I think Tata should not look at what's 'Premium' from its own set of glasses. Rather take stock of what competition has to offer and then set the benchmark from there.

Jeep Compass has electric seats, panoramic sunroof, dual zone AC, electric parking brake - all skipped by the Harrier
Creta has ventilated seats - skipped by the Harrier
XUV, though an age old design, gets its own party tricks
Hexa has soft touch door pads for the rear doors, sun-blinds for the rear windows - again features skipped by the Harrier

And that's only the current competition.

We can expect MG Hector to come extremely well equipped and the next gen XUV5OO (Ssangyong Korando) loaded to the gills!

Now, keeping all this in mind, if we go by the Geneva launch spec for the Buzzard/Cassini (sad names IMHO), it only copies over what Harrier gets. Which means it would miss out on whatever the existing & future brands bring to the battlefield. This simply would not cut it.

Tata should realise this, understand and course correct. The sooner the better.

Hexa's sales woes continue, drops 74% (Y-O-Y) sales/dispatches in March.

This post is for everyone who have smallest doubt about reliability / durability of a Tata product.
One of my friends owns Hexa from very first batches and has completed 1,00,000 KM milestone in just 2 years and 2 months. Refer the pic.

Tata Hexa : Official Review-img20190405wa0004.jpg

Apart from regular service visits, he only had to visit SC once that too because of minor accident he met with. It's the preferred highway ride for him, his family and even for many of his relatives who borrow it from him. Few months back his family member bought another Hexa.
Which speaks a lot.

I think the Hexa is the Crown Jewel of the current Tata line-up (Not the Harrier, Not the JTP).

Unfortunately, its not getting the numbers it deserves.

Seems like Hexa is selling even lesser than Safari Storme, or maybe at par with Storme. That's a bummer in itself.

How did you figure this out?

Many of us who live in plantations and in rural areas, AWD gives us that extra peace of mind.

Besides, with Hexa there is no question of homologisation or anything like that. Tata Safari has 4WD and all hardware/software available in India itself.

Right, if you read my full post, the next sentence says that unless you drive in slush, mud etc., which is what you would find in plantations or rural areas. The length of the car also would be a disadvantage in some of those areas isnt it ?

Even in such areas, quite a few places where you would want to take a Hexa can be done in 2WD. yes AWD gives you extra peace of mind, but is not an absolute must IMO.

My understanding is that irrespective of the availability of the technology, a new car needs to be homologated. Happy to be corrected.

AWD and 4x4 are totally different in nature. AWD basically sends/cuts power to wheels depending on the terrain and road conditions. It isn't necessary for AWD to be used in rough road conditions but on wet tarmac it's a boon and hugely adds to providing more grip. And I would agree with 4x4addict that it's a great option to have. Besides I've noticed my XTA Hexa aqua planing when driving through a puddle on the highway. In such situations the AWD would have been really welcome.

Exactly, AWD has other benefits in wet and slippery conditions. The Traction Control and ESP programs work better with AWD as power for all 4 wheels can be modulated by the TC/ESP System.

This is probably why the TC/ESP System is available only in the Manual 4x4 version of the Hexa and not in the Automatic.

Went to the yard yesterday to take a look at the new dual-tone Hexa. Personally, I feel Hexa looks much better in single tone, but then it might have something to do with the alloys. The platinum silver dual tone Hexa with 19" alloys, showcased in the AutoExpo looks better than these. I couldn't find any pictures of dual tone XTA with 19" alloys. Few pictures of the new dual-tone XT variants :

So, what's the story now? They aren't making single tone Hexas anymore? If yes, that's just ridiculous. The Hexa was never aimed at the young and flashy crowd anyway. Don't understand the mindless decision to discontinue single tone version.

Well, that's what dealers have informed me now. Top end XT/XTA are only available in dual tone variants. :Frustrati. They should have instead brought the dual tone option to Harrier. Hexa somehow looks so much better in single tone shade. The only dual tone which I liked is the Platinum silver with black roof, showcased at the AutoExpo. I sure do hope they will bring back the single tone soon.

That's the unfortunate Tata story : every step forward is followed by two steps back. :Frustrati :deadhorse

Couple of pictures of the new dual tone XTA that I got from a friend. I personally kind of like this one over the dual tone XT variant. The alloys definitely improves the overall stance.

Just thought of leaving this piece of news snippet here:-

https://gaadiwaadi.com/tata-hexas-st...ikCQVh9epCt31s

Shows images of a Hexa which crashed into an iron HT pole with the front mangled a bit. No casualties.
