Are you eligible to take the new BH registration that the govt has launched a few days back? If yes, are you planning on going for it?

Yes, they are correct. RTO calculations are on the current MRP fed in Vahaan. Discounts etc does not qualify for lower RTO.

Regarding the extended warranty, if you plan to keep the vehicle, then should consider it.

The Crysta is what was supposed to go in exchange, but then, it dawned on me that on the odd occasions when we have the extended family the Audi won’t suffice. Sadly, a hard decision to take. And as much as I tried, I could not manage another parking.

I’ll surely come back to own a Thar.
Congrats, beautiful purchase indeed. Can you please the details of the Audi A6 deal? One of my known ones is looking..

Not sure though but I might be eligible for this new BH registration as mine is a transferable job with offices in most cities.
But I won’t go for it as Thar would most probably stay in Delhi and my postings out of Delhi is max for 1 year and that too on promotion, in that case anyways I can keep the Thar with me without switching registration.
Also don’t want the hassle to pay road tax every 2 years.
But can’t comment on any cost advantage if any that BH registration might have.

I clearly checked with SA that only Mahindra has made the car allocation to the person who booked in Jun. Even I got the delivery 10 days back even though my booking was made in end-Apr. And I had made 0 follow-ups and was in no hurry.

It seems like it's a variant challenge. By any chance are these November bookings from last year for Diesel?
I got my AT-CT Petrol, Red variant last week as the original allottee opted out. It took 11 weeks from booking to delivery. On the same day, there were two more deliveries lined up for petrol and diesel.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

I have booked mine ( AT HT Black Diesel) from PPS Churchgate, Bangalore on 22nd Feb 2021. Latest CPD as per PPS team is 16th Dec. God only knows for how long I need to wait further. Honestly my interest in Thar is fading away far more quickly than I imagined and I hope some magic happens and they deliver it by atleast October end. Its a royal mess up from M&M as far as Thar is concerned and I hope they don't repeat the same with the much hyped XUV 700.

Pretty much the same boat as you. PPS Motors Church Street and the same config for the car. My CPD is in May 2022 and I don’t know if I ll wait that long. Might just cave in and buy a harrier or something. I guess it does not matter to Mahindra. As long as folks queue up to buy their products they won’t mind a few drop outs.

Drove the car for 400 kms in the city and it returned 9.52 kmpl using tank full method while the AFE on the MID was 10.3 kmpl. The variance at the moment is under 1 kmpl.

Wondering who will buy this for 12L if the BH scheme comes under effect for new vehicles. Thar LX with cruise control, infotainment system, better 4x4 gear, alloy wheels, hard top and many other features can be had for ~14L as the first owner. Used car prices are going to tank significantly now

On a different note, has anyone opted for a ceramic coating on the Thar? The 3M outlet advised against it and to only go with PPF given ceramic won't help at all during off-roading

Firstly, this is Bangalore, not Delhi. Prices here are in the stratosphere when compared to Delhi. You'll not find your new Thar here at the price you mentioned.

Secondly, even used Thars (older generation) go for astronomical prices here - with some (hopefully deluded) people asking for 12 lakhs for that.

Cheers

True. Most used Thar are currently being quoted at a premium. So not surprising to see this at 12L at all.

My point was exactly that. Post BH registration, there won't be any premium in Bangalore over Delhi. Will take time to come into effect of course

Cheers

Lucky you! We can expect more and more such cases, as people get frustrated with the wait and mess, and cancel their bookings. Interestingly, however, the waiting periods being quoted by dealers - as well as online booking portal - are only going north!

With some time to kill, tried mock-booking the various combinations across AT range of the Thar and here are the indicative waiting periods as quoted on the website (https://auto.mahindra.com):

  • LX AT D CT: 22-23 weeks
  • LX AT P CT: 22-23 weeks
  • LX AT D HT: 47-48 weeks
  • LX AT P HT: 21-22 weeks
No prizes for guessing the highest-in-demand model But for this, waiting periods seem to have come down across the range.

Re: Mahindra Thar : Official Review

The Thar's hill hold works very well. Yesterday I was at a McDonald's driver through and there was a ramp with some traffic. All good till I was in D and no need to press the break and the car stayed in its position.I moved the gear lever to N, applied the handbrake and my Thar started moving back. It does not happen in my other cars - Creta P AT and Crysta Manual. Has anyone else noticed similar behavior in Thar or is this a one off case and requires a check?
