Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

I am looking to change my fog lamps and have zeroed in on Phillips H11 Xtreme Vision150 Pro 55W from Boodmo

It costs around 900 for one bulb. I have a few queries:

1. Is it a good choice or are there better recommendations?
2. How much of an improvement is it over the stock fog lamps?
3. Do I need to be worried about being pulled over by cops for using after market lights?

I also plan to install Bosch Universal Symphony fanfare horns and currently searching for a good set of Bosch wipers too before the rains set in for good.

Any and all suggestions about my choices are welcome and greatly appreciated as I’m new to this. Thanks I advance!

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

@blackwasp - amazing...45K+ kms on ODO in 15 months with 19.2 kmpl mileage! How you managed both? Mine is September 2024 Alpha AMT white and have done just 3.3k with mileage of 14.9 kmpl in Bengaluru. While i like the little champ for the ease of driving and power, I am still learning to manage the upshift from 1st to 2nd gear smoothly without pushing much, especially during the intial run of 0 to 2 kms. After that, its does not hesitate. One more thing, during the initial run, the transmission shudders slightly at low RPM, not always though.

That said, i am quite happy. The second service is slated on March 25, 2025.

PS: Actually, bought for my wife...I end up driving more.

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

Did a 600 kms round trip to Chintpurni mata in my fathers 2021 model 30k run Ignis. He bought Ignis on my insistance on that time. Few observations which are in comparison to my Spresso.

- Seats are more comfortable and supportive in Ignis than Spresso. Ignis Seats are more supportive even than my erstwhile Ecosport.

-Sound insulation is better in Ignis than my Spresso.

-Boot space is better and more usable in Ignis.
-Handling is better in Ignis specially on hill twisties.

Now come the cons:

-Engine is way better in Spresso than Ignis. Be it low end, in gears, city, ghats, k10c is 100 times better than Ignis engine. I lost count of times I stalled Ignis in city and stop start traffic on inclines. Actually in Spresso there is no need of accelerator input in low speeds. Just release the clutch gradually and the car picks pace. But Ignis stalls. Second one is Highway Overtaking. You have to wring the neck of engine to make any fast movement in Ignis. But in Spresso, all what is needed is gentle dab on accelerator and overtaking manourve is over.

- AC performance is no comparison between the two. It was early March, and AC cooling was non existant even on blower speed 2. Where as in Spresso, we never have to use 2nd blower speed for extended periods even in peak summers.

-Ride quality is wee bit better in Spresso than Ignis.

-Outside visibility, Ingress, Egress are some other points which makes Spresso more convenient to travel.

-Mileage i didnt notice during the drive. But long time average on MID is 19 kmpl in Ignis and 23 Kmpl in Spresso dualjet.

Btw, in your comparison, you seem to have forgotten the weight difference between the two. This can explain the reason for many of the differences.

In that case we should consider power to weight and torque to weight ratio of both the cars.

In Ignis, power to weight ratio is 99 bhp/ton and torque to weight ratio is 137 Nm/ton.

In Spresso, power to weight ratio is 92 bhp/ton and torque to weight ratio is 124 Nm/ton.

It would be interesting to go full monty, and compare every possible difference between the two cars and try to understand why this behaviour is showing

It can be because of difference in gear tuning of the two cars. But Spresso is not that short geared either. In all other vehicles I have driven, 4th to 5th gear change can comfortably be done at 50 kmph. But in Spresso, that comfortable speed is above 60 kmph, below that there is engine hum. May be in Spresso, first and second gear are too short, and forth and fifth gear are too tall.

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

Guys, question regarding the engine running time counter:

The counter in our Ignis looks stuck at 99:59:59. Any idea what's happening ?

It can't go to 100:00:00 because the number you mentioned is the maximum limit. You have to reset it.

Kind of silly to provide a counter like that, which cant move up beyond 99 hours.

I have once unknowingly reset it when I disconnected the battery. Is there an option in the menu ?

Btw, car was serviced two weeks back

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

I took my Ignis for a highway run last weekend, my first highway trip since October. I'm pleased with the mileage, and I thoroughly enjoyed the drive.

Maruti Ignis : Official Review-ignis-mileage-.jpg

Overall, since purchasing the car in October, I’ve achieved an average of around 17 km/l, with 90% of my driving in the city and 15% on the highway.

The car is scheduled for its second service in the next couple of days, as it has been 6 months since the last service.

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

Second service update:

It's been 6 months and 4,700 km.

Here’s what was replaced:

1. Oil
2. Oil filter
3. Air filter
4. AC filter

I also got a rat mesh installed for ₹750.

The total bill came to ₹4,709.

The car feels more refined after the engine oil change, and I can definitely notice improved AC cooling after replacing the AC filter.

Love this car

That's because they have filled thicker oil, you might notice some drop in efficiency. While it does not warrant immediate drain but do emphasize on filling 0W-20 grade oil during the next service.

Re: Maruti Ignis : Official Review

Have few questions on the Diesel AMT.

* Does the AMT Gearbox offer crawl / creep function and does it work on slight inclines.
* Is Hill hold function available in Delta / Zeta variant.
* Expected mileage within city and on the highways.
* What's the clutch change interval, I see most Maruti AMT's suffer from clutch failure at 25-30k kms if driven mostly within city.
* What rpm does it take to cruise at 100kmph.

PS:If anyone in Bangalore has Diesel Amt would like to have a look at it once.
