The blend made it sell more than any of the hot hatches in the market. You atleast get to see a couple everyday on the road. Just a turbo charger will not attract the consumers to the market, specially when the convenience of daily driving goes and you need to pay more for it.
That's at 50% more cost than the JTP at ex-showroom prices itself. Enthusiast cars are so far and few between. In terms of comparable build, they are similar/closer to each other than the Baleno RS. The Abarth is too rare and pricier. This is the cheapest hot hatch that money can buy. It will have its market too.

I liked the Tiago earlier. It is the size of my earlier Indica, marginally lesser. My Vista is large and serves the purpose of even hauling my goods. Ample boot space when the seats are folded. I love the Tiago JTP, but the size is a shade too little and can't be a truck like I have used all my cars. This is the only nagging reason for not buying it. Will wait another year for the Harrier, and then the choice lies between the Nexon and the Harrier.

This is truly the child of passionate engineering and car-craft.

At 6.4 lacs I love how accessible all this performance is to the broader base of the buying pyramid.

Hearty wishes to JTP-our own home grown RS badge!

I would love to see a head to head between the tiago jtp and the figo sport diesel. Price difference not withstanding, but purely from an enthusiast perspective.

What a review! Watched almost all of the YouTube reviews of the JTP cars, but no video could bring the real essence of these cars.

Team BHP review in words brought the car to life! I almost felt as if I was part of the drive while reading it!

Lastly, we must give Tata their due. Fantastic effort, they know that these cars are not going to generate volumes, yet they have done everything that is possible from their end. I hope its the beginning of a performance division that we Indians can be proud of.

Re: Tata Tiago JTP : Official Review

Wow! a great review as always!

Tata has pulled off a stunner and gifted affordable performance to our market. Nice strategy there to have choosen Tiago as the first vehicle to introduce JTP versions. If any only if market responds to these cars in a kind way, we can expect JTP versions on other Tata models.

Re: Tata Tiago JTP : Official Review

Rushlane reports that Mr Zishan Khan of Mumbai is the first Indian to take delivery of the Tiago JTP

If he is a member of this forum, I wish him a great ownership and look forward to reading his ownership thread.

Thanks Viddy and Samurai. Review rated 5*.

Well done Tata and Jayam for churning out these pocket rockets.

Would have loved to see some in gear acceleration times. 0-100,means nothing in real world circumstances . The 20-80 and 40-100 kmph would be helpful.

Considering you guys did the ultimate test of the vehicle up the Kalhatti ghat.

For those who do not know. This is my ultimate test track.

Re: Tata Tiago JTP : Official Review

Well Vid has specified it clearly - this car is indeed raw and should be one instead of modern day cars focused more on NVH levels.

Well done Tata. I had mentioned this before and reiterating the same again - If ever my wife decides to learn driving and we have a chance to have another car in our garage, it will surely be JTP!

Re: Tata Tiago JTP : Official Review

Vid & Samurai, many thanks for the fantastic review. Loved every bit of it! Rarely a car makes you want to run to the dealership for a test drive, eagerly waiting to experience it.

Kudos to Tata Motors, they have done a remarkable job with JTP twins. The effort really shows. Though this will not be a hot selling product, it will definitely boost TMs goodwill. I do hope that Tata will not go on an austerity drive with JTP twins in the future.

IIRC, long back Tata had showcased a rally version of Indica, that was also developed along with Jayem. Thanks Tata for giving us an affordable pocket rocket.

That's the Mettupalayam-Kotagiri-Ooty route they took. Not sure if they did the Kalhatti Ghats.

Jayem Automotive is actually not an aftermarket tuning house. They work with other autombile companies for testing and improving their products. And also used to build Formula 3 cars. But they would have tried various maps and mods before zeroing in on this setup for the market.

Forgot to add my appreciation for the brilliant write-up as well as the real feel experience with a good bit of humour. Thanks, Viddy & Samurai.

The guys on the extreme left, oogling at the beauty in red are our two reviewers. This write-up now brings perspective to this picture.

The one car in India I’m lusting after , and it’s a Tata! And well under 10l! Looks like that kid who was always made fun of in school has made everyone shut up and finally take note. Well done Tata , brilliantly played .

Re: Tata Tiago JTP : Official Review

Hello

I am not a car enthusiast, I asked this in another thread and ask again here for your collective superior advise

I am planning to change my 10 year old India vista petrol

I am hooked to the JTP Tigor

However I am unable to decide should I venture into a specialised vehicle such as JTP or should I opt for a standard Tigor

My concern being, I have never drove a turbo yet, understand this cars needs to be driven in a special way, worried that I may mess up the turbo and engine with my nob driving

I note till now couple of negatives such as JTP having a turbo lag, 3 cylinder engine not being that refined, average power below 2000 RPM; all this is bit of overwhelming for a nob like me

Please advise, and I apologies if my English and punctuation are not up to BHP standard

I think you should just go for a test drive and see if it suits you. You are ultimately the best judge of what is the ideal car. Maybe once you test drive a few cars within your budget, you could go to the What Car thread and take it up there.

My two bits:
  1. Not sure if you're talking about the rev limiter for Neutral or driving. No good reason to remove the first, and the latter can be removed by any good tuner.
  2. Probably cheaper to just have it wrapped in vinyl or painted.

The best way to find out is to test drive one yourself. Drive the regular Tigor and then the JTP and figure out which one suits your style. You can't go wrong with both.

Nothing to worry about messing up the turbocharger. Just ensure you warm up the engine before revving it up and after a drive, allow the car to idle for a minute or two.

Since you come from owning an Indica, you are already used to the higher stance you get and the typical Tata layout of driver seat. You will be surprised about the improvement in interiors and engine too, coming from the fact that your car is 10 years old.
