The 20Lakhs is on-road price, look at the calculation below.

For a Hexa XE, the ex-showroom price from Tata web site : 11.72 Lakhs
This is including 28% GST and 22% cess.
Hence, actual cost of car is: 11.72/1.5 = 7.81 Lakhs.

This would be including the profit margins of Tata Motors. Now, reduce the price of under the hood items like engine & gearbox, body, interiors etc from 7.81Lakhs. The Chassis cost would be what is remaining. Add the 28% GST for spare parts. Looks like the cost would match what you mentioned.

Do they have a sunroof option on the Hexa ?

The Hexa has a Webasto sunroof as an official/approved accessory, it costs ~90000 rupees. The fitting is carried out by the Webasto dealers and only one specific model is approved to be fitted in the Hexa.

It would be absolutely a delight if they get a panoramic sunroof on that car.
I don't think the Hexa will get a panoramic sunroof, even Webasto has bigger sunroofs as options but Tata has approved only a smaller variant. It may be possible that the Hexa's roof has structural members running across and bigger sunroofs would need them to be modified/cut at the dealers place which Tata was not wanting to do. But ya, if they can come out with a facelift some years down the line with a factory fitted panoramic sunroof it will sell good, just look at the Honda WRV which is selling so well because it has a sunroof.

The Urban edition is definitely a welcome move to push sales for the Hexa. If Tata is taking strong feedback from the customers, they should also straight lift the Touchscreen from the Nexon into the Hexa. I believe they have kept it for a facelift probably next year. Also introducing an XZ variant with a Panoramic Sunroof, engine Start/Stop, etc. will boost the sales even further.

Have couple of questions for those who have driven both the Aria and Hexa:

1) How is the ride in Aria comparing with the Hexa?
2) Is it safe to assume that they share many internals to the level that maintaining/servicing the Aria won't be difficult?

The context is buying a used Aria.

To all fellow Car lovers! the newest web-series by Powerdrift is actually a Hexa vs Innova comparo! loved it :thumbs up

Refreshing change to the usual auto reviews with fantastic cinematography.

Do see if you have time this weekend :)

Ride quality of Hexa is slightly better than Aria but not significantly. It's the interiors, looks & stance, equipment that primarily differentiates both and THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.
For maintenance and service of a used Aria, yes there will be similarity in the mechanical parts. However, body panels and other parts are totally different.
However, I'm sure Tata dealers will be providing spare parts for Aria . Not sure why you are worried about maintenance and spars availability.

On a lighter vien you could take a look at the guy who converted his Aria into a Hexa by swapping parts.
:)
Back to the topic -
Should not be a major issue sourcing parts with TML.

But significant number of parts are different!

They aren't just ranked in top three, they are in fact ranked no. 2 with a tied score with, none other than Maruti Suzuki.

For all the fellow Hexa owners and perspective buyer's, here is what my MID showed this morning (and this is not the instantaneous FE figure, this indicates my average with close 2K behind the wheels), though the actual mileage in not this high but yes for sure it is close to 16+.

That's the best mileage I've seen on a Hexa till date! Guessing it's a manual? Also, could you please highlight the kind of roads you drove for these 2k kms?

Trip reading was the first thing I saw after looking at the picture and my response was :Shockked:

Man, you are gonna teach me your driving style, getting 20 (let's take 20% error to make every category happy) or even 16 kpl overall on a Hexa is indeed a remarkable feat for 2 reasons:
1) If it's mixed driving, then you are a Zen
2) If it's 90% highway or expressway FE, the you are definitely a Zen :D

Its really hard for me to keep Hexa under 100 or at times even 120 on highways, it's only after I look at the speedo, I do ease off (You got it right, that's always higher than what my mind thinks).

That's totally awesome. My XTA gives around 9-10kmpl in mixed conditions. Goes up to 15kmpl for lazy cruising. But 20kmpl over 1800km is just bonkers!

Thanks Abhi, Yes, it is an XE Manual.

The driving has been city (50%) and Highway (50%), with moderate to light city traffic.

Do enjoy the Beast.

Haha, thanks for the nice words, Kumar.

I still haven't taken my Hexa beyond the 75 KMPH mark and kept the revvs below the 2K mark.

Usually it is suggested that the running in period is 2000 odd Kms, but for all the cars that I have owned, I religiously follow the 5000 Kms running in period.

Wishing you many a Happy Miles with her !
