If a random internet stranger's comment makes you feel any better, the only other recent car that made me look a second time is the Hexa, esp. the dark blue shade.

It may be a reworked Aria, but it's classy inside out and has the one thing the Aria didn't; PRESENCE, a load of it. Enjoy your car!

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

N1 racing Mumbai has built Stage 3 Octavia RS. This includes IS38 OE turbo and APR Stage 3 map. I believe this is the most powerful Octavia RS in India. The car should be doing around 380 HP . The car is also running with many more mods.

1. Warranty for the first 4 years.

2. Reliability is anyway a question mark with these Europeans. Serious mods will put even more stress on the components.

3. Possible compromise on low-end power delivery.

4. Modifications in the midlife serve as a good 'inhouse facelift', make the car more exciting again & might make you retain the car for longer. That's why, I usually modify my cars only after owning them for a couple of years.

I don't believe they were there on our test car.
I am using BSR Tuning kit for my Superb 1.8tsi. It increases the power to 225 bhp. They give a warranty up to 4 years for engine and gearbox.

In case of the Octavia vRS it bumps up the power to 301 bhp.

I think it is okay to go for a modification like this.

They who? Skoda? Or the tuner? How can a third party give warranty on engine and gearbox?

I would take that warranty with a bucket of salt. There is no logical way (that I can think of) a tuner can give warranty to engine and gearbox. At the best, we can consider this as an unofficial assurance that this will not cause any engine or gearbox failure. If there is a problem, I would not expect the tuner to reimburse the cost of engine or gearbox repair or replacement. You will be at the mercy of Skoda and the dealership.

graaja, ordinary Skoda owners are anyway at the mercy of dealers. No alteration is 'allowed'. Any adjustments are completely dependent on your personal, political or financial clout with your local dealer.

I can only pray for professional service inline with my idea of Skoda as a global brand.

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

I was at Feynlab to get my car washed and there was a vRS getting washed at the same time. Noticed these extensions on the rear bumper where it meets the fenders ( right on top of the parking sensors ).

There was a 1.8 TSI there as well and that didn't have these. Was curious what were these for ?

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

Specific countries have non-negotiable rules on how much wheels can protrude out of the wheel arch. I suspect this is designed to workaround the same given the wider rear stance of the vRS. Present in other cars as well.

Experts can add to the same!

That plastic flap is intended to improve aerodynamics around fender. I'm not sure about the wheel protrusion rules though!

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

I have seen so many Octavia RS getting tuned in the country now. APR Stage 2 Octavia RS by Harmonnix tuning Bangalore has dyno tested figures : 336 HP / 551 NM. This is just brilliant, considering the car is still running on stock turbo.

List of mods :
1. APR Stage 2 ECU + TCU Tune.
2. APR Downpipe.
3. APR Intercooler.
4. APR Turbo Inlet Pipe.
5. APR Carbon Fiber Intake.
6. APR Turbo Muffler Delete.

Re: Skoda Octavia vRS : Official Review

Can we hope for some changes or add ons in the new batch of cars, considering it will be a new production run?

Things like DCC, larger screen, different alloys, black pack, etc.
