Thanks for the detailed post - definitely cleared all my queries. Clearly a steering wheel swap will not be as DIY as I had hoped! I will leave it to able-minded professionals to do it on my Polo

For the Comfortline AT, you'd first need to install Multifunction Steering Wheel wiring, post which you can install any wheel. Nikhil at The Mechanix Pune, does the MFSW wiring work for about 6k. If it's done the right way, then there's no wire taps, but involves simple replacements of certain connectors and leaves no errors.
Thanks, Sujoy! Although if I understand user TeaYesEye's post correctly, a wire tap would be needed since the AT variant has the spare slot alloted to ACC!
This steering with paddle shifters and the RCD340G - next big upgrades planned!

I am sold on the looks of this twin SS exhaust. Link

Sound is bit too loud. Would be great anyone can share any contacts/garages in Bangalore who does such installations.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Greetings!

After spending some time with our Polo TSI, I have noticed that the engine stays hot even after an hour the car is turned off. For instance; I turned off the car after idling with temperature being 90°C and checked after an hour, the temperature was still 80°C.

Is this normal? Any insight from Polo TSI owners will be appreciated.

Regards

Yes it is normal. This was one of the first things that I have noticed when I got my car. Infact, it really feels hot near the bonnet area with the hood closer. And even the coolant might boil for a while, even after the car turned off.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

I was trying to use the 'all windows down' function through key and tried a few combinations before figuring it out. Now everything was fine up until I realized that the boot doesn't open when I unlock the car, I have to long press the 'boot open' button and only then it pops open.

Another thing to add to my woes, when the interior dome light is set to middle position such that it opens with doors open, it comes on randomly while driving.

I think I messed up something when I pressed multiple combinations on the key. Can anyone help figure this out, thanks.

EDIT: I must add that since the dome light comes on randomly and the boot release isn't working, could it be due to something else as I recently did a 1000 km roadtrip and all the dust + long drive could've stressed something within the car. I also recall that when I noticed this the first time at a fuel pump the boot opened as soon as I moved the car even after properly closing the boot. Could it be a spring/latch or a connector gone bad?

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

So the update on the boot issue is that latch system seems to be faulty. Now the boot pops open on its own when I take stuff out of it, will get it checked at A.S.S later.

Question time -

1) What are my options on the brake upgrade and what would it cost? It seems some part are shared with Skoda Superb (or was it Octavia) so can I assemble these parts from different places and get them installed from my local mechanic?

2) High beam is pretty disappointing. Is Bi-xenon the only logical upgrade and if so, what is the best place to source the light and how much would it cost? I think few have also tried LED bulbs, does it make significant difference from stock or is it marginal. What are LED bulb options worth trying?

3) I've read a few DRL upgrade articles so is it possible to use LED in the fog lamp holder and use it as DRL?

It loosen up sticky locks and to help unfreeze lock cylinders. It's optional add-on which you can remove from the service estimate.

I'm at VW A.S.S. and after around 2 hours of diagnosis they've concluded that the actual latch isn't faulty. Its either BCM or wiring.

They will check wiring first because BCM is an expensive part and they'd rather try n find some wiring fault than place the order for BCM.

Never imagined landing up at their workshop within the first month of ownership but then that's what we get for owning a VW I guess. How I miss Toyota right now!!

Those are coolant-temps and it's perfectly normal.

TSI engines run hot, usually. Even more so during the summers.

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

First road trip post tyre upgrade and repairs.

Enjoyed every bit of the drive. The climb from Mussoorie to Landour was done with ease with 4 onboard. Switched to Manual mode for uphill and downhill. Hill hold is such a good feature to have, not even once it rolled down or struggled to climb. AC was a bit of a downer and it took sometime to cool the cabin in peak afternoon.

Covered 600 KMS total. Greater Noida-Dehradun-Landour and back!

Re: Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review

Achieved this during my last drive.

Volkswagen Polo 1.0L TSI : Official Review-index.jpg

I almost felt asleep a couple of times during the drive.
Even my car's speed warning system, my wife, got bored and asked me to speed up.

So happy to see your car back in action!
Consider renaming your car to phoenix, it came back to life to it's full glory!

For those who are unaware, Rishi's Polo was rear ended badly by a Tata Safari (My Polo TSI got badly rear-ended by a Tata Safari (two 360-degree spins)).

Question to the folks with the VW factory tinted green glasses.
How is the heat reduction from the windshield and slides?
I have tints on the sides, but thinking about getting the windshield changed to the green one. Would you call it worthwhile?

VW provides the slides with a green tint and it offers a decent heat reduction. However, windshield is the one to be blamed for heating as it does not have any filming. You might want to check Llumar Window Films for the windshield, I have it on my Polo and it is quite good.
