They are quoting Rs.19k and willing to keep Hard Top and compensate for the Hard Top as and when they get a customer for it. For HT they say I can get around 20-25k.

Factory fit is factory fit, nothing comes close.

The Thar's Convertible soft-top is brilliantly engineered. Takes ~10 minutes to open, max 15 to put back. No water leakages in the monsoon. I have opened & closed it 30 times and there is no wear & tear seen on it. The convertible top mechanism still works like a charm. There is flapping at speed, but it is controllable via an aftermarket hack (check my ownership review).

I doubt any aftermarket solution will come close to this. Although I love the many Bimbra parts in my car and am a fan of the brand, when it comes to the Convertible soft-top, they won't be able to match Mahindra's awesome execution.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Any options for lower side-steps in the Thar ? Not those electric folding types, but any alternative / modification in the mounts to lower the height of the steps

Friend has got the 4x4 Petrol, and his wife is not happy with the height of the steps.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Hi all,

Does it make sense to go for a used Thar in Diesel AT Convertible avatar? I am seeing a 2021 Thar (19k on the odo) for 15.90 lacs(asking price, haven’t negotiated yet!). This particular Thar is in Rocky Beige.

Another one is available a 2023 model Grey color with 5k on the odo with asking price of a whopping 18.40 lac (again, have not negotiated).

I am particularly interested in the first one with Rocky Beige color. What are the major differences in features I can expect in a 2021Thar vs 2024 Thar?

To give context, new one in Mumbai is available for around 20.50 lac with State registration and around 18.50 lac for BH registration.

Thanks.

I am also in a similar dilemma. Whether to go for a used one, get the one that's on sale now or wait for the facelift.
I am more inclined towards waiting for the facelift.

Hi, are you talking about five door Thar or facelift of three door Thar?. If it’s latter, I have not idea that three door Thar facelift is expected.

The major difference is the suspension. The newer Thars ride much better than the earlier ones. They have tuned it differently and you dont need aftermarket suspension in the new ones. Mine is 2023 make petrol 4x4 and I have driven the earlier ones post launch. There is a difference.

Other differences I know of is no lumbar adjust, one USB instead of 2 and no bag hooks on the seat backs.

Three door facelift. I was under the impression that the facelift will be launched along with the five door.

Okay. I didn’t even know that there is an expectation of facelift three door Thar. Thanks for the information. Any thread going on regarding this? Any info when it is going to launch?

Sadly, your impression is wrong. There are no plans or intimation of a 3 door Facelift.

With the way things are going, I don't think there will be a Facelift before 2026. The current Thar is doing solid in numbers and Mahindra has no reason whatsoever to bring a Facelift for the 3 door model (Though they should).

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

Is there anyone who has installed 1.25inch spacers or 2inch lift with stock suspension and tires? If I can get a long term review that will be wonderful.

I think the facelift is due for 3 door Thar as it’s a 4 year old product now. So the best time to launch is along with the 5 door as most of the parts can be shared among two models.
