The cost is about Rs.2000/- per beading.

However, you do not need to replace it.

After struggling with the VW Autobahn Goregaon West service centre for 8 months, the Mody Thane Master technician Mr. Vinod confirmed over a call that the rubber beading has an aluminum strip inside. This can be bent to close the gap.

So today at my second last visit (last will be next week to replace a window glass they broke on previous visit. They had got a replacement but wrong tint ) at the Goregaon centre after some trial and errors, ultimately I only picked up a plier and sorted the beading. I did this for the left window.

To do this, just put some Abro/masking tape on the rubber to avoid scratches, then crimp the edge and see from the other end of the beading along the edge to check it is straight and evenly curved to match the glass curvature.

I drove over the Sea Link and the wind noise is almost gone. Right window beading was replaced by a new one and it is almost perfect. The rest I'll sort out!

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Hi everyone,

I was looking over the car and noticed cracks on both ORVMs' turn signals. There has been no incident of something hiting the ORVMs, strangely both have a crack at almost similar place. Can anyone check their Polo's ORVMs for the same? Have attached some photos.

Thank you

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Hi,
I just checked the OVRMs on my Mar 2022 Highline Plus MT. They seem fine for now. I have been parking the Car under a roof (90% of the time) & the location is North Karnataka & Goa (so not so hot).
Here are images of both the OVRMs (Port & Starboard).

Cheers!

- Total bill came to 9,300.00. Engine oil was VW 0W20 from the barrel. I requested for a can and they did not have in stock, they told me to call them a day or 2 in advance before visiting and they will have it arranged.
Hey sinharishi,
Thanks for sharing. I own the other 1.0 TSI twin, Skoda Rapid and had some queries around 2 things.

1. Are you changing engine oil at every 7.5K ? If yes any specific reason ?

2. How is the engine behavior after using 0w20 ? I am not sure what you got filled @15K service but Skoda's are still filling 5w40. Also it is wise to change grades if Skoda gives an option later ?

P.S. I do not like the engine noise and acceleration after every service (twice till now) from the ASC. I changed to LM Molygen @ 23.5K and the change was very very perceivable in driving.

I got oil changed at 7.5K then 15k, 30k. I will stick to 7.5k interval going forward. No reason as such, just that I believe 15k interval is just a bit long for our indian conditions.

At 15k it was 5w40, there was a new bulletin to to SCs to use 0w20 for 1.0 TSI. My dealership Viraj Automobiles have switched to 0w20. My car runs on HP Power (regular), XP95 or relaince fuel only.

Car did feel more responsive but last oil change was at 15k kms so I honestly cannot tell the difference.

Thanks for sharing. I will still stick to 5w40 now unless Skoda ASC changes to 0w20 and if it does will drain and replace 5w40 only.
I am also following the same oil change intervals after 15K now but I prefer FNG/DIY instead of Skoda ASC as they quote 4K+ for oil changes alone. I was able to change to LM @ 23K for about 3700 including oil (LM) + filter.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Just want to alert 1.0 TSI AT owners who have installed engine guard.

So during 30,000 kms service, the mechanic pointed out that the guard is rubbing with the gearbox oil sump. He created a gap by not putting the clips in place. I went to VW SC yesterday to get the car lifted and checked again (at 32,700kms).

The guard was still rubbing with the sump and the damage was more. The SA, the mechanic who was inspecting the car now tells me that this guard is not for AT models, well, why was it sold to me then? On the Polo owners group, this created more confusion as some MT owners are also using the same guard - note that the guard for AT and MT are different.

I just told them to cut off the area from the guard that was rubbing and left. A torn pant is better than no pants at all. I ended up exposing the gearbox oil sump but this was a better solution than removing the guard.

How much was 30k km service charge?

My 2nd yr service is due, VW Noida charging almost 9.5K INR including wheel alignment.

Get the wheel alignment and balancing done from outside to some some more. Apart from what's mentioned in the service manual, don't get anything done, service center people add stuff to increase the bill. Beware of the AC disinfectant

This is in Lucknow:

One of my friends got it done for 6.5K. He has a 2021 Polo 1.0L TSI manual. He was originally quoted a bill of around 9.5K for just general service. Then he made some calls and the bill was reduced by the service advisor, who, apparently, unchecked multiple things on his computer.

Another friend of mine got the 30K km general service of his Vento 1.0L TSI manual done for 7.7K.

No wheel alignment was done at the service centre in both cases.

I have paid 8700/- after discount (Originally it was 10700) for 30K/2yr service including exterior detailing and brake cleaning. Service advisor advised not to get wheel alignment done yet.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

How did I mitigate the engine guard rubbing against the gearbox oil sump in the Polo 1.0 TSI?

I have a 2022 Polo Legend AT with me and have been regularly posting updates. I installed an engine guard for Polo in the month of December after reading the posts of many of my friends here in Team BHP.

Post guard installation The drive was smooth, and I did not face any issues. In the month of February, I started noticing a sound coming from the front left wheel assembly. I took the car to the shop, and after a thorough checkup, all the suspension parts were ruled out. The noise was then isolated to the gearbox oil sump rubbing against the engine guard. I got to know then that the engine guard was not meant for the Polo AT. The team at Elite Motors then added a bit of foam padding and reinstalled the guard.

In the month of April, I again started getting the noise from the front left. The car was also nearing its first annual service. I took the car and checked on the condition of the engine guard and sump contact. The foam padding had done its job and prevented any further scraping. However, the noise was bothering me, and the solution of replacing and adding padding did not seem manageable.

Meanwhile, I had also read this post from sinharishi

and was inclined towards making a smaller cut.

I proposed making a cut in the guard, and the service advisor suggested making a longer cut and removing the entire bumped-out area that was rubbing against the sump. Kudos to the team at Elite, especially Yashwin, who was also brain-storming on this. Finally, we went out and got the region cut from outside since the necessary tools were not available in the body shop.

After the cut, I had an idea to reverse the part and do plastic welding. Hence, I requested Yashwin not to install the guard immediately. I took the car and looked nearby for garages that do plastic welding work. I came across the National Garage next to the Singasandra bus stop and presented the situation to them. The owner, Mr. Afzal, took an active interest in the situation and got to work. He basically inverted the cut portion and finished the plastic welding. He left a small gap in front to release any water that might accumulate.

I took the guard back to the service station, and the folks there were quite happy with the end results. Yashwin installed the part and did a thorough test drive to check for any sound that might come from the sump rubbing against the guard. Thankfully, there was no noise, and I got the car home with the engine guard in place. The only downside is that the ground clearance from the front has been reduced slightly, which I hope will not be an issue.

Plastic Welding process.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

35,000 Kms small update:

- Odo crossed 35,000 kms on a recent trip to Fagu, Himachal.

- Car has seen a lot of highway in the last one month, doing trips to Pauri, Haridwar and Fagu.

- For the first time FE went below 10kmpl, got 9.7 kmpl on the trip to himachal. Was very aggressive on the throttle.

- Have started getting service reminder already, due in 2300 kms. The car keeps giving reminder for service at every 7.5k kms, even though the interval is 15k. Pretty sure it is just a checkup reminder.

- The 205s section UC6 are doing a great job on the car.

- Tried Power95 from HP recently, have been only using xp95 on the car. Not much difference to write about between the two.

Some pictures from the recent trips:
