Don't think of either the A4 or the Superb as viable options. I feel it will be more of the same?

Totally open to Diesel. Will significantly reduce my running costs as right now I am getting a 8KMPL on Shell V Power at approx. 120/Ltr.

Not thrilled about used cars at this point.
Superb is more spacious and with loads of leg room your family will love it.

Audi will feel a step up in terms of luxury and the way entire package has been put together is very good.

Service cost differs between both the brands. Skoda is relatively easier on pocket.

Even from driving dynamics stand point there will be scuttle differences.
  • Jeep compass diesel is my suggestion.
Request your to post the requirement in a different thread to get more response.

Edit: As earlier post also pointed out Toyota Camry as an alternate option. You already have Toyota in family, so would be more of personnel choice to add one more in garage.

Test drive and see what connects with you and also meets maximum of your requirements.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

So it is safe to assume that this has already flopped in the market? I have seen just one on the road in the last few months in Hyderabad. Not sure about other cities. Whenever I discuss it with friends they all say they would NEVER buy a Citroën. Weird because I quite like the flair and style of Citroëns. Don't understand the sense in launching this model first. Perhaps would have made more sense to launch the C3 first.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

Took a longish test drive of the C5 Aircross yesterday, both on potholed Mumbai roads as well as a clean stretch where I could speed up a bit. The ride and handling of the car is excellent, it soaked up the potholes as well as the small speed bumps with ease. Braking is excellent too and stops in a straight line with absolutely no drama. Body roll is well controlled too. The engine and gearbox combination is fantastic and I felt the pull more than adequate in Sports mode. In economy mode, the power delivery is much linear considering it is tuned much towards fuel economy (they claim 18+ kmpl in this mode). Overall, I totally agree with GTO's observations and this is a very comfortable and competent car.

Coming to the dealership, at Mumbai, it is now managed by PPS Motors (Bangalore is managed by them too). I had a very good experience at the dealership, they spent quality time both in the showroom and during the test drives. The showroom experience was nice with lot of digitization and virtual shows. A cafe is also coming up soon. I was also given a gift. They informed that the service center is also ready. They've also invested in at-home service facility where they claimed they have a vehicle fully equipped to service the C5, only missing ability is to lift the car by the mobile service van.

Now for the most important discussion, the pricing... there is absolutely no reduction in the printed pricing sheet they shared (DM me if you need the pdf). Only on the insurance component, they'll match it if one provides details. With extended warranty (5year), the on-road Mumbai price is 40 big ones. A senior manager at the showroom explained that the car is CKD and Citroen is operating on a very tight margin as they want to build up the brand. I was assured time and again that Citroen has a long history and they are fully committed and invested into the Indian market.

Would I buy it? Certainly if it was priced sensibly. I feel this competent product is pricier by 4-5 lakhs. As GTO had observed, maybe introductory pricing should have been applied as a marketing strategy. Overall, I feel this is a missed opportunity for Citroen, Good Luck to them !

The gift ... loved their gesture

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

My neighbour is getting the C5 Aircross for his parents and the Citroen team had come visiting. Since they can't have a presence everywhere, being a new entrant - they're coming to the customer. So the ribbon cutting happens at the Customer's place and servicing too. Yes you read that right. Citroen gets the 'service team' to your door step and the mobile unit will do the needful. This has really struck a chord in my friend since his parents don't want to step out for 'service duties'. Coming to the car, boy is this car a load of fun!!! The diesel engine is perfectly mated to the gear box and is eager to rev. The ride was the smoothest ever. Cabin quality is great, and so is the seat comfort. Everything is so 'posh'. A small detail; the spare wheel lid flips to have a 'pet tray', on which my doggo can lie down. This material doesn't scratch. How cool is that! I have loved every bit of the TD experience!

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

Got this email from PPS Citroen, Bangalore. They are offering discounts up to 1 lakh on Shine variant depending on the color. There is also a bit of posturing with 'grab this offer now' before the price increase from October 1st. Ironically, we have been trying to get a test drive for over a month to no avail.

The powers that be are watching! My brother-in-law for who we are looking for the car got 3 calls from Citroen today. It seems this post was read and got escalated to their senior management. They apologized for the delay and have assured test drive next week once he is back in Bangalore. Funny enough he wasn't aware that i posted this on the forum and denied any knowledge of this being discussed on TeamBHP. I should have given him a head's up because they specifically quizzed him about the email about the offered discount making it to the forum.

I had specifically forwarded this link to the senior management of PPS Mumbai which may have caught their attention. I was trying to make a case that discount is being offered in Bangalore but not in Mumbai. The Mumbai dealer did mention discounts on Feel variant which I was not interested in.

Did your neighbour went to the booking and delivery. What was the final offer?

French knows how to kill a good product. C3 will not be any different. After Ford question were on Volkswagen but Citroen seems in the race to cross quitting line. Was enquiring on the C5 prices. Price are on upward trajectory. Competing with BMW and Toyota on the frequency of price increase?

First increase in 01-Aug Rs 40,000/- Second increase in 01-October Rs 50,000/- Current ex-showroom price for Shine: 32,80,000 There are discounts, which only offsets the price increase. With onroad pricing at 38,00,000/- why will anyone pick this? After appearing in shortlist, it only went back to it's old way. RIP

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

I am yet to come across a C5 on the road. How the dealers are operating? It’s very scary. No one should come to a market with just a single model to sell.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

Updated Mumbai price list attached. I have already test driven the C5 Aircross and came out impressed with the ride quality and the car, but I had rejected based on the price. The dealership has the audacity to send this updated price and ask whether I'm booking PRICE LIST SHINE 011021.pdf

Current discount are at tune of 1.2 lakhs on ex showroom. This offer is not valid for black colour. There is also an bank offer of 5.5% fixed interest with Kotak bank.

Took a test drive. Engine is a delight in city traffic. Didn’t feel any turbo lag. Ample power available on tap for quick over takes. We have quite a few bumps in our society, suspension was delight. Size is perfect for us. Missed out on ventilated seats. Seating position was spot on. I am not a audiophile speaker were just ok. Infotainment isn’t intuitive and lack of physical buttons for AC does not help.

I am 90% on Apple car play so there is nothing much to loose.

ADAS is one more feature that is fast catching up and lot of new generation products at lower price point have started to offer it.

Internationally new C5 looks great and that is the version Citroen should have bought to the market. Understandable it is easier said than done, as company was suppose to introduce product a year earlier and pandemic had pushed the dates.

It ticks all the boxes for a very solid built SUV and perfect size to navigate in city traffic. Diesel is a plus. Not many gimmicks. Full size spare wheel. Fits a nuclear family.

Better half who is not interested in what the next car would be also came down running to check once she got a glimpse of it.

It will be talk of her chatting group today: Few folks in society who saw the vehicle already started enquiries, which car was that.

There is certain exclusivity here. Same was noticed on roads. Quite a few pillion riders turning heads to check the vehicle.

Sales advisor said until now they have sold 45 units in TS and AP. No way to verify this.

Have seen only 1 in our area. It grabs attention.

There is one more dealership opening in Andhra Pradesh (Vizag) and another at other end of Hyderabad city (L.B Nagar).

Guess it is on expansion path and getting ready for C3 release.

It has my heart, brilliant engineering & solid built albeit enough bickering on the price point. If Citroen can just price it right story would have been different on the wall.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

From what I understand , that the C5 in India is indeed the global C5 ; however the Indian C3 is not the global/EU one, but some cut price small hatch of a different platform with C3 body dressing.

Re: Citroen C5 Aircross Review

Does anyone have any information on how many C5s Citroen is assembling in India and how many are sold each month?

Only info I could find was "Citroen has sold a total of 473 units of the C5 flagship till end-September", courtesy Autocar
