Hi, Just bumping this old thread as i am also facing engine oil level increase issue in Nexon diesel. Can you confirm above issue is resolved after software update?

Hi there! Sorry for the late reply.I would like to share my view on this issue if you don't mind. This issue in BS6 diesel cars normally arises due to several reasons IMHO

1) Whenever there is an issue with the fuel injectors.

2) When the vehicle is frequently used for very short duration/distance and engine is turned off before optimum temperature is reached which doesn't give enough time for the DPF to heat and regen to complete.

3) Excessive usage in bumper to bumper traffic causing DPF to abort regen.

4) Lugging of engine or keeping engine under 1800-2000 rpm all the time which doesn't let DPF regen complete.

Whenever DPF regen is incomplete or aborted, the excess injected diesel is sent back to engine unit which dilutes the engine oil thereby increasing the level of engine oil and noted in the dip stick. Everybody stresses on keeping the engine above 2000 rpm but another important point here is to also make sure the engine reaches its optimum temperature everytime the vehicle is used as DPF requires sufficient boost (> 2000 rpm) and sufficient temperature to burn off excess soot deposit. I have never faced the DPF issue on my Altroz till date as I make sure to Keep the engine above 1600 RPM and also I use my car for a minimum of 15 Kms at once daily due to my work commute. If the vehicle still has oil dilution issues even after maintaining the above conditions then you have to get your injectors checked. Please note : It is better to change the engine oil whenever the oil dilution takes place as the engine oil starts to lose its lubricity as diesel dilutes the engine oils properties.
Contact Tata ASC and take help of your CSM. The CSM should be able to help you.

Thank you for the response. luckily issue seems to be resolved. I have not faced any issue after SW update.

Hi,

Am planning buy a new XZ Diesel. Requesting to share maximum discount available and the longest Extended Warranty available from Tata Motors. On the showroom paper it notes EW of 1 year at about INR18k. Do we also have longer warranty options from Tata

Thanks

For extended warranty, you have a 90 day period to buy. You can get additional 3 years apart from standard warranty and unlimited KMs AFAIK. Earlier, they kept cap at 250K Kms which is good enough for any individual.

Sales and discounts are less on Diesel models of Altroz.
If budget permits, go for XZ+ to have a smile on your face the moment you enter. I guess the difference is negligible.

Bought a XZ Diesel on Company Lease. It's my daily beater car now and Fortuner is reserved for longer commutes/highways/weekends. Clocked close to 1,500 Km now and first service was done. I extract close to 14.5 in city (tankful to tankful) and manage to get 20+ on open roads.

the highest mileage that the MID showed till now was 30km/litre

the AC is pretty effective and the suspension also does it job well. Overall happy with the purchase.

How to manually perform regeneration fo DPF? I have searched and found few for Nexon but it doesnot work for Altroz.

One interesting information for Altroz owners

Since I bought my 2023 Diesel Altroz out of the showroom, I was always unhappy with the braking performance.

The problem was that when the braking was hard ABS would actuate much earlier than required (according to my feeling based evaluation).

At the same time the stock tyres were low quality MRFs, due to rough handling tyre out soon after I purchased the car. To do limited time I had for tire hunting. I decided to replace 2 of the MRFs with Bridgestone sturdo (both fitted on front wheels)

In theory a better quality tyre should have solved the abs problem or at least improved the situation. But it didn't do anything, in fact it might have gotten a little worse

7 months late (which was just 3 days ago) I decided to replace the remaining 2 MRFs (ODO 23000) with continental UC6.

The best part is the brakes are working and feeling superbly now. I couldn't get the abs to actuate on an empty straight highway. I tried twice.

There can be 2 reasons for the improvements.

First and the most likely reason.

Tata has calibrated the abs for bigger circumference (probably some petrol variant) and then decided to change the tyre spec for diesel variant, and didn't bother to re-calibrate

Stock MRF size 185/60-R16 vibration

Bridgestone sturdo 195/55-R16 (-1.2% circumference compared to stock) vibration

Continental uc6 195/60-r16 (+2% circumference compared to stock) no abs vibration whatsoever

Second possible reason:

Tyre compound softness.

Probably the abs was tuned with some kind of premium grippy soft compound tyre and later slapped with hard cheap tyre.

The stock tyres was MRF ecopia, I believe most of these "eco" tyres are hard compound low resistance tyre.

When I switched to "Sturdo", this H rated tyre was again some kind of hard compound tyre which is designed for abuse and long life.

In contrast to above 2 tyres, UC6 is V rated grip and comfort oriented tyre which probably has some good quality soft compound which does not slip on dry roads at all. Which does not required abs to avoids tyre slips because it doesn't slip at all.

This info may be helpful for above who is faced with similar problem
