Re: Review: BMW 330i (G20)

I put in 35 in all four. I think anything higher might make the ride bouncier.

Re: Review: BMW 330i (G20)

Chugging along and at 28k kms in 2.5 years. Completed several road trips in the 330i. Kolkata to Hyderabad and then again once to Bengaluru, then Bengaluru to Goa followed by us moving to Mumbai some months back. Even did a recent Mum-Hyd-Mum trip for work. I seem to keep finding reasons to hit the highways.
Tyres, front brake pads and all 4 disc brakes still going strong. The exhaust also keeps getting throatier as more kms are put on the odo, or it could just be me trying to manifest something there . Recently got the rear brake pads changed as per the service requirement display at 26k.
After the recent visit to the service center, I’ve noticed a few things. It could be just my paranoia though so please bear with me. Noticed a whirring sound recently on one of the highway trips coming from the rear, and it’s only on asphalt roads at certain speeds. Not sure whether it’s tyre noise or a wheel bearing issue. Anyone else noticed it? Also when coming to a stop, with my foot on the brake and when I shift to neutral, I hear a slight sound coming from the rear as if something is disengaging maybe, the sound is not there if parking brake is applied first before shifting to neutral. Not sure if this is normal, would be good to hear from others if they’ve experienced anything similar.

Congratulations on your prized possession! It is a beautiful machine.

One small piece of information I thought to pass on - beemer is a term for BMW Motorrad (motorcycles) while bimmer is for their cars (please excuse the grammar Nazi in me )

Thank you. Appreciate the correction. Will keep “bimmer” in mind.

Re: Review: BMW 330i (G20)

Should translate into the G28 Gran Limousine range too I imagine:

Apart from the interior tweaks, the 48v hybrid system is the biggest change to the B48 engine.

Re: Review: BMW 330i (G20)

Two updates/queries on my 330i.

1. Rat chewed the wire which connects to the bonnet lock sensor. Sent to KUN workshop on Bengaluru airport road and they charged 5748/- to fix it. What is shocking is that the spare part was of mere 391/-. Is this acceptable? I talked to the service centre head twice but could not get any reduction in the bill. I had sent this to authorized service centre as the car is under warranty. He is very nice and helpful to me otherwise. Here is the screenshot of bill (ignore 1180/- as the pickup/drop charges, which as per KUN, they have started charging from July).

2. When the car is returned, it has moisture inside both the headlights. I have never really noticed this earlier. SA told me that this is there in all the cars & when the LEDs are switched on, this is vanish with to heat. Is this normal? I would think moisture inside the LED units is not normal and if that is the case, it should be eligible for replacement under warranty.

The worst part of it all is that I am not taking out my BMW due to ongoing RTO drive in Bengaluru against the out of state cars. All this damage happened while the car was just parked at home in a covered garage

Re: Review: BMW 330i (G20)

2 years with the BMW 330i M Sport (Nyx) and I scraped the left side of the car.

Before diving into the details, a little back story.
I had flown into town 8 hours before the incident after spending twelve days in Japan spotting some amazing JDM cars and indulging in all the delicious food. My parents were done with the "bland" food of Japan and wanted to dip their tastebuds in authentic Indian food. Bengaluru in the monsoon is so beautiful and the clouds poured down right as we were driving to a restaurant in Indiranagar. All cozy with the AC on the sweet spot setting, car was in Comfort mode and traffic as usual, peaking (it was a Monday evening).
The event -

We decided to park the car and walk to our destination, as I was driving to park the car, the rain got torrential, and the visibility was dropping, turned the fog lamps on while keeping the headlight on the low beam mode since we are inside the city. The parking was off the main road, and I was cautious giving my energy level and visibility, was driving slowly to check for parking.
Two SUVs (Kodiaq and Nexon) with their high beams completely blinded me as I was taking a left turn and I assume the second car had an aftermarket bulb of some sort which made it worse and blinded me for few seconds. Next thing I hear is an impact on the left and dad telling me we scraped a rock. Drove into the parking space and parked the car, got out in worry to check if I did a lot of damage and... my heart sank when I saw what my stupidity had caused. (I take responsibility for the scrape despite being blinded by high beams, I should have been more aware of the situations and maybe gone even more slower?)

The next day I closely inspect the situation, the PPF took majority of the damage and only spot correction or "Partial Repainting" as invoiced from BMW was required on the front left, rear left doors and a full repainting on the left side skirts. On it went to Deutsche Motoren for 8-9 days (awfully long time for very minimal work, I may be wrong)
Attaching pictures of the damage, apologies for the angle.

Post the 2nd Year service and the repainting from BMW Deutsche Motoren.

TL: DR - Scraped the lower left of the car and got it repainted. PPF took the bulk of the damage.

BMW 3 Series - Pre-owned | Looking for guidance

Hi all,

I am considering buying a BMW 3 series 2020+ model, but I am confused by the options available. I am hoping for some advice.

My current driving is about 20 km one way to work and out-of-state travel maybe once every three months.
I think I have a preference for the 330i M Sport (which is sparingly available), however there are plenty of 320Ds on the market.

In terms of driveability, I gather the Petrol is better, is that accurate?
Also, if I want to install a custom exhaust (a low priority), it's only possible on the Petrol.
Are there any other factors to consider and is one better than the other in any way?

I currently own a XUV500, and a Thar as the second car.

Footnote: I happened to look at a mint-condition 2022 Mercedes C200, which is an absolute beauty, but my heart still pulls towards a BMW.
Is that a mistake?
Should I also consider the C200 or any other vehicle?

How much did the repaint cost you? And did you claim insurance?

I have seen condensation in the headlights of other 3 series’ including mine. This is said to be normal since there is some mechanism to allow for heat to escape from these LED headlights, hence it’s not a fully sealed unit and vapour formation is said to be normal. You can also find information on the same on bimmerpost and reddit.

Wow, what an "Us bro" moment. I am in the same exact situation and with the same dilemma.

Looking for a G20, >2020 330i/320d with a low mileage odo. Considering this will be my primary car replacing the Virtus TSI AT, while keeping a Thar as a second car.

I was contemplating a 2020 520d Luxury line with only 10800km on the Odo, but it turns out there is absolutely no way to fit in my parking.

My run is quite more like around 50-60kms a day easily and so I am more inclined towards the 320d. But had my run been limited, the 330i would be a no-brainer. I have still not ruled it out but I am finding it difficult to find suitable options for me.

Can anyone please share any 320d that you found and that would be worth considering? Also, what do you think should be the adequate budget for either? My budget is around 40L.

Any input by owners of these cars would be much appreciated.

Re: Review: BMW 330i (G20)

Question if anyone is aware -

What is the difference between the 330i & 330i M Sport? (2021)
I am looking at an M Sport, but it doesn't seem to have the M kit installed.
Wondering what I should look for or is missing.

Thanks

Steering wheel, bumper design, headlight - fog lights, music system speakers are some differences on top of my mind.

I think you're seeing a Sport variant (like mine), rather than a M Sport. Refer to the attached 2020 brochure, and carefully tick off what is there and not there.

Thanks @itwasntme.
The RC book says 330i M Sport.
I am guessing the chrome grille threw me off a bit as I was expecting a black one.
Taking the car to the service center for a diagnostic check on Thursday.
