Re: Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review

Not sure if this was the same car, however since GTO mentioned that this will be travelling to Bangalore side, I saw a similar Mustang with temp number plates in Nandi hills this Saturday. It was having a tough time taking a U turn in the hills.

Also was surprisingly very silent. Was expecting to hear a roar when I saw it behind me in the rearview mirror on the way back. However since the driver was driving it pretty slow, I didnt wait for it to pass.

Re: Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review

Watched 'The Faster Horse' earlier this week as Mustang fever refuses to go. What a fantastic documentary. Watch it for the Mustang, watch it to get an overview of the car design -> production process.

Was happy to see a fellow gujju (Prakash Patel) as the Mustang's program manager .

Now this is what I was so eager to know. I remember just before the Mustang launch you had mentioned about buying a 3 year old Mustang makes so much sense. I am apprehensive, since not too many of these are sold in India, getting a spot on resale benchmark may be difficult, pushing their resale higher, demand vs supply point of view. A few days back I had seen a 3rd or 4th owner AP number yellow 2006 Boxter done 26K kms in Bangalore, and the dealer was quoting 26 Lakhs

How much do you think they will cost in 2020, I mean both these cars.

Both are iconic cars and I'd be super happy to have one.

For a niche car, it's off to a very good start. Heck, it's outselling even the E350 & 530d (both of which are frequent visitors to the used marketplace). I think we should have a good range to pick from in 2020.

Yeah, crazy pricing. Thing with such a limited-availability car is there is no set market-price.

I'd say about 45 lakhs, give or take. The Cayman will be more expensive because:

1. There are too few of them around.

2. The lure of the brand.

3. It's more expensive to begin with!

I think Dodge Challenger/Dart and Pontiac GTO were also part of that band wagon.

I am thinking of getting the 2016 Mustang here in New Zealand. Getting it for approx 30 lacs INR. What do you guys think. It is the auto transmission.

Wait if you can. A new model is due with a ten speed auto (for the 5.0L) and interior/exterior upgrades

Re: Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review

The facelift (2018 Mustang) has been unveiled:

http://money.cnn.com/2017/01/17/luxu...surge-grid-dom

Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review-2018fordmustang780x439.jpg

Key changes:
  • Less muscular and a bit bigger front end (notice the slope at the front in the pic). Redesigned front and back lights.
  • A 10 speed auto transmission
  • LCD instrument cluster
  • V6 engine discontinued - only 2.3L ecoboost and 5.0L on offer
  • More power (both hp and torque) from the same engine - exact figures not revealed.

Expected to go on sale in US around Aug'17. Overall the focus seems to have been refinement and finesse. Considering that the Mustang has been the best selling sports car in Germany of late, it seems that Ford is interested in positioning it as more of a sports car than a muscle car. Lets see how that goes!

Re: Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review

I got the chance to represent Team-BHP and drive the Mustang as part of its pan India tour, from Bangalore to Chennai. Here's my humble take on my experience with the Mustang, an experience of which i loved every minute!

Re: Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review

The Mustang gets a 2-star rating at Euro NCAP.

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/a...w/56780256.cms

Quote:
The current version of the car lacks autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system - a major reason for docking of points

Insufficiently inflated front airbags also caused contact between head and steering wheel during the tests
Quote:
Euro NCAP did take note of Ford's intimation that the next version of the Mustang will come with AEB systems in place.

Report of Euro NCAP test attached, really shameful for a car with a 5.0 V8 engine and having 400+ horses.

The result is pretty surprising for such a car. However, I believe that it has more to do with rear occupants's safety and also due to the fact that driver airbag had insufficient pressure as dummy's head did hit the steering wheel. But largely, the structure remained stable as per the report. It could be due to the reporting framework of NCAP that such low score is awarded to Mustang.

Nevertheless, it could have easily fared better. Its quite surprising that in USA, 2015 2 door Mustang gets 5 star rating. USA ratings sourced from here

Re: Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 GT : Official Review

It seems a very bad day for Ford and its Mustang. 2 star rating for a INR 70 lac car is beyond imagination. Suzuki's Baleno and ignis which cost around one tenth has got a better rating.
As per the report, "the rear seat passenger slipped under the lap portion of the seatbelt (a phenomenon known as 'submarining') and the score for the knee, femur and pelvis body region was penalised and protection was rated as poor.
Protection of the chest was also rated as poor as the rear seatbelt (which has neither pre-tensioners nor load-limiters) showed an excessively high tensile force in the test."
