After a few back and forth he now says he'll get my car to the showroom the weekend after next. He mentioned about the feedback form that BMW would send and I have told him that the kindest I can be is to refrain from giving any feedback till the issue is resolved.
Give a rating of 1 for online survey form and see how workshop stance changes. The rating directly affects the service advisor.

Only way to resolve the rattle issue is to take either workshop mechanic or service advisor for a test drive with you. So they can understand your view and resolve it.

Really surprising that the SA didn't insist for a test drive to understand the rattle even though you came yourself to hand over the car.

Shows the lackadaisical attitude.

Hope your issues have been resolved. If not, can you describe what kind of rattles you hear and from where? As mentioned by @itwasntme, I had severe creaking issues from my G20 sunroof too. Despite multiple visits and test drives at KUN. But finally a simply piece of tape fixed it (he even proudly showed me it was BMW branded tape). I had to insist on them taking those drives with me.

Definitely give them a lower rating, and send BMW India an email. That did the trick for me (unrelated issue).

Sadly that test drive has ruined other cars for me. I am not sure I can now willingly buy a 3GL or the A4 with the knowledge that BMW makes such a beautiful ride as the normal 3 series. The drive was phenomenal. I am sad that BMW does not offer the normal 3 for people who just want a front seat driving experience.
Go for the 340i. It’s one hell of a car. Though I find a lot of folks saying a 340i is too firm and a 330Li too soft. Hope you find that balance in your next car.

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

All,
Has anyone tried to update the offline maps from MapMyIndia? While I invariably use GMaps for city commutes, offline maps are used in inter-city travel when ever-changing traffic is not that big a concern and constant AA connection drains your phone battery. Given progress in India's highways, an updated maps software comes in handy

The sad thing is BMW doesn't seem to have given any offline map updates for India. So, was wondering if any of you have tried updating by buying the map software.

Thanks in advance

You could get a good deal on a low mileage well maintained 330 if it ticks all your boxes.

I personally dropped the 3 series GL all together. It’s a good car to drive but the missing features and the struggle to patch them just didn’t make sense at the price point. Namely

1. Lumbar support
2. Side and back blinds
3. 360 cams
4. Small boot
5. Uncomfortable seats

While all of this is relative, I also found that the quality of interiors was many notches down not only compared to other brands like Audi and Mercedes but also compared to older BMWs. For me, while driving pleasure is extremely important, it goes beyond just engine and handling. It needs to feel like a package that you can live with for the next 5-7 years and feel good about each drive and that requires the peripherals.

Good luck

Re: BMW 3-Series Gran Limousine Review (Long Wheelbase)

How is the ground clearance of the 330 Li? Does it scrape the bumpers with 4 people and fully loaded boot? During test drive, the sales person said that BMW does not reveal the ground clearance of their cars. I currently drive a Civic ZX 2019 and it does have a big problem with scraping

BMW does reveal the ground clearance.
Your SA is unaware of the exact figure.
It is not going to scrape when fully loaded

It’s not too bad. Definitely way better than the Honda civic or even the new C class.

Just completed fixing the body coloured bumpers. Attaching pictures. They look (subjectively) better to me now.

Do you mean the black color of diffuser ? Where did you get it done from and how much did it cost you.

Yes. I meant the diffuser. I found the body coloured bumpers to be too odd on the 3GL. I wanted something like the regular 3 that is sold overseas. Basically like the M340i.

I was evaluating options such as wraps. However this seemed most appropriate. I also added the spoiler and pretty happy with how this turned out.

Just the diffuser costed me around 12k and I got it done at Infinity in Turbhe.

I picked up the spoiler for around 6k, which was a good deal according to me.

Looks like they do have a free map update. I got a call from Deutschen stating so (they called, quoting my mail to BMW India). The catch is you need to get your vehicle there to get the update done.
