Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

GX MT - A noise (paper kind of object touching a running fan blade similar to tyre thread partially peeled and hitting the inner mud guard) was heard in front left side while driving above 40kmph (noise was increasing as we increase the speed) for 5 min and then disappeared. Sorry i didn't record the audio. Inspected the bonnet, underneath engine bay but didn't find any external objects. Below were the events happened before:

1) Washed the vehicle with water, some water droplet might have gone into the brake pads
2) Parked the car in my village where rats are common and equally cats too!
3) Before parking the car in the garage, drove 350km with no hassles/no noise

I vaguely remember someone mentioning about fan to dry the water inside the brake pads. Does it exist and can it be the cause? If not, any potential reasons?

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta : Official Review

Have PVC art leather seat covers fitted. Dad and Father-in-law complains of vomiting sensation during long drives. I used to allow external air once in an hour by rolling down windows or switching off internal air circulation. Is this due to PVC material? Any suggestions for this issue.

@mod - I couldn't add this to existing thread. Please do help to add in above thread if feasible

Any update, on what the actual cause of the water ingress was?

I am seriously considering the Innova as a potential replacement for our 8 year Fortuner. I am waiting for the monocoque Innova Hybrid to be launched as well…

But I am hearing several problems cropping up now on the Crysta. I am getting a very bad vibe, of Toyota India degrading their part qualities in newer cars

AFAIK, no car gets illuminated wiper / Cruise Control / indicator stalks!!

Cruise Control is an exception on cars where the buttons are placed on the steering wheel itself.

Almost everyone in the family including me has this issue. While driving , somehow noticed it impacts front seat folks less and driver least. Keeping the window open obviously helps but can't do that on our roads regularly.

For my personal cars, I just retain regular cover of the car even if they get dirty. At the back of my mind is that I can always get them cleaned and after a few years, can always get the fabric changed. So it's comfort over ease of cleaning in my case.

f.
Not yet. I somehow got caught at work and didn’t find the time to visit the service centre. Have taken appointment for the Friday morning. A quick chat with the SA makes me believe that the roof spoiler (an accessory that runs along the roof, both sides - what’s it actually called?)might have to be removed and checked.

With lesser rains for the last two days, the wet patches on the liner have dried out.

I’ll update no sooner I visit the service centre.

Do you just have the fabric seat without any cover? GX MT comes without any cover, just the fabric foam.

Does it mean you change the seat completely? What is the cost? Can i now remove the PVC seat cover? Is there a secondary market resale of seat covers possible? Is there any alternative like using refreshner?

1. Yes, just the fabric seat, worse colour to maintain than your car because in my (non-Crysta) car, it is beige. Last 20 years, did not install seat covers in any car. It stains more easily (PVC is good that ways) but inspite of staying in a place where monsoons are heavy, I still don't mind it. Most can be removed, some can't, but I am ok with it. Also have used fabric covers in the past but they were a pain to remove/install.

2. I meant the padding/ contours etc. in the seat can be changed as well as the fabric. Don't know about current costs as last time I did it was aeons back (I try to keep OEM fabric as long inspite of few minor stains). There are threads in the forum about Bangalore based Seat-work related folks (I think one thread is on Imperial in Bangalore). Hopefully they will answer most of your questions

Am not aware of things like refreshner helping out, if you get to know of alternates , do let us know.

You can go for full leather - expensive but very comfortable. Leather breathes; so don't heed people who claim they sweat on 'leather'

You can remove the PVC covering and ScotchGard the fabric. Cheaper and reasonably comfortable.

Just remove the PVC seat covers. Get the interior cleaned at a good place like 3M. Take a long ride with dad and father-in-law, you will get your answer. I don't think it has anything to do with seat covers. Some elderly people have issues with nausea while travelling in vehicles with higher ground clearance and especially if traveling in rear seats. Don't waste money on leather seats. We have a 10 year old car with fabric seats, I can't see any issues with that. Even if some stains form, most can be removed at good detailing centers.

@all Crysta owners,

Do any of you have a picture of the side curtain airbags on how it is placed inside the A pillar? Also any picture of how the rest of the side curtain airbags are rolled up along the roof lining?

I tried to search for vidoes/images on Youtube and Internet, but could not find anything.

Its basically rolled up into a long tube that runs from the mid of the A pillar all the way till the mid of the last row. Had made a video of the pillar sometime ago and here it is:

Do leather seat covers address the nausea issue? Is it due to PVC material then?

I believe the PVC seat covers are stitched to the fabric at the corners and at the center tool. Is it feasible to remove without damaging fabric?

Should be on the bottom right of your dashboard.
Above the levers for the fuel tank and front bonnet.

Edit: I just realized from some images online that they are not placed there for Z variant.
