externally at the time of final invoicing and share with dealer for registration.

I would not be paying for any of the recommended accessories as I would get the same from outside shops if needed. 4th year warranty does make sense as I plan to keep vehicle for a long time.

I plan to also not transfer any amount until PDI is done on the vehicle and then negotiate on the incidental charges and insurance. At what point can I ask dealer to share vin of the allotted vehicle and start KYC process for adrenox and possibly know about the manufacturing date of the vehicle?

Actually my question was that whether we can surrender an insurance policy within few days of purchase and change it to some other insurance provider?
This is for a case where the dealer is adamant for taking insurance from him.

Can we get car insurance via him and after RTO registration and delivery of car , can we change the insurance provider??
Thanks in advance

Yes you can, you will get partial refund according to the remaining days. But I'm not aware of the exact process for this. I think you will have to procure a new policy before cancelling existing one. Best to call any insurance broker to know the procedure. In meantime check this link: https://www.acko.com/how-to-cancel-a...-get-a-refund/

Insurance from outside will cost you between 65-75k even with all the add-ons. Do make sure you opt for Zero Dep and RTI covers. I got mine done from HDFC Ergo for 74k with all possible covers in addition to the ones mentioned before. In my case, dealer was candid enough to admit that they cannot match outside quote, so I went ahead and got it done myself; then shared the policy copy with the dealer for RTO formalities. Incidental charges are illegal and put up a strong stand against paying this. Essential accessories is just a ploy of fleecing a customer, tell the dealer upfront if you don't want any accessories. As for extended warranty, the dealer informed me of a 4th + 5th year package costing 26k, instead of just the 4th year for 18k; enquire about this as it works out economical.

Dealers generally share the VIN number once an initial instalment of payment is transfered from your end. You can even note this down during PDI yourself. Ideally you shouldn't give them a penny unless PDI is satisfactory.
