Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

The Compass's petrol AT variant has been spotted in a Jeep showroom at Kochi as a display vehicle.

Many thanks to Saju Scaria for sharing!

There is an ex-factory price from the Manufacturer and then there is an Ex-showroom price for the dealer. What about the margin between them? Ideally, shouldn't that cover these costs + a profit margin for the dealer? As far as I know, the Ex-showroom price is like an MRP and the dealer cannot legally add any charges to that to avoid showing those extra charges in the invoice.

I think Turbanator has explained this. If these charges are added as part of the Ex Show room price then effectively there would be a GST of about 28% and Cess of about 20% on average, leading to an extra tax of 48%.

For example when a handling charges of Rs.10000 is added to the cost of vehicle it would become Rs.14800 in the hand of the customer. So dealers charge it seperately. I am not justifying this but trying to clarify this.

It might have been started by some clever manufacturer/dealer to have an edge over the competition.

Supreme court has given an order to avoid handling charges as these are covert way of charging the RTO bribe.

So this picture confirms that there is really slim chances of Compass getting additional features (eg : Cruise Control) on the top end variant as there were news that there were test mules spotted with additional features. I personally think Cruise Control and Front sensors would really be useful additions.

Exact same observation. Something seems amiss.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

For India, the cruise control is not in the scheme of things at FCA presently. So, do not expect it in the near future.

Does seem to be having a manual mode, as the plus and minus buttons are visible on the gear shifter.

Very poor decision from FCA!

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

I spotted 3 Compass till today. Red, white, and a silver. It looks good in isolation, but on road it looks compact and gel with the traffic. No one was paying any attention to it.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Spotted a grey Compass petrol AT variant on the roads today. ARAI sticker on the rear. This is the second time that I have seen a grey Compass on the roads. The alloys as well as the tail lamps seem to be of the longitude variant. Would have expected the pressed steel wheels to go with the tail lamps.

Impending launch of grey colour ?

See pics below. Forgive the quality as these were clicked just as the signal turned green and the traffic started to move.

Judging from these, and the earlier posted spy pics from a showroom in Kerala - I feel the Petrol AT Compass Limited variant would have the alloys of the Longitude variant.

AT is available only on Sport and Limited variants, as per the brochure.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

The grey colour somehow did not appeal to me. Off course the car was all dusty and smeared which might have biased my opinion.
