Any advice? This was just replaced locally by a known vendor. The battery was also fully charged.

The previous battery was fading and was showing 13.6/13.7 V while running and during the previous service, the SC suggested that the battery was not retaining power.

This got resolved on its own after 4-5 hours. Everything went back to normal except the overall fuel efficiency and trip details got reset along with the time and date, which was expected.
The SA from Jeep also suggested the same (to keep the vehicle locked for 4-5 hours).

My 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4x4: Surprising 3rd Service experience.

Review: 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4x4

Mileage Update: Since September 2022, we've clocked nearly 28,000 kilometers on our trusty 2022 Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4x4. From off-road adventures to city commutes, this vehicle has been our steadfast companion.

Overall Impression: We've been thoroughly impressed with the performance and capabilities of the Compass Trailhawk. Its rugged design, combined with its off-road prowess, has exceeded our expectations. It's truly a fantastic product that has brought us immense joy on our journeys.

Minor Hiccups: While the overall experience has been positive, we did encounter a couple of minor issues along the way. The gearbox can be a bit clumsy at times, and there's a noticeable creaking noise from the suspension during low-speed maneuvers. However, these haven't been major deal-breakers for us.

Service Dilemma: Today marked the car's third service, and unfortunately, it came with quite a surprise. The estimated cost, nearly 30k, left us in disbelief. Even our friend, who owns a 2016 Compass, was taken aback when we compared bills. The service advisor attributed the steep increase to system-generated quotes, which left us scratching our heads.

My Estimate for the 3rd Service

Comparative Analysis: To highlight the absurdity of the price hike, I used a fellow BHPian 's bill from July 2023 as a reference. The discrepancy between bills from just a year apart is staggering. Our car required extra procedures for cleaning the brakes due to a squealing noise, which incurred additional charges which is understandable but the stark difference in pricing in a year is very alarming.

Final Thoughts: While we continue to love our Compass Trailhawk, the unexpected service cost has left us pondering. We hope to address these concerns with the service center and ensure a more transparent and reasonable pricing structure in the future.

Community Input: Have any fellow Jeep Compass owners experienced similar service cost shocks? We'd love to hear your thoughts and insights! Let's navigate through this together.

I used ChatGPT for my review to not make spelling errors. Forgive me for the same.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

From what I can see, the brake cleaning and refacing job alone cost you around 8k. Just refacing the disc is 3500/-, which is absurd. You can probably get new discs for that cost. When I last enquired refacing of discs outside about 6 months back it was around 300/- per disc.
The oil is very expensive. My diesel compass oil costs around 3.8k.
Finally Labour is also very high which probably includes the brake job. General service Labour cost for jeep compass is around 5.5k. Had you got the brake job and wheel alignment balancing done outside, your bill would have been around 17k,which is what it usually is.
General service should be carried out in the service centre to keep the warranty. Other jobs can be done outside to save on the service cost.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Thanks for your insight. Landmark is killing the car's ownership experience by pricing its parts like this.

How did you get 8k for the brake cleaning & refacing? I think it's just 3.5k for the brake job.

I've heard the wheel alignment & balancing done from outside usually causes calibration issues with the car's sensors like the TPMS etc. Has anyone got any insights regarding this?

I will look into getting the brakes refacing done from outside. Does anyone have an idea about reliable mechanics near Mulund or Thane? I usually get my cars repaired with the authorized service centers so I'm lost about this. I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Never had such issues, you can do the same from any reliable tyre shop.

Amounts are in tune with what is expected with this car. At most, you can have alignment and balancing done from outside. Other than that, everything has to be done from the service center only as the car is in warranty.

Jeep service is damn expensive. Just a fact of life. Make your peace with it, and enjoy the dynamics of the car.

Brother, I don’t think you have much experience with Jeep service centers. They charge as if the things they are using are all 24K gold plated and they are doing us a royal favour by making them available to us.

Jokes apart, part and labour prices of Jeep Compass service cannot be compared with the mass market brands. Their rates are in step with the likes of Mercedes and BMW.

Wrong! Brake cleaning and disc refacing are not mandatory and can be taken out. Just like any other service centre these guys will also push for extras. You need to have some basic knowledge to push back. My service costs are usually in the range of 12-19k which is reasonable for a Jeep. I knew what I was getting into when buying the Compass. I wasn’t expecting a Mahindra/Tata level service cost really.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hi guys, I'm looking to upgrade my dashcam for the compass. My current one doesn't play nice with the front USB port, forcing me to route it to the socket behind the front armrest, and that gets kicked around all the time.

My requirements:

- front + rear channel
- Ideally under 10k
- my car is under warranty, therefore I'd like something that's a plug and play solution.

My father was suggesting we get jeep's official dashcam, but I find it very overpriced.

I'm in Delhi, so if you guys have any shop recommendations I'll check them out, otherwise I can order online and install myself.

Also, any recommendations for getting the car damped? It's the one area i feel the car could be better.

Completely agree with this. I had my eyes popping out when I was told to pay 8000 for changing the spark plugs. That is 2000 per piece. Then I consoled myself saying for a brand that charges almost 8000 for the sun blinds and 5000 for the wipers, what else is to be expected
PS: Those wipers are of excellent quality and those sun blinds perfectly fit and do their job very well.

Taking out the outside repair, brake works, alignment and balancing, your bill comes to 20-21k which is very much I paid for my 30k service of Longitude diesel manual. I always get alignment and balancing done outside.

The service costs have increased though. 15k service in 23 Jan costed me 15k while 30k service costed 20k. Blaming Jeep may not be fair as post covid everything from foods, hotels, cars etc have inflated at least 50-100%, seems every business is making for the loss during covid and consumers have to bear the brunt.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Dear All,
I have completed 2.5 years with my Jeep compass (Diesel longitude manual) and clocked 28k kms. Few of my observations in this decent ownership period.

(1) Stability and Power are the two key factors that makes me feel wow every time I go on a long drive.
(2) Unless the speed alarm starts beeping at 120+ km/hour, you will not realize that the vehicle is going at such speed. Very rare and short instances where I pushed till 160-170 km/hour, and the vehicle was still planted and stable.
(3) I get a mileage of about 14-15 km/ltr on highways. I mostly do not cross 115 kmph as I do not like the speed alarm after 120 kmph.
(4) AC is not very great. I keep the temperature setting at 20 degree C to get a decent cooling (For a feels like 24 degree C)
(5) I had a horrible experience where the engine cover nut (about 2 inches in size) came out and stuck in a place which made it impossible for me to change gears (in middle of a deserted road at 9 PM outside Bangalore on a Sunday, with my family inside). I got help from a passing angel who was a BOSCH mechanic and on phone assistance from JEEP service center personal friend, who took out the nut and the gears started engaging. My trust on this vehicle took a sharp dip after this incidence. Why would a nut come out? I was given some explanation about vibrations, but I was not convinced.
(6) Climbing hills, hair bends (Tirupati, Nandi Hills and few others) is a breeze. There were two instances where the vehicle was having 1 wheel on air (sharp steep U bend due to faulty ramp design). My wife noticed it and had a shock. Though my jeep is NOT 4x4, it did a great job. I gained lot of confidence on Jeep post these two instances.
(7) Battery changed within 2 years (though within warranty). I heard same story from lot of people, and was told lot of electronic controls drains the battery fast. A surprise for an ex-Verna owner who changed the first battery after 6-7 years of usage. Key fob battery also had to be changed after 2 years. Similar surprise, but similar justification.
(8) Overall happy with the ownership.

Regards,
Karthik Iyer

I went ahead and post remap the vehicle feels very responsive and smooth. The in cabin droning noise during acceleration has almost disappeared. The Jeep feels smoother to accelerate and reach 100 km/hr in roughly 1-1.5 seconds less, though I have not timed it. In-gear acceleration has improved tremendously and vehicle barely lags. Fuel efficiency ranges from 13-15 km/L depending on traffic and speed maintained, earlier it was around 10-11 km/L. And most importantly, gearbox seems to hold the right gear 90% of the time and even when it upshifts, there is ample torque to power up and the vehicle comes into powerband instantly.
I would suggest owners unhappy with the performance to give it a try. I’m attaching a photo of the fuel economy after a highway drive with moderate traffic.

Hi harsha89
I am a cardiologist based in Chandigarh
Just bought a new JC 4*2 automatic
Was searching for some review of JC post mapping, but couldn’t find much of content
I wanted to enquire about the jeep compass performance post mapping, especially about the in cabin droning noise and and effects on NVH levels post mapping
Everything about the car is excellent except for NVH levels, especially the droning noise during acceleration
My contact no is 8153000014

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hello fellow jeepers!

Thanks to couple of you folks for your guidance!

Finally booked the 2023 April Model of Limited (O) 4*4 Model with Jeep dealer at Mumbai. Managed to secure some discount so 2023 instead of 2024 model.
I didn't find a lot of merit in spending extra for ventilated seats and digital instrument cluster so Limited(O) made more sense over Model S. Finally it was down to deciding between 2024 (4*2) vs 2023 (4*4) so opted for later. Didn't have colour options (only white & silver) so ended up deciding on white with black top. I would have loved the green! While I am not a big fan of the service advisors I am dealing with at the showroom, hope to get a better experience while servicing!

Before deciding on Jeep, did trials of Mahindra Scorpio/Thar/VW-Tiguan/Taigun/Skoda-Kushaq (in past)/MG. Didn't want to go for Hyundai/Honda/Maruti etc. Had taken quite a few trials in last 6 months with Jeep. Nothing is as good as the drive stability and quality of suspension of Jeep.

Did a PDI through zekardo yesterday and all seems okayzee except for a few minor issues which hopefully will be fixed before the scheduled delivery date. They had taken a lot of plastic (from the display/instrument cluster/near the gearbox etc.) but they said it happens when the car is at the yard for a long time. Few issues identified during the PDI as below:
1. Engine oil needs change
2. One 0.5cm tiny dent (non visible) which they had covered up but needs to be done well
3. Couple of paint fixes (again tiny dots) underbody of the door
4. Paint chip near hood (near wiper
5. Left side plastic cover - behind the bonnet needs replacing
6. A mysterious error code P0686 - seems like related to the Battery which Jeep will fix at their end

Here is a glimpse from the PDI. Just waiting for it to come home on 10th and take-off

Kind regards,
Chetan

I am overall happy with my choice but I still do miss my dear Yeti at times.

All the best with your selection process.

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

I have a JC Model S 4x4 23 June model. A friend got the same spec this month although I haven't seen in person. Saw some pics in my SAs status so asked him whats the price hike since a year. He said almost 90k ex showroom. Then I asked him other than the grill if there was any other change. He said the GC has now become 210 unladen due to some suspension changes. Can anyone throw some light on this? Have they been putting the TH suspension now that TH is out of production?

Re: Jeep Compass : Official Review

Hello everyone,

Completed one year with my Jeep compass Petrol AT last month.

I usually keep my auto start stop off but it’s a hassle to switch it off every-time and there’s no permanent off option. Lately, the start stop has not been working properly.

After I release the brake, it attempts to start the car but the engine gradually dies down. If I press the throttle there is loss of power and engine turns off. Something like lugging in manual. There appears a park sense not available notifications on MID with a yellow P logo.

I have to put the car in P, turn off auto start stop and then restart the car using the ignition button. It starts normally then.

Is it a battery issue? Otherwise there’s no problem in starting my car the usual way and the voltage also reads within normal limit.

Has anyone else experienced this?
