Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

I was finally able to solve my sunroof rattle - this rattle had been present since last 3 years but was always solved for a few days by the dealership with their standard process - lubrication, tape application, etc.

Finally, as the warranty was about to end - i pressed them hard to solve it - they didn't and then went on to say that this is a standard operating noise from all vehicles of this age/mileage - and showed me another 330i - which had even worse noise in it. I finally gave it up with BMW and let the warranty lapse.

I then found a few threads on bimmerpost etc. forums - that such noise can be solved by inserted a plastic/metal piece at the edges - right where the sunroof frame is bound to the roofliner - I then tried this out - by inserted a metal buffer right at this point. To my astonishment - all the noise was gone. The one source of joy killing was gone from my BMW G20 330i!

My car has been rattle free since last 2 months or so and has been giving me ever more joy.

Please share your joy by sharing the specific links and pictures from your 3. Mine are more squeaky but just as irritating.

I did buy the Iconic Sounds package and the car does sound a bit sporty on the inside, even in comfort mode. I have not been able to push the car in sports mode as it was during traffic hours but I definitely do sense a pleasing change with the iconic mode turned on. Artificial MPE for cabin satisfaction so to speak, for someone who doesn't want to risk voiding warranty.

Hi Aj_Agg! Can you please let me know where you accessed this? I tried it through the My BMW app and all I get is a message saying "Your vehicle is fully equipped!" Is this restricted to the M Sport Pro models by any chance?

https://www.bmw.in/en/shop/ls/cp/connected-drive

Try this link and login with your BMW ID. It automatically shows only the features that are available (already activated with car purchase or available for purchase) for the car/model you own.

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

Hey BHPians, I am having a strange noise coming from my AC/Dashboard Area.
When the AC is running, sometimes I can hear a noise which stays for a second or 2 before disappearing.
Sometimes I can hear the prolonged noise when I turn the car off. I have not gone to BMW service station yet, but visited a known luxury car service station ( just to get the basic idea ), he said that this is coming from actuator motors and nothing serious. It needs lubrication but for that, Dashboard has to be removed & which I am not convinced.
I am uploading a video here where once I switched off the car, the noise is there for a good 5-6 seconds duration.

Please advise what to do & if anyone has faced similar issues.

How did you buy iconic sound sports? Did you have 330Li M sport pro?
I’m unable to buy it

Yes, I have the 330Li M Sport Pro model. It's surprising that they have not made it available for 330Li or is it just a glitch on the website? I think you should send them an email and see if that's the case.

The "Connected Drive" app in now available on the idrive itself. On your car's head unit, inside Menu.

Look out for the signs of updates being downloaded on your idrive, like hazard light switch and the head light switch panel still glowing minutes after switching off the ignition and locking the car.

I too have a 330li M sport pro but I'm unable to buy it. Sending an email to them.

I'm sure you've added your vehicle to your profile but thought I'll still ask. If you've added it, the Connected Drive Store after logging in should look like this. If your car isn't reflecting on the store screen, you need to ask them to fix that. Attaching a SS for your reference. Hope this helps.

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

All, need advise.

Sunday night had an incident where a fairly big screw penetrated the rear left tyre (255/40/18). I realised it only when the tyre pressure reduced to 24 after the car being parked for an hour.

I was surprised to see the message on Checks as ‘Low air pressure. Do not Drive’. Now since this is my first experience with RFT, I was expecting a message like drive for 80 kms maximum at some maximum speed, but ‘Do not Drive’ came as a surprise. Is it normal for cars with RFT / BMW?

Nevertheless since it was late night, I did a mistake of fixing it from a local guy who used the normal strip and fixed it without removing the wheels. However I realised the air was still leaking slowly with TPMS showing 4 PSI down in less than 24 hours.

Took it to Cherry Tyre Park closer to my house and after inspecting they said I need to go for Mushroom patch, as the original guy made the hole slightly bigger. They fixed it and so far no air leakage.

My questions -

1) Is it normal to have the onboard message Do Not Drive for low pressure?
2) Is there anything that I need to worry about in mushroom puncture? It’s not on sidewall or there aren’t any cuts. Most of the articles that I read (including Team BHP) were in favour of mushroom patch.

PS - I did not take Insurance for tyres / wheels as it was costing 34k for 1 year.

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

The error is normal and please goto Madhus to get a Mushroom patch done. Things go down south very easy if the patch is not done right. If you are in North Bangalore, they just opened an outlet yesterday on Thanisandra main road.

When did you buy your 3GL? I thought BMW India offered the first year BMW Secure insurance package as a compliment, i.e. free.

I was 'lucky' enough to use this complimentary feature: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-...ml#post5046382 (Run-Flat Tyres : All you need to know)

Sure, have plans of taking it for wheel alignment and balancing to Madhus or CarMed. Wilson Garden is closer to my home. By looks of it, it’s fine and considering the reputation of Cherry Tyres, hope it’s done well. But will get it checked. Thanks.

I bought it last September. After a month BMW called me for the insurance, but considering my running is less did not opt for it.
