Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

I am looking to buy Petrol 1.5 Turbo version. Unable to find milage numbers on the petrol version as Showroom guys themselves doubtfully says 8-9KM in city.

I hope some owner of 1.5 Trubo petrol can confirm the numbers.

If it is as bad 8-9 KM I will buy Diesel version , and compromise on Noise and Vibrations.

The Mileage numbers depend on the traffic and city.
I have a diesel automatic and I get 8 kmpl in peak Bangalore traffic.

The turbo petrol should also have a similar or a little worse number in the same traffic conditions.

Opps! Thats red flag! Petrol can then be 5-6 KMPL

How is the Noise/Vibrations on Diesel, do you feel cabin well insulated ?

The cabin feels well insulated until 80 kmph and after that a bit of road noise starts creeping in. But the speakers keep you entertained and moves your concentration away from the noise.

The noise and vibrations are also well controlled.

I drive a Alacazar signature diesel Automatic in Bangalore. My drive is 27kms each way in the worst possible BLR traffic. So total of 55Kms every day crossing Silk board - ORR-Marathahalli-Whitefield and back.

I consistently get 10kmpl in traffic. This is tankful-tankful method, not the value shown in the MID. I do not switch off the engine at signals.
On the highway 20+kmpl is easy to get.

The mileage highly depends on how you drive.
But Hyundai petrols are known to be guzzlers.

The noise insulation is among the best in business. Try it out at the showroom.

Blame it on the abusive Bangalore traffic gentlemen On my off peak suburban traffic, I get 17-19 tank-to-tank. Which unless I drive low-mid 80s, I can't achieve beyond on a highway drive.

One south Bangalore drive, IFE on Drive Info never rose beyond 9 till I climbed the Electronics city elevated corridor. For that matter it barely touched 15 when I reached Hosur

JK UX Royales are among the noisiest tyres around, experienced the R16 version of them in S-Cross. They are hardly heard with windows rolled up on the Alcazar.

When I had given the Innova for its 2nd service, we were to rotate the tyres, balance and align it. I had specifically asked the service advisor to make me speak to the alignment balancing person in the workshop and explained to him how I want the balancing to be done with a step by step guide as to what I was expecting just to be sure.
Thanks for the interesting information, I wasn't aware of this. BTW if we do the alignment & balancing from authorized dealers that too during the servicing, I believe they would know and do it already ?
Let me google around the dynamic balancing and see if I can talk to the service advisor if something needs to be corrected.

They should ideally, but many specialised alignment balancing shops in Mumbai too I have visited don't know this, so maybe they don't know, there is a chance.

People who usually balance in service station are mechanics who's idea of a perfect balance is 0 on the machine. If its statically balanced and it shows 0 or if its dynamically balanced but with weights put at different locations on the same plane because the machine asked for it or its a 10-15 grams out of balance which most think is okay, depends on the service station folk and his understanding of what balancing is.

An update.

I decided NOT to visit Popular Hyundai, Cochin as I wasn’t confident of them solving my issue. I got a sense, from my last visit, that they don’t care for you now as I’ve taken SOT SUPER.

So I went to New Bharath Tyres and got my alignment checked and it was confirmed that the alignment was completely off. In fact, they were surprised that Hyundai was unable to rectify it. Got it corrected and drove to Trivandrum and I am happy to report that the vibration issue is completely solved.

Absolutely loving the calm nature of the car now.

Writing this update from the Popular Hyundai, Trivandrum for another issue that popped up today.

While driving to office today, I saw the Engine light blink. I had driven the car for a few KMs with the DPF warning light yesterday. While the DPF warning went, this engine light was still blinking. Took it to Popular Hyundai, Trivandrum and he connected some tablet and found that the DPF warning, though cleared from the Driver display, was still there as a ‘history’ somewhere in the car software. He cleared the history and problem was solved again. It was a 5-minute job.

Each and every problem I had till date, except for the wiper, is now resolved.

Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

One-Touch Indicator resets in Hyundai Alcazar Signature(O) DCT

I have recently upgraded from the Hyundai Creta SX(O) IVT (2020 Petrol) to the Hyundai Alcazar Signature(O) DCT (Petrol). I have observed this strange issue with the software system that the Hyundai service center couldn't understand to resolve. Their backend support also claimed that nobody reported this issue.

Problem Area:
One-Touch indicator Flash (Settings -> Vehicle -> Lights -> One-touch indicator)
There are 3 options here - 7 flashes, 5 flashes, and 3 flashes.

I want it fixed at 7 flashes, but it resets to 3 automatically. It always happens after a cooling period of 3-4 hours, not during short breaks of engine off/on. Every morning I have to set this option to 7 flashes and again in the evening while returning from the office.

I have used the same option in Creta (2020) and never faced this problem because it never used to reset. But with the same AV system, the Alcazar has this problem.

The Hyundai service center engineer asked me to keep the car at their service center for at least 24 hours to check this problem. They will observe the witness the issue themselves and then do some troubleshooting by switching some fuses or other things. I am not sure about this kind of blind troubleshooting because they do not sound convincing to solve the problem for me.

All Alcazar owners - Please let me know if you have observed the above issue.

This is how it has always behaved in my Alcazar. The setting is not persistent.

Good to see that its resolved. May be I will also give it a try by visiting other Tyre dealers for alignment.

Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

I have recently started to face a very bad rattling from dashboard, it’s to a point where I really feel like selling the car.
I will attach a clip of it.

After 2.5 years of ownership, the centre console rattling and noise has still not grown on me and was already unbearable and now this absolutely made my experience horrible.
Never in my life I am getting a car with such poor quality of hard plastics.
I took the car to service centre, I was unable to recreate the problem and now after thorough analysis I have come to conclusion that after driving the car for approx 20-30kms, the rattling starts and it’s mainly when I accelerate. They did the coolbox cleaning, because they thought it might be due to that. More over they removed the wipers and all and now I m facing an issue with wiper fluid, the pressure of washer is now close to null, it just throws a few droplets and stops on each press. I am out of my state to attend a wedding, and my car is parked in open space, the windshield is bound to get dirty, poor service by HYUNDAI, not naming the service centre because I don’t mean to defame them but definitely gonna cut my ties with them.

Please share your input on rattling issue guys. I think it might be due to the foam in between front glass has deviated from its place.

Facing such irritating noises every now and then in 20+L car is a major turn off.

Please share your input guys, and should I also get the tapping done on centre console? I have heard it does help.

I am definitely not an expert, but that sounds like a crackling sound from the speaker rather than a rattle. Not sure if this is right, but sounded so to me.

Re: Hyundai Alcazar Review

Hello,

I have Signature 1.5 D AT bought in Jan 2023. Run around 17k kms till now, I hear the exact same crackling sound but only when talking over Bluetooth and never anytime else (listening to music over Bluetooth is fine, no problems there). I am reasonably sure it is the central speaker which is making the noise, I plan on getting it checked in next scheduled maintenance.
