Suzuki could have very well turn that engine around and add a transfer case, make a smaller Gimny out of it. Afterall our Gypsy had a 1L engine initially, and it did just fine.
Noooo! Not the Gypsy please. The K10 would be super underpowered for a BOF 4x4! Plus the torque curve on that engine will ensure that it gets stuck on every moderately difficult trail it goes into.

Gypsy did have a 1.0 L but that was so long back! This mini gypsy wouldn't fare well today with much more capable machines present. I think the ideal engine for a mini gypsy would be the K12

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

Got my spresso vxi auto in silver. Upsized tyre to 185/65 r14 mrf zlx. Now the car looks squish and the stance of the car is better as well. Added some italian horn ( forgot the brand) but really loud. Also threw out the original 2 sensor display and in its place put 4 sensor reverse one with voice prompt. MGA mobile dock and elegant cord mats have been ordered and they all arrive in a week's time.

I recommend the tyre upgrade to all spresso /WagonR owners as it fits on the excisting rim and it greatly enhances the stance of the car. Ride comfort is also up and it feels like a proper big car now. Plus the performance is great and it truly is a city rocket thaks to its power and lack of body width.

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

To me, an S-Presso is a perfect car. Although the safety factor is next to non-existent; it is still 100 times better than driving around a motorcycle in the city. As mentioned in this thread and everywhere; I think a tire upgrade is the first thing on this vehicle. I liked the small size and it makes a perfect hatchback for the office commutes. I was, however, appalled at the prices, the top-end one can easily make the 6L border cross! Maybe I am out of touch or just that my expectations are wrong.

P.S: While I do say that it is better than a motorcycle, yet living in Pune city; the heart still says a motorcycle!

Indeed, as a city commute, the S Presso is a brilliant buy. Car prices have increased over the years and we shouldn't forget inflation too. Cannot imagine that few years ago, 5 lacs was a good enough sum and anyone driving around in a 5 lac Esteem was seen as a well to do person. Now the top model Alto 800 touches 5 lac mark in some cities. Someone in my circle got himself a Swift and it was almost 10 lac rupees OTR.

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

Got art leather steering cover stitched for the s presso. Although the job is not Bangalore leather works (Devaraj) level of fit and finish ,I was happy with the outcome,as in then end it cost me just 800 bucks for an almost hour long job.

Let the pics do the talking.

MGA mobile stand added ( thanks leoshashi for the part number !)

Air ioniser ( white) which I brought from Japan

Observation: first maruti I think with backlit power window switches and different switchgear than swift ( different doesnot mean better)

Parking light has a dedicated symbol in the instrument cluster like European cars!

Hello!
I too bought an Spresso Vxi+ ags last month. The dashboard display shows the mileage 17kmpl in city(Delhi) with moderate to heavy traffic. Can you please tell your mileage figures? And since mine is a new car, will it's mileage improve with subsequent service?

Gulp! Per MID it is currently showing 12 km/l. Frankly haven't bothered about mileage till now and hopefully will improve. The traffic is moderate ( no chace to get into 5 th gear ) and ac is 100% on. Current odo reading is at 350kms.

Well, I drive my car EXTREMELY lightfooted. Maybe that's why mileage is a little better. Seeing the surge in petrol price, have you given a thought about installing after market CNG ?

Added day night mirror to the s presso. Part is from boodmo and it's the wagon r mirror. A 5 minute swap job that makes night driving infinitely more bearable

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

I am looking for a very small AMT. Santro Sports AMT is the only car I liked. To my surprise, its a sales flop and I read some rumours of discontinuation. So considering S-presso. When I first saw it, I rejected it right away. Recently I saw a few on road. It doesn't look that bad. However, the youtube comment section is full of negative comments, and a lot of people making fun of it. Can someone tell, if it is as bad as the general perception?
(I am not worried about the build quality. Since it will be used within city only and the usage also will be low. However, expecting good fit and finish)

Actually, barring the safety standards, spresso is a fun car. We replaced an ageing alto with it, wife uses it for daily commute to work and is very happy with the car over the alto. AMT is a boon in Bangalore traffic.
I am a bike person, but do drive the car occasionally and quite like it too. aesthetics are subjective, rest its a fun car for the budget. engine is peppy enough, vibes are not out of control, suspension a bit on stiffer side, helps with bad roads. tall stance, easy in and out, small turning radius, decent interiors, infotainment, good ac, all in all a decent package in my opinion for city commuting. Aesthetics are a bit polar, i find it ok. With tyre upgrade, some cosmetics, it does not look all that bad.

HELP!! why i visited this thread is cos i want to upgrade the horn on the spresso. The present horn seems very very meak. I am looking at upgrading the horn to ideally a dual tone and more powerful one. What are the options i have? where in Bangalore would be right place to get it done? i stay close to bellandur. What implications will it have on warranty?

Any car accessories store should be able to help you, I do not know shops around that area. You can get a roots twin horn \ Skoday type \ Creta type horn set for about 600 INR, spend a few hundred rupees for a relay and fitting.

This will not cause any issues with warranty.

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

I absolutely do not like the way it looks.
But it is a very good car objectively. Good engine and transmission, especially the amt, great driving position, ample space and good pricing. I was looking for a small automatic car for my mom and this is pretty much the only car that fits in our budget. Kwid looks awesome but the engine and the amt with no manual override is a deal breaker. Although spresso is still ugly in my mind.

As someone who was eyeing the AMT Punch, it is just priced too high for my liking and we were considering Spresso before. Now tomorrow we are going to Maruti showroom to have a look at spresso in person. At 6L OTR In Mumbai, I Amy very well go for this. It is for wife mostly for dropping and picking kids to school (2.5 kms away) and may be sometimes for myself.

I see even the Top AMT variant doesn't have rear camera. I would like to get that added from dealership itself so video can come in the 7 inch screen system. How much does that cost?

Re: Maruti S-Presso : Official Review

Hi All. I went to Maruti Showroom near my home in Mumbai today morning and attached is the quote I got for the Spresso VXi+ AMT (Top Model). I had done my research before and the price is in line with that. Some points to note and ask....

  • The OTR before any additions is 6L (as seen in picture). This includes their own insurance. I am not sure if I should go with them or not. This is 1 year zero dep and 3 years third party insurance.
  • The Antirust he added just to quote, doesn't mean I have to take.
Standard warranty is 2 years but if I want to extend to 5 years, it will be Rs. 9600 if I take now, else it increases post 60 days to 11K and 12.5K if done post 360 days. SA told me he can get 10% discount on the extended warranty (960 Rupees less).
  • I have no idea what is carpet lamination but he told me it is like you need to only wipe the carpet and it won't become soggy and wet in rains etc. Quote mentioned. Not very inclined to get this for now.
  • The discounts you see below of 15K and 10K are October specific discounts but for 10K discount he told me that registration and insurance needs to happen in Oct which may not happen in my case since the car delivery may happen in November. But he says there may be a different discount that may come in November. He had a list of all Oct discounts.
  • On top of this, the SA offered 12K worth accessories which I can choose and this includes the antirust, extended warranty and carpet lamination so whatever total comes, I can deduct 12K from that.
  • I was quoted 5.5K for rear camera, not sure if I should get it done here or outside. The display will come on the 7 inch screen.
  • Corp discount he will check but he told it is usually between 1K-5K but I am not expecting anything for that for now.
  • The SA told me wait time is 4-6 weeks but in most cases, it will be sooner.

Need advice from experts here, should I get the Antirust coating or not needed and if need to be done, should I get it done somewhere else like 3M ?
The SA mentioned 12K worth of free accessories and he told I can choose and he will deduct 12K from that. I am planning the rear view camera for sure as we absolutely need it, may be floor mats? I am not sure what else to choose? The 4 front chrome rectangular thingy? We are mostly choosing grey or silver color for the car.

Any other suggestions from prior buyers?
